Hello, Morgan695. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "List of comic festivals and alternative comics conventions".

Miyako Maki translation[edit]

I'm working on a translation of the French article on Miyako Maki, is there a way we can collaborate on this as a draft, or should I just paste it into the main article? --159.196.100.171 (talk) 11:50, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@159.196.100.171: You can just work in the main article. This isn't a subject I know enough about (or am really interested in enough) to contribute to the development of an article, but I'm happy to review the article once you've finished the translation. Morgan695 (talk) 19:30, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I think it's ready for you to take your pass over it, when you're ready. I linked to jojoga in The Heart of Thomas to try to build more context there for you. --159.196.100.171 (talk) 00:08, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@159.196.100.171: Yes I saw, thank you for that! I will take a look in the next few days. Morgan695 (talk) 00:20, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@159.196.100.171: This article still needs a lot of work; I think a move to the mainspace was premature. It appears to just be a machine translated version of the French article, with a lot of clunky prose, broken links, and passages that don't make sense (e.g., what does "provides her with Tezuka’s boards in order to perfect her art" even mean)? The prose issues at least need to be resolved before I feel like I'll be able to offer meaningful feedback. Morgan695 (talk) 03:21, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your honest feedback on my most ambitious translation to date. I've put a request to copy edit it at the guild of copy editors and resolved the passage about Tezuka's boards - Maki was given a manuscript of Tezuka's to learn from. --159.196.100.171 (talk) 20:36, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been copyedited now, would you care to take a look at it? --159.196.100.171 (talk) 10:43, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll take a look in the next few days. Morgan695 (talk) 19:37, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A Digimon character article?[edit]

You think it might be possible to create an article for a Digimon character? The biggest possibility I find is Agumon since Mamoru Hosoda was interviewed about it in the OVAs. I can't find reception about the first series but there sure is a lot of about Tri, Last Evolution Kizuna and the reboot. Still, I'm not confident about creating such article on my own. Created the article Agumon but it still lacks content.Tintor2 (talk) 02:00, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tintor2: I actually don't have that deep of a literacy of Digimon as a franchise, outside of watching the dubbed version when I was a kid and a general fondness for the visuals of Our War Game, so I don't know how much help I'd be in writing an article on the topic. I did link Agumon with the equivalent pages on the non-English Wikipedias, so you might be able to scrape some content from there. Morgan695 (talk) 03:03, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Manga articles[edit]

Last week, newspapers dot com had a free weekend, and I clipped a lot of articles on anime and manga. This includes a few articles from the late 70's and 80's discussing manga. It's a paid subscription archive of mostly American newspapers going back centuries, but once something is clipped it becomes freely viewable by anyone. A jew keywords that might be relevant to you:

Sources/Reviews for BL manga[edit]

Hello Morgan695! Since you seem to be knowledgeable in this area, I wanted to ask if you know any good, reliable websites for BL manga. Vicky a common Finnish male name?[edit]

In the article Kake (comics), you wrote "In early appearances Mike was named Vicky, a common Finnish male name." Well I am Finnish myself and speak Finnish natively, and don't think Vicky is a common Finnish name, least of all male. I asked about this at the Finnish Wikipedia at fi:Wikipedia:Kahvihuone (kysy vapaasti)#Vicky and people there don't think it's a common Finnish male name either. What exactly does the cited source say? Have you perhaps got the name confused with "Viki" (note no c and i instead of y)? JIP | Talk 12:43, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@JIP: Direct excerpt from The Complete Kake Comics is "He tried out a blonde man named Vicky – a common male name in Finland – who was quickly renamed Mike." The writer may have been referring to the name "Viki" – these comics were also published in the 1960s, so it might also be the case that it was a common name ~60 years ago but is antiquated now. Some quick thoughts[edit]

Hello Morgan695. In case you are unaware, after I withdrew my FA-nomination of Your Lie in April, I have since gotten it copyedited and have reviewed it myself. Before I re-nominate it, I wanted some quick thoughts from someone who has experience promoting articles to FA-status, which you have. If you have any, it will be much appreciated. Regards, Link20XX (talk) 23:10, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Link20XX: Are there any scholarly sources you can leverage for an Analysis section? Anime and manga series articles often have a hard time at FAC because unless it's a massively mainstream phenomenon, or at least significantly influential in the way that something like The Heart of Thomas is, the scholarly content often just isn't there. The Development section also seems kind of bare; compare to the Development section of Thomas, which much more extensively discusses the context of the work, its production timeline, etc. Morgan695 (talk) 01:25, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice. As for scholarly sources, I admit I am largely unfamiliar with the best places to find these. I searched on Google Scholar and JStor and found one or two on the former that I could potentially use. As for the production section, I admit that with the series being fairly new, there aren't too many sources available to expand the section, and honestly I'm surprised I was able to get this much. For the section, I used the Naruto article as a model, which has a fairly short section overall, especially when compared to The Heart of Thomas' section. Anyway, I will see if I can find anything to expand the production and see if I can find more scholary sources to use and see if I can possibly write something for a themes section. Again, thanks. Your behaviour at Yuri (genre)[edit]

Hi Morgan695 - I saw Sunrise Minecraft's message at the Teahouse and was a little disappointed at your reply to their query. I'd have expected an experienced editor such as yourself to be more civil with our newer editors, and not to try to divert them away from discussing a content issue on the article's talk page. I appreciate your content contributions to the project, but would humbly ask that you bear in mind what it was like when you first started editing - its one heck of a learning curve, and its up to all of us to train up the next generation of editors -- TNT (talk • she/her) 18:29, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, in contrast to TNT, I see nothing offensive or BITEy in your post to that talk page, and you certainly did not divert them from discussing the issue – on the contrary, pointing to a more appropriate place for a discussion is exactly what we should all be doing when needed. --bonadea contributions talk 17:31, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Do you have an opinion on this?

Regards. --Thibaut (talk) 02:53, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thibaut120094 I think the ultimate issue here may be that "Fan convention" is a faulty article (not shocking, considering that it's had a cite tag since 2009). To me, a "fan convention" is any organized gathering of enthusiasts on a particular subject, and does not necessarily have the traits that we commonly associate with comic book conventions, e.g. autographs, celebrity photo ops, etc. Morgan695 (talk) 20:41, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for China Chalet[edit]

On 10 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article China Chalet, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that The New York Times described China Chalet "as if New York's art world had been transported to a Holiday Inn in the Midwest"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/China Chalet.
