5/5/2000

A tag has been placed on 5/5/2000, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Gaff ταλκ 01:46, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

June 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with 5/5/2000. If you do not believe the article should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. -- pb30<talk> 01:56, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Your article

I'm not skeptical that it's a real band. I could care less if it was a real band; what I care about is if it's a notable band, and the article simply does not make that assertion to me. The article doesn't present anything that asserts it's notability. 02:14, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Categories:List of drone doom bands, by Pb30, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Categories:List of drone doom bands fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Categories:List of drone doom bands, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Categories:List of drone doom bands itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 02:19, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Feedback

I notice that you have been adding year links to various articles. Although this shows good spirit, doing so is generally discouraged. For more information, see:

Other than that, don't forget to write edit summaries! They help future editors a lot when reviewing page histories. --Piet Delport 01:48, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Disagreeing with an article is not grounds for deletion. You may edit the article to make it conform with WP:V and WP:NOR if you disagree with the contents. Sandstein 11:32, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

re: Guestbook

Actually, I got the guestbook idea from the Homestar runner Wiki, where they were once very common but are no longer allowed (not on principle, but in practice their Recent Changes was being clogged with guestbook signings.) Y0u | Y0ur talk page 16:54, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Woodstock 2009

Woodstock 2009, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Woodstock 2009 satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Woodstock 2009 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Woodstock 2009 during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Brianga 04:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Are you aware that most of this article is a cut & paste (and thus a copyright violation) from the band's website? Can you rewrite this in your own words? Joyous! | Talk 04:17, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, in the future, please use the Move tab to "rename" articles--the content should not be transfered via cut&paste. Using cut&paste separates the content from its edit history, which is a problem with the GFDL license, among other things, which admins then have to clean up. Seattlenow 04:39, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I know it wasn't your copyright problem, but I wanted to give you a heads-up before I submit the article for deletion, in case you wanted to try and fix it. Joyous! | Talk 12:02, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Copyright status of Timeloss

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Timeloss. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites ({{{url}}} in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Timeloss with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Timeloss with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Timeloss saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you want to edit constructively, take a look at the welcome page. Thank you. Haemo 02:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the Wilde link

I have noticed that on July 10, 2007, you tagged the album page of Age Eternal by Middian for deletion. I am curious as to why it was tagged for deletion in the first place and why it is still tagged in that manner. I fixed up the review section, so that it could be in the Appropriate place and put the other reviews with no official rating in the extrnal link section, but it's still on for deletion. I don't know why it's still up for deletion, so that's why I asked you, since you're the dude who tagged it in the first place.

Sincerely,

Backtable71792 13:03, 27 August 2007

  • If you'll read the AfD for that album, the band's article had been deleted. Before the AfD closed, the band's article was re-created and I withdrew the nomination. I guess the admin who closed it neglected to remove the tag from the album's article. Feel free to remove the AfD template from that article. Precious Roy 17:14, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Please note

Please note that you do not need to put [[ ]] around every single band or band member. If there is no link to that band, person or thing in wikipedia, then you should not make it a link. This only makes it appear in red and when someone clicks on it, they go nowhere special. Only put [[ ]] around things that have pages here on wikipedia. Navnløs 21:58, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Odin is my lord and master

I don't like organized religion, but I do have an affinity for paganism. I don't take the stuff too seriously, though, and there are times I will claim to worship satan as well, or things of this nature, but that is for fun and shock value, as I don't believe in satan. As for encyclopaedia metallum, I rarely use the site, but I find it useful at times to look up certain things like discography. Navnløs 17:52, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Also, there's actually no reason to join metal-archives, unless you want to add bands to their database. Navnløs 18:08, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Good stuff, actually I'm surprised Porcupine Tree doesn't have a page on metal-archives...but if it's not there, there's most likely a reason and they may not allow you to add them. Navnløs 22:20, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Mike Scheidt

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mike Scheidt, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Mike Scheidt. From These Wounds - detecting spelling errors

It's a simple trick. See User:Lupin/Anti-vandal tool. One of the features it provides is "Live spellcheck", which flashes up recent edits (within seconds) that have words misspelled. The wonder is not how fast I caught it, but what I was doing for nearly 5 minutes before I fixed it; I don't remember. Happy editing! Chris the speller (talk) 02:21, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello! I see that you like The 3rd and the Mortal. I think they're one of the most underrated bands of all time. :) My favorite albums of theirs are Painting on Glass and In This Room.

