SHOULD YOU WISH TO RESPOND TO THIS, AND WE WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE HEARING FROM YOU IN THIS INSTANCE, PLEASE DO SO ONLY AT OUR EMAIL AS WE NEVER SEEM TO SEE ANYTHING ON WIKIPEDIA WITH ITS SO ODDLY / STRANGE SECRETIVE SYSTEM -

Copied text from Porridge (1974 TV series) into another page

I did copy text from Porridge (1974 TV series) into another page, to create a lead section. I was unaware of the intricacies of copying within Wikipedia - clearly something to be avoided. I've undone the edit (frankly, I don't care about the page - I was only trying to sort out a few 'missing lead section' pages in an idle hour), and will now leave this page to others to correct. But thanks, I've learned something new about Wikipedia. Topo122 (talk) 11:22, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Topo122, Don't worry, feel free to copy sections away- just use the edit summary copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. Don't sweat it, even some of the more experienced people here don't know that they need to attribute when copying. 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 12:18, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Hello, Moneytrees. Please check your email; you've got mail!
It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template.Buster7  14:44, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
Buster7 Got the email; if you want to help, some of the articles at the cci cite book sources, you could look through the books

(Specifically The Biographical Directory of Native American Painters (1st ed.)) and can ping/email me if you see any vios. On the part of feeling embarrassed over the copying and having committed the vios out of ignorance rather than maliciousness, it's fine; you aren't some cbanned LTA and are willing to help out, so you're good in my book. Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, peoples rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. ―Buster7  13:59, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

This is just data from a reliable source. Restore this please?

Demographic statistics according to the World Population Review in 2019.[1]

  • One birth every 9 minutes
  • One death every 10 minutes
  • One net migrant every 38 minutes

This information is valid and relevant, and it is also placed from years ago in Demographics of Australia with a AUS government source, and I did not place it.--BrugesFR (talk) 22:03, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

BrugesFR, Yeah I removed that by accident when removing the copyvio above it (visual editor had a freak out). It's been re- inserted. Thanks for pointing it out, 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 16:40, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

Firstly I'm thankful for being correct in the rest of the articles you are reviewing, first o all I come to say thanks.

[1] Sorry, but why do you revert this, What is I must to do to have this data there, it's just reliable data and its very important to the article, gives necessary/important true information that is not in the article nor another wikipedia article, the data you deleted is from CIA World Factbook that is entirely of Public Domain, I include the template to there is no problem Public Domain This article incorporates text from this source, which is in the public domain., in all demographic articles. Just to say that I usually do in many articles, I only add figures or data, that is not a copy-vio, in what way do you want I to transform about 30 data figures, in what way become more summarized if nothing can be ignored are present or historical data. But the issue here is that is not to violate any wikipedia law.--BrugesFR (talk) 18:31, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

BrugesFR, I didn't see the PD notice there when I first reverted the edit, if I had saw it I wouldn't have reverted. At the time I was under the impression that you copied from foreign language sources and was planning on mass reverting edits; I then realised that that wasn't the case and didn't go through with it. I forgot to revert my one edit afterwards. Thanks for your understanding, 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 21:34, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

No, thanks to you for everything you are doing, attached to fairness and leaving data that is not modified, which although some people may not like it, are real, historical or current, they are just that to be informative and to the true. thanks to you.--BrugesFR (talk) 21:50, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

BrugesFR, Now that you're here, can you tell me if you copied Basilica and Convent of Nuestra Señora de la Merced, Lima from es.wiki or another place? Thanks, 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 17:13, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
Same for Aljafería. 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 17:16, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

It was one of my articles written in the wikipedia, I was very new and I didn't know anything about how wikipedia worked, I just wanted to create an excellent article, the (==)Reredos and the Virgin of Mercy Section(==) was the copy, I think that from a blog of Latin American history, the rest of the article was copied there before or I copied it from the Spanish wikipedia, I didn't tell you once because I was afraid of a retaliation on my account. (in the aljaferia I did't copy-vio there)

There is other article that I did the same but it was so good, informative and well done, especially since it is one of the most beautiful and important colonial construtions of Latin America (and of the Americas), it is information of great historical value like that of the autonomous lordship of the heirs of the Incas (the niece Tupac amaru and daughter of Sayri Tupac, both emperors and heroes) throughout whole the time of the Spanish empire, the both respected their sovereignty, and the Inca lordship held power over large part of Peru, This royalty inca woman married (and indeed so it was) with the nephew of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (irrefutably the history's biggest order in the world), This historical event that, as I said lasted throughout the colony, is represented in the 17th c. large painting of the marriage that is preserved within the church, it is a Latin American Relic. I say about the information inside the iglesia de la compañía de jesús, cusco, if you allow me let me modify its writing structure (if do you want, you can help me with that, its just that section (only one) that is copied. but if you don't want to, then I do it myself with my less inventiveness) so that it ceases to be a copy-vio. Im also ready to found references. I only speak for this article. 'although I have some modified many of the article from a few months ago to stop being copy-vio'--BrugesFR (talk) 17:39, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

