Sorry

I went a bit crazy last night and I apologise --Jubileeclipman 18:42, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back!

I'm glad you came back Mono. I won't bother asking you why. I hope you decide to stay; your contribs are really great! Try not to take things so personally all the time.

Might I also add: there's a little "L:" at the top of your page; not sure if you meant to put that there. Brambleclawx 22:16, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Ft_Lowell_Aspen_Lane.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:34, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, uh, see Wikipedia:Peer review/MacBook Air/archive1. Oh, and try not to open SPIs prematurely, until real damage is done. fetch·comms 23:51, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and <3 fox's userpage? Don't forget the attribution... fetch·comms 23:53, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Apologize. I looked it over; MacBook Air is my current project now. I added attribution as well.--moɳo 01:14, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some thoughts: edit counts prominently displayed may lead others to believe you have editcountits. I meant attribution for the images as well (hint: change the width to 99% near the middle). fetch·comms 15:03, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What exactly did your old deleted image tag use, by-sa 3.0? CC licenses are non revokable, so if you used another earlier, it'd be dual licensed now, unless the other was PD or something, then it's still PD. fetch·comms 15:10, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted your revision [1] to User:NerdyScienceDude/Vandalism_space

I have undid your clearing of my vandalbox since it goes against one of my rules of what you can do here. Even if you MfD it, you shouldn't blank it. ~NerdyScienceDude () 21:44, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Images

Uh, for useful, encyclopedic images like File:TextEdit-screenshot.png or File:AirPort Utility icon.png which are still in articles, please don't tag it for deletion. Just add a fair use rationale. It makes things a lot easier, and if you don't have time to do it, just skip the image. There is little use in tagging these as it either removes relevant images or makes someone else do the work. fetch·comms 01:34, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That is, for non-free images being used under a rational claim of fair use. fetch·comms 01:38, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
File:TextEdit-screenshot.png has no claim of fair use. moɳo 02:05, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
FC is asking if you could add one instead of tag it. It saves work and server space, which you are concerned about, as it takes one less revision per file to add it yourself instead of tagging it and making someone else do the work. If you're not sure how, WP:FURG has directions (it states, "Please consider, as an alternative to deletion, fixing the description page, if possible."). I was going to tell you when I saw your contribution log, but frankly, I'm tired of constantly being in conflicts with you. So I abstained. Until now, of course :). Oh, and on MacBook Air, I would use as little Apple refs (primary sources) as possible for anything and everything possible, instead opting for reliable third party sources. Airplaneman 02:48, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)(edit conflict)(edit conflict) I cannot, as I have no idea where it came from. Also, I know how to do a fair use rationale; see File:ISight Logo.png. I am uploading a different version that I just took. moɳo 02:55, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll leave that alone. I've left some comments on MBA's peer review page. Shouldn't this be on the peer review page as well? Airplaneman 03:07, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed. moɳo 03:08, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Cool; wasn't sure. To be on the safe side, I told you :). Kinda like a talkback template. Oh, and again, erm... shouldn't this be on the peer review page as well?Airplaneman 03:10, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you fill this in? moɳo 02:36, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I added the fair-use rationals on the first image and added the copyright tag on the second image since it looked self-explanatory. You can use FurMe to add fair-use rationals to images. ~NerdyScienceDude () 03:07, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I do. moɳo 03:08, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you might want to shrink the font size in your editnotice, as it only displays NerdyScien. ~NerdyScienceDude () 03:26, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted your revision [2] to File:TextEdit-screenshot.png

I undid your last edit because it is used in two articles. ~NerdyScienceDude () 03:11, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm

The picture doesn't work with the making new section and whatnot (only wikilinks, I think). It's also really big and not disappearing like it's supposed to. And you archive stuff really fast. But anyhow, it's not too hard to figure out where a non-free image comes from. (And I think it's often OK to say "can be obtained from XXX company", as the fair use rationale templates use that sometimes.) Good luck on MacBook Air... I've always been tempted to work on a Mac article, but it's not really my niche. fetch·comms 19:20, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A possibility for an award.

