Ru Paul

[edit]

I have declined your edit protected request on the Season 12 talk page. The article is protected from editing due to edit warring over the contestant progress table. Until there is a consensus on how to proceed, or an agreement no to edit war over the high/low/safe etc then the article will remain protected. Given your interest in Ru Paul articles, and the Season 12 article, your involvement in the discussion at the project talk page would be very welcome. Woody (talk) 10:15, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RuPaul

[edit]

I just want to edit the table to add yesterday’s episode where Gigi won and Crystal and Jackie in the bottom lipsyncing to On The Floor by J-Lo with Jackie having to go home. MrMcCheeseMan (talk) 12:40, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article was fully protected from editing as a number of editors were constantly reverting each other (edit warring) over the contestant progress table ie the subjective elements of High/Safe/Low. As long as your edit isn't changing or introducing these, if you put the precise edit you want made ie change this line to this, backed up by a reliable source, on the article talkpage with an edit request as before it should be carried out. Woody (talk) 12:49, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Then can you add the changes? MrMcCheeseMan (talk) 20:22, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As I said above, as long as your edit isn't about the issue under contention, if you put the precise edit you want made ie change this line to this, backed up by a reliable source, on the article talkpage with an edit request as before it should be carried out. This edit was made as a result of a request on the talk page. Woody (talk) 21:47, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t understand what you mean, I literally just wanted to edit the page and go about my day, but for some reason I can’t do that. I’m not the one changing the high and low stuff. All I do is add the new episode placements and that’s all I want to do. Not go through all this annoying stuff. MrMcCheeseMan (talk) 22:58, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Which part don't you understand? The whole page is protected from editing because several editors were constantly changing the same piece of text to meet their own opinions and not in accordance with any reliable sources. We can't protect a part of the page. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, everything needs to be verifiable and backed up by reliable sources. Wikipedia goes by consensus and the page will not be unprotected until a consensus is reached. Woody (talk) 08:38, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay can you now add the reunited episode where everyone except for sherry is in the episode? MrMcCheeseMan (talk) 00:15, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also the new disclaimer states she doesn’t appear in the finale so you can add that she is disqualified MrMcCheeseMan (talk) 02:04, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Drag Race All Stars Season 5

[edit]

You appear to have tried to restore a previous version of the contestants table which is not deemed accessible.

  • There was a discussion earlier in the year at: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_RuPaul's_Drag_Race#Web_accessibility_and_adhering_to_the_manual_of_style about the need for the tables in this article, and others in the series, to comply with MOS:ACCESS. In particular, the article fails chronically on MOS:TABLE and MOS:COLOUR.
  • The manual of style says "ensure that color is not the only method used to convey important information.", so where SAFE is used twice (once in cornsilk and once in white), this is a violation of the guidelines.
  • MOS:ONWHITE gives the full accessibility range of colours that should be used where colour is being used as outlined where it saysn Some readers of Wikipedia are partially or fully color-blind or visually impaired. Ensure the contrast of the text with its background reaches at least Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0's AA level, and AAA level when feasible (see WCAG's "Understanding SC 1.4.3: Contrast (Minimum)")
  • MOS:SMALL advises against any minimisations in text size - Reduced or enlarged font sizes should be used sparingly, and are usually done with automated page elements such as headings, table headers, and standardized templates
  • MOS:ABBR denotes that abbreviations do not serve as much purpose where they are not referenced or recognised. Reduced or enlarged font sizes should be used sparingly, and are usually done with automated page elements such as headings, table headers, and standardized templates

If you reverted them because you don't like it or understand it, that's unacceptable. The changes suggested are to comply with web accessibility, which legality aside, is about making the internet more inclusive for editors who are hard of sight or disabled and accessed the internet differently to you or I. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 15:39, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