It even may have a significance that gives more color to the story, because actually the architect of the notable church is Flemish (a Dutch) and the author of the notable painting is possibly an acculturated Inca (Quechua) -due that Inca painters were common in the viceroyalty (see Cusco School)-, within a Spanish territory (Colonial Peru).--BrugesFR (talk) 18:53, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

I'm big sure there are no more cases, excepting a few countries demographics articles.--BrugesFR (talk) 18:15, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

My Family and Other Animals (TV series)

As a matter of fact, I didn't copy that text from http://www.angelfire.com. It's on the back cover of the DVD which was released by BBC Worldwide Limited in 2006. I can provide the scan if you want. I bought in on Amazon some years ago. Thanks. Buxareu (talk) 22:28, 23 December 2019 (UTC)

Buxareu, I didn't think you did since the source you cited was of the DVD, but I reverted anyways because it seemed to have been copied from somewhere, and angelfire.com was listed as where the edit had been copied from. That aside, since it was copied from the back of the box, the text is likely under copyright and unfortunately cannot be pasted into wikipedia. I'm guessing retailers have the text because the BBC let them. Sorry for the inconvenience (copyright can be a bit of a mess), 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 22:48, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
OK, hope they won't put me in jail for this. Buxareu (talk) 22:58, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
Buxareu, Nah its fine, I'm pretty sure the BBC wouldn't care over an honest mistake. Enforcing copyright is more about encyclopedic integrity, in my eyes at least. 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 23:07, 23 December 2019 (UTC)

Welcome to the clerk team

Hi Money emoji. We have added you to the list of clerks and subscribed you to the mailing list (info: WP:AC/C#clerks-l). Welcome, and I look forward to working with you! To adjust your subscription options for the mailing list, see the link at mail:clerks-l. The mailing list works in the usual way, and the address to which new mailing list threads can be sent is clerks-l@lists.wikimedia.org. Useful reading for new clerks is the procedures page, WP:AC/C/P, but you will learn all the basic components of clerking on-the-job.

New clerks begin as a trainee, are listed as such at WP:AC/C#Personnel, and will remain so until they have learned all the aspects of the job. When you've finished training, which usually takes a couple of/a few months, then we'll propose to the Committee that you be made a full clerk. As a clerk, you'll need to check your e-mail regularly, as the mailing list is where the clerks co-ordinate (on-wiki co-ordination page also exists but is not used nearly as much). If you've any questions at any point of your traineeship, simply post to the mailing list.

Lastly, it might be useful if you enter your timezone into WP:AC/C#Personnel (in the same format as the other members have), so that we can estimate when we will have clerks available each day; this is, of course, at your discretion. Again, welcome! Regards, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 18:41, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

José María Lamamié de Clairac

Hello,

I am not sure I am addressing the right person, so in case I am erring please excuse. I understand you were somehow involved in deletion or actually you have deleted the entry titled José María Lamamié de Clairac, on the presumed grounds of copyright violation. I have tried to find any discussion or any closer information (whose copyright? what source was plagiarised? etc), but failed, probably because I am not good at finding things. Please could you point me to detailed info which substantiates the copyright violation claim?

regards, --Dd1495 (talk) 10:41, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Dd1495, The article was created by and had a majority of edits from a user with an open CCI (Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Sayerslle). Sayerslle is confirmed to have copied extensively from books, and José María Lamamié de Clairac cited a book as a source. Unlike websites, books cannot be scanned and compared to articles to find copyright violations and aren't usually completely accessible online, so, in accordance with CCI guidelines, content can be removed under the presumption it is a copyright violation. I'm not very fond of doing it and try to find alternatives, but sometimes there just aren't any alternatives. The backlog at CCI is extreme, and only 3 people on this website work on it. 💵Money💵emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 23:26, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
thanks for the info. This is all a bit frightening. Regards, --Dd1495 (talk) 08:44, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