I think the last sentence of paragraph 3 on The 3rd and the Mortal page needs to be revised in some way to make more sense. I'm not sure what I would do about it. Also, it would be a good thing to have album covers on the Painting on Glass and In This Room pages and maybe a band picture on The 3rd and the Mortal page. I would have done it myself but don't yet know how to.

Well, I thought I'd basically say hi because it's not often that I come into contact with another fan. :) Cold103 (talk) 12:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Iced Earth - The Crucible Of Man

Hi. You added the tracklist for an "American version" of the new Iced Earth album, the Crucible Of Man. However, what you posted was the tentative tracklist, which was far from final (it was posted on Blabbermouth 1.5 years before the album is released, and still long before it was completely recorded). Last week I posted the final tracklist, which I have straight from the promo-cd I received. I interviewed Jon Schaffer today and nowhere did he mention multiple versions. I'm sure he would have, since we did discuss the separate versions of The Glorious Burden, amongst other things. Tokus (talk) 21:02, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. Currently, music articles have to meet notability guidelines outlined at WP:MUSIC in order to be eligible for a Wikipedia article. Under the "Albums" section, it says "Demos, mixtapes, bootlegs, promo-only, and unreleased albums are in general not notable; however, they may be notable if they have significant independent coverage in reliable sources". In order to save these articles, you'd have to demonstrate that these articles have received "significant independent coverage in reliable sources" of course. If you can, these articles will be saved. You can remove the tags I placed on those articles if you object to their deletion for any specific reason, but then the articles could still resurface at WP:AFD. I hope this helps. LuciferMorgan (talk) 12:51, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

"THERE ARE ENOUGH ALBUMS RELEASED TO AVOID AN A7!"

Your edit note, in removing a {{db-a7}} template was "DECLINE SPEEDY, THERE ARE ENOUGH ALBUMS RELEASED TO AVOID AN A7!". A7 is not about notability. A7 is about stating the importance or significance of an article in its lead, which is something that isn't done in the Aborted article. The number of albums would help establish notability if notability were the reason for an AfD, but that isn't the case.  X  S  G  02:53, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I actually didn't want the Aborted article to be deleted at all; I wanted the folks who chose to create and maintain the article to alter the article conform to Wikipedia's policies. The Aborted article had already withstood an AfD due to notability (as it should have; it fulfills Wikipedia's notability guidelines for a band), however it wasn't properly written. I anticipate that at some point someone will attempt to recreate the Aborted article. I'll check in to make sure that the article conforms to Wikipedia's policies. If it does, I'll leave it alone. If it doesn't, I'll try to help out either by adding content if I can find it or by adding discussion on what should be modified to improve the article. As for using a Proposed Deletion (prod) template, prods should be used for uncontroversial deletions. Deleting Aborted would have been controversial and therefore prod is inappropriate. Once a well-written Aborted article is established, it will pass any prod or AfD.  X  S  G  17:08, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Also, when you added your note on my talk page, it became evident that you're unfamiliar with the <nowiki>...</nowiki> tags. If you place a template name within these tags, the template name will appear rather than Wikipedia inserting the template. For example: {{subst:prod|reason for deletion}}. I hope this helps you out in the future.  X  S  G  17:11, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Bergthron

A tag has been placed on Bergthron requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. andy (talk) 22:42, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Art Metal (band)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Art Metal (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Fails to meet notability guidelines

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 71.203.185.189 (talk) 23:41, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

I do understand the justification, but I don't know what to do about the article, per se. I can find no third-party sources whatsoever. They simply do not exist anywhere. For a group of established musicians, it's awkwardly inconspicuous. I would say redirect to the artist's page, but you can't possibly redirect to five different pages, and unless I can find a source that says one is the lead and everyone else are guest musicians, I'm almost stuck here. Anyway, I'm not going to go through the AfD process any time soon, but if you have some sources, it would really help the article. Cheers. 71.203.185.189 (talk) 01:41, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Alright, good luck! If you happen to find a source calling them progressive metal, feel free to add them back onto the List of progressive metal artists. I'm getting close to finishing all of the initial citations for the page (finally), and any cited additions are welcome. 71.203.185.189 (talk) 02:50, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
I've been doing it this way for a long time. It has certain benefits which I like to take advantage of (such as having no list of all the pages I never got around to fixing and no way for people to chase me down to make requests of me). For running AfDs, I have SPAs (although they never actually caused me a problem until recently when I chose the wrong name for one). Either way, I prefer doing it this way. Thanks for the suggestion anyway, though you may well be the 100th person to make it. Happy editing! 71.203.185.189 (talk) 03:10, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