Hey Mono, I like the new importance parameter you added to Template:WikiProject Apple Inc.. One problem: template-, file-, and portal-space pages are now asking for an importance rating, something not done before. I don't think this is necessary; please make it so that only articles have importance ratings (basically, like it was before). I like the links you put there, though :). And I am planning to participate in the backlog elimination drive! Airplaneman 21:19, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, unassessed importance articles should be placed in Category:Unknown-importance_Apple_Inc._articles; they are currently sorted into Category:-importance Apple Inc. articles for some reason. Please fix. Airplaneman 21:23, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I really did like the link to the project's assessment section, so I re-added it. Thanks for fixing! Airplaneman 21:35, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looked broken to me. I'm glad you fixed it; see WP:APPLE#Backlog.--mono 21:38, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see you have a new font in your sig; it's one of my favorites (after Arial, Verdana, and Times New Roman). I commented on User_talk:Oneiros#Overtagging. As for the elimination drive, what incentives are you going to give participants? What rewards are there :)? How will you track assessments? I considered doing one but couldn't think of a good way to track assessments. Airplaneman 21:44, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Backlog_elimination_drives/May_2010 for a similar drive.--mono 21:46, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I get it: submit the diff to each assessed article. I'm thinking tedious but doable. Airplaneman 21:54, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

←Head over there and take a look now. mono 22:25, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cool! I don't need talkback templates, as I have your talkpage watchlisted :). Airplaneman 22:38, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
About the assessment backlog: can I assess only the importance or only the quality of the article if that is the only field missing, or do those not count? Airplaneman 00:57, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Assess both so we don't have to do it later.--mono 01:19, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Loldrives. Tb at over tagging thread, and I might just assess some articles for fun. Not as if I didn't do this for another project already 9_9. Recording diffs takes too long, so I'll forgo the awards :) fetch·comms 01:10, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I may let that go. It was Airplaneman's idea; seems a little tedious, as he mentioned. I will also change the awards a little; I found the cool pic above.--mono 01:19, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Would you like to U1 your guestbook per your comment here? Airplaneman 02:17, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No thanks.--mono 02:19, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hyee! Not to be an idiot, but what is an backlog elimination drive? If it sounds interesting, I'll participate! Dwayne was here! 22:47, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Read all about it! Read all about it! Read all about it! at WP:APPLE#Backlog.--mono 22:52, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to recycle this section. I recently signed up for this drive, and I've got a question: When we log our edits, do you have to approve them and update our count, or do we do that ourselves? I was a bit confused upon seeing some of the edits having "completed" next to them, and others not (including your own, which is weird). Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 00:04, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any member may approve another member's edits. It's not too important; just to make sure everyone's actually doing work.--mono 00:06, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay. So I'm guessing it's not advised to approve your own. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 00:20, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Will clarify on page; if you approve your own you'll be penalized.--mono 00:21, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit notice

I shrank the font size so it fits longer usernames. ~NerdyScienceDude () 00:23, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I deliberately set it the original way for a odd impact.--mono 00:25, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Consistency with other articles isn't really a reason for disambiguation. It should only be used when the target, in this case Grover Underwood, could reasonably be one or more subjects. In this case, there is only one Grover Underwood with an article, and thus we don't need to specify in the article title that this one is from the Percy Jackson franchise. I'd also like to point out that only two other characters use disambiguation. There's a reason for that. Tyson and Annabeth Chase are not specific to the franchise. A descriptive edit summary so that we can easily find this edit.