Eric Westbrook

Visual editing refuses to work on your page so cannot add new section here. I have received your copyright warning on Eric Westbrook. I had only just uploaded the entry and in minutes your message came through. I was just in the process of changing it using information from a number of other sources and removing the basic material paraphrased from my colleague Tony Perry's obituary. I have consulted with him to use the material. I do appreciate you diligence as a WP editor, but may I ask you to please leave the article alone until I have finished, perhaps revisiting it tomorrow to see it it complies. Thank you, Jamesmcardle(talk) 01:31, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

Jamesmcardle, (Visual editor is weird outside mainspace- sometimes it'll work, sometimes it'll decide not to. Pretty annoying.) I've come across those who have similar editing processes; they have no intention of violating copyright, and are able to adequately rephrase the material they work off of. I would rather you work on rephrasing the majority of the text before publishing rather then publishing the text with significant content from the source and rephrasing it later. If that is (understandably) too time consuming/difficult, then I recommend you take a paragraph or two, rephrase it, publish, and then repeat until you have the information you want. That way, you can rephrase quicker and someone won't revert your edits as close paraphrasing (I'll add that what I removed wasn't too bad and wouldn't take too long to rephrase). 💴Money💶💵emoji💷Talk💸Help out at CCI! 01:54, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Money emoji thanks. Yes what you have removed, the article can do without. I'll take your kind advice on editing. Regards, Jamesmcardle(talk) 02:23, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello and thanks for the RevDel requests

Hello,

First, thanks for all the copyright violations you are finding and reporting. One thing to note that with RevDel, you don't have to redact the revision which removed the content, as the revision content no longer includes the content to be removed from the history (See step 7 on the administrators' deleting guide for RevDel). This means when requesting RD1s as you have done, you don't have to include in the range the revision where the content was removed. No big deal if you do, as it only requires unclicking one checkbox before going to the RevDel page, but just thought I would let you know.

Thanks again for your work in ridding Wikipedia of copyright violations. Happy editing, Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 17:34, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

Your deletion tag on my page Faith for Rights Beirut 2017

Hi Money emoji! You have becom cause of unnecessary deletion . Content was from a U.N. publication for which no permission fo copying is necessary as shown here ,as it is non commercial publication of U.N. . Whole publication is here. It is better if you have deleted yourself to restore the article as it was written with objective that it could get translated in many Wikipedia sites and thus meets the objective of wide dissemination of U.N. information fo Human Rights issued.I had already given due fGuglani (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:58, 20 January 2020 (UTC) 06:07, 20 January 2020 (UTC)~

Guglani, I'm quite confused by this. When I saw the article appear at copypatrol, I thought it would by in public domain/under a free liscense, since most UN works tend to be. But when I looked at ohchr.org, the site it was taken from, their coppyright notice reads "All information posted on this site becomes the exclusive property of OHCHR, which reserves the right to modify or remove it.", which seems to make it not free to copy. That doesn't really make any sense and is a piss poor way of stating copyright, but I decided to be on the safe side and csd it. So I'm not really sure on the copyright status of it, sorry. That said, if it is copyright free, contrary to what Ohchr.com says, then feel free to upload it to Wikisource. I think having an article that is just the full text of the declaration isn't very encyclopedic, and think it would be better if there were an article about the declaration. Energynet

Hi, I'm a bit frustrated in that you removed the summaries that i was just working on before I could even complete their references! I'm working real time, and the materials are delete! Isn't this kind of like making extra work? Yes, my first bio in ages, but the summaries are about the book from the publisher! Energynet (talk) 17:23, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Energynet, My intention was not to disrupt your work, but rather remove the summary from the publisher you inserted- they own the copyright to the summary, so it is, unfortunately, a copyright violation to insert it into the article. Please read the notice I left you on your talk page. Thank you, 💴Money💶💵emoji💷Talk💸Help out at CCI! 17:29, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Yes, but I'm just working on building the summary up and its deleted as I'm working on. So putting it in quotes and referencing it back to them won't work because its a complete summary? geez I was just starting to do this!!! Energynet (talk) 17:38, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Energynet, Yeah, copyright can be a real pain. Maybe try rephrasing it down before publishing it? 💴Money💶💵emoji💷Talk💸Help out at CCI! 17:42, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi Money emoji! I'm so sorry for this message, which is certainly badly written, because I don't know the English language and I get help from Google translator. I have been Wikipedian in Italian for about 8 years. Mr. Carsetti asked me to add info on his page and sent me the text to add; I copied and pasted the song and I didn't notice the copyviol. Tomorrow Carsetti will send me a paraphrase of the song and I will paste it again, do you think it could be fine?--Manuelarosi (talk) 23:32, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
