About using ping template[edit]

Mindmatrix, the ping template won't work unless it's done on an edit where the editor's sig is also added. When you added a belated ping for EdChem to your post on that DYK template, nothing will have happened. (The same is true of the other informal ping methods, like adding a user link; without the sig, nada.) I thought you'd want to know. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:15, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fog[edit]

I took the Fog article from a 6 line stub, and made it an article, as well as its opening photo. I put the Historical references there as well. I don't want the Fog article to become a "Romantic baloney article", as so many have with these cultural references sections. You know darn well where this is going to end up. Just like the nutcase that put the Funeral Fog song there today, which finally inspired me to take out the trash. I don't care how many authors wrote novels with Fog in the title, and neither does anyone else. This is a scientific article. Let's not make it trash. Please undo your edit there. ThanksPocketthis (talk) 18:39, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

bigot[edit]

Reversing legitimate complaints in talk sections is something we expect from bigots and crazy people, not editors of wikipedea. So don't stifle the talk sections— Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.84.1.2 (talkcontribs) 21:20, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't delete your comments, only the terrible header title - there was no stifling of discussion. Equating a user to a bigot or being crazy is the antithesis of WP policy to assume good faith. How about you not make wild assumptions about another person's motivations? Moreover, WP talk pages are to improve the specific article with which they are associated; for general discussion, use a more appropriate forum. The message you left at Talk:Parameter probably belongs at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics, but without referring to editors as "idiotic academic professors", which is clearly intended to rile rather than start a useful discussion. Mindmatrix 21:41, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No you did wort than that, you lashed out at a public account I'm not even associated with and blocked them for no reason at all other than soothing your ego. It is a typical display of the moral rot of Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.84.1.2 (talk) 01:26, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've only blocked one user in the past eight months (see this), and that was for an account engaged only in vandalism. Wikipedia has clear policies regarding editor behaviour, and if an editor chooses not to observe the guidelines, they will be blocked. Your continued refusal to accept good faith, for example claiming that an administrator is "soothing [his/her] ego", is not acceptable behaviour - quit making unsubstantiated claims. I do find it odd that an IP editor "not even associated with" a vandal editing account becomes so upset that the vandal account is blocked. Mindmatrix 11:13, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, on the matter of blackades, you are right. You are being mixed up with User:Materialscientist . As for voodo mind reading crap that takes place all about the editors of Wikipedia, stuff it. What you find "odd" can be attributed to your morning breakfast and palm readers. User:Materialscientist is blocking MASSIVE numbers of users and there is nothing anyone can do about him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.84.1.2 (talkcontribs)
I just inspected a bunch of blocks by that admin, and they all look reasonable - all users and IPs were blocked as a result of vandalism or other violations of Wikipedia policy. If there is a particular editor whose block you find concerning, please indicate which editor and I'll look into it. And I will reiterate that being abusive toward other editors, such as telling them to "stuff it", can result in you being blocked. I've been lenient with you so far, much more so than other admins would be when being called a "bigot". Tone it down, or you'll be blocked for not adhering to WP's civility policy. Proposal for a page[edit]

Dear Mindmatrix,

As previously you have contributed to Wikipedia in regards to financial articles, would you, please, consider writing an article on Creamfinance? It is a global financial services company that provides personal finance products in emerging markets. The company was ranked as the second fastest-growing company in Europe in 2016. Creamfinance is employing over 220 people and operating in 7 countries both within and outside of Europe – Latvia, Poland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Denmark and Mexico with an IT office in Austria.

I believe it corresponds to the Wikipedia notability rules as it has been talked about in legitimate third party sources: <ref>https://www.creamfinance.com/#home</ref><ref>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/habits-and-routines-of-entrepreneur-matiss-ansviesulis_us_58cf643ce4b0537abd95727c</ref><ref>https://www.inc.com/magazine/201603/noah-davis/inc-5000-europe-2016-fastest-growing-private-companies.html</ref><ref>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/habits-and-routines-of-entrepreneur-matiss-ansviesulis_us_58cf643ce4b0537abd95727c</ref><ref>http://af.reuters.com/article/southAfricaNews/idAFFWN1H10D</ref><ref>https://www.forbes.com/sites/julianmitchell/2017/02/20/meet-the-fintech-ceo-making-money-easily-available-anywhere-in-the-world/#5a39bb19f724</ref><ref>http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20150929005886/en/</ref><ref>http://www.marketwatch.com/story/creamfinance-partnership-with-mintos-to-offer-investments-in-loans-in-georgia-2015-09-29</ref><ref>http://www.labsoflatvia.com/news/latvian-creamfinance-nabs-a-21m-investment</ref><ref>http://www.techbullion.com/creamfinance-among-fastest-growing-europe-2017-inc-5000-rank</ref><ref>https://www.forbes.com/sites/julianmitchell/2017/02/20/meet-the-fintech-ceo-making-money-easily-available-anywhere-in-the-world/#5a39bb19f724</ref>

If you wish I have put together a first draft for the page and can send it you.

According to Wikipedia guidelines I want to underline that I am a Project Manager at Golin Riga and I have been approached by Creamfinance to help with their representation on Wikipedia. Aozolins-golin-riga (talk) 07:46, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would you have a moment to look at this edit? It caused an error in the references. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:01, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It occurs because when these ref templates were rewritten as Lua modules, a number of features were not implemented or were deemed unnecessary. In this case, one cannot use a ref such {{sfn|Smith|1846}} and later use {{sfn|Smith|1846|p=90|ps=This is a 1970 reprint by [[Coles (bookstore)|Coles]] of the original 1846 work, part of the Coles Canadiana Collection.}}, as these are deemed different refs using the same name. I've updated it per Help:Cite errors/Cite error references duplicate key#Sfn and Template:Harvard citation no brackets#Additional comments or quotes: .7Cps.3D, though I find it an inelegant solution to a problem that doesn't need to exist. DYk approved. Added citations. Rowlett is fundamental on lighthouses. Moved external links to citations. Feel free to tweak the citation format and move them to sources. I also was sloppy about date format, and that needs to be corrected. Cheers. 7&6=thirteen () 13:49, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