I requested an account on the ACC account creation interface.--mono 18:39, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request so welcome to the team. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on IRC where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and to get any advice on requests as well as the mailing list. Please note that we have implemented a policy of zero tolerance on mishandled requests, and that failure to assess correctly will result in suspension.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day (a day being from 0:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC), although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed". However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM.
Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse will result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! ---- Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 18:54, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.--mono 22:22, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Woot you get to be annoyed by me at ACC now :/. A word of advice about that, read up on writing nice messages to new users, and rangeblocks. And get a real IRC client. Oh, and read the instructions of course. Anyhow, my main intent was about the edit notice thing... Why bother 3 people about it? Were you in that much of a hurry to get it created? Is it that important you couldn't even wait for me to make it the next day?... fetch·comms 18:45, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Read the instructions; looking over rangeblocks. My articlespace edit percentage is creeping up!--mono 18:49, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ouch. And the answer to my other question? fetch·comms 19:27, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
At least it is improving!--mono 22:21, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
...Answer to second question awaits. fetch·comms 23:08, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey again!

Hey Mono, i looked over the backlog elimination drive. Im still not understanding, am i supposed to help clean up articles or something like that? As long as its not hard or dosen't require a ton of work then i wouldn't mind joining. I want to participate in things in the project to show that i am still active. Dwayne was here! 20:55, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All you have to do is assess (or "rate") articles based on the criteria here. SInce there are currently 0 unassessed articles, we need to assess (rate) them all based on quality and importance.--mono 22:20, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apple Inc. Assessments

Hey Mono. I'm not too sure about two of the assessments that you made for AnyLogic and Alpine (e-mail client). In these assessments, you removed the WikiProject Apple Inc. header, which I assume you did because they aren't related to Apple Inc. I looked into both of those programs, and they both are available for Mac OS. Would that make it enough to be covered by the WikiProject? Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 01:47, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We only want articles that are somewhat significant to Apple Inc. There are thousands of articles that are "related" to Apple, but not in the scope of the project.--mono 01:49, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
All right, wanted to make sure. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 01:57, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Going along with that, I'm guessing that several of the program-related articles I recently assessed should also be deprived of their WikiProject Apple Inc. status. I'll remove them as soon as I've got time. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 02:05, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any script for this assessment job? Oh, +pings at MacBook Air PR page. fetch·comms 02:18, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
About Apple software - I always assess third party software as low-importance for WP:APPLE, or least with
{{WikiProject Computing|class=|importance=|software=yes|software-importance=}}
. If you don't want third party Apple software assessed, you should detail that as well in the assessment section. Airplaneman 02:20, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

←@Fetchcomms: I put in a request to User:Drilnoth for WP:ASSESSOR, a script for this. I've started coding something based on this; I'll post it ASAP. I'll take a look at the PR page. @Airman: I will add that.--mono 02:50, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So mono, I found a cross-platform software and am not logging it because I changed it to WikiProject Computing. This is the kind of stuff not wanted in WP:APPLE, correct? (cross-platform software). Airplaneman 03:05, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. It is related to Apple Inc. in that it just happens to run on Mac, however it has little significance to the project.--mono 03:07, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
@Fetchcomms: See my reply at PR.--mono 03:07, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good, because 21 of 25 of "our" FAs fall under that category. (I've since detagged them.) Also, contrary to popular belief, having a big, colorful banner with icons does not make people want to work on your pet project. It annoys them. HereToHelp (talk to me) 04:31, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fine.--mono 04:33, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was actually surprised to see your reply at WT:APPLE#Priorities. After what seemed to be a lot of triviality, to see someone else agreeing with me (and citing wp:dew, after doing just that, but after your self-revert I'll let that go) - was unexpected. My previous comment here, and on the WikiProject talk page, were a little upset and vaguely accusatory; I apologize. We can get to work on Macintosh - tomorrow morning. Cheers, HereToHelp (talk to me) 04:45, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So, uh, fix the problem instead of tagging it. You only needed to add one (1) curly brace that was forgotten to make the template show. Only. 1! If you can't take the time to look over what you're tagging and fix it first, please do the project a favor by not CSDing anything others just have to fix for you later. fetch·comms 20:50, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I'll have to ponder whether or not to install a separate app, as I am not going back to FF despite the greater compatability and better font for the eyes in the edit window (Arial vs. Courier - I'm still sticking with the polished metal). Airplaneman 03:24, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
