Sourcing

Hi Backtable, I see that you are interested in music articles, but you may not be very familiar with our sourcing guidelines. One of the core policies on Wikipedia is verifiability, and I noticed that you have provided some sources. However, sources need to be reliable and independent. Myspace is not considered a good source. For the most part, neither are blogs or websites. Sources should be independent of the topic (so anything the band puts out is not a great source to establish notability, and neither is anything their label says about them). Sanctus Ignis tracklist

I have added the missing track length to the best of my ability and divided the versions, but I'm at a bit of a loss at this point for how many versions there actually are. Niflheim is listed as a demo/bonus track, but I haven't actually seen a version without it. On Musicbrainz, there are 3 versions listed, one with no demo/bonus, one with only the Niflheim demo, and one with the Stringless Violin demo as well, while the Japanese version is ostensibly missing. My edits

I just thought I'd ask politely, some of your edit summaries following edits I've made (Trail of Tears albums) seem a little sarcastic. I do apologize if edit summaries I've made seem obvious, we know YOU know Wiki isn't for random reviews but I made the effort to make it clear to the user who put the thing there; they might just be new, as it's unlikely a troll would bother finding an entire review to plop into an album article. So it's not very constructive to take the piss. If on the other hand I've misunderstood the situation and there IS a problem with any edits I've made (such as might merit a 'Geez'), I am sorry and I'll do my best to improve the quality of what I'm doing as I'm still getting the hang of Wiki, and would like to stay friendly with people who could give me any advice. 'Weasel Words' Rule in Black Clouds & Silver Linings: Reception

Just thought I'd comment on the back-and-forth you've been having with "71.109.231.67" in regards to the line "Currently, the album has received positive reviews." In your most recent deletion of that line, you cited the weasel words rule as your motive. I was just curious as to your reasoning in saying that. As I understand it, that rule prohibits "words or phrases that seemingly support statements without attributing opinions to verifiable sources" (from the weasel words guideline article). He backed up the statement "Currently, the album has received positive reviews" with positive reviews from Allmusic and from Rich Wilson's article for Metal Hammer. Considering the reviews the album has received so far, do you disagree that the current state of Reception is 'positive?' Do you think he's generalizing too much from these early reviews? Obzen's album reception

hello there,

Regarding the obzen edit that I did yesterday, I just want to point out that I was only interested in adding some opinions from the trustworthy Metal critics like Terrorizer, Decibel & ZT magazines, since those three magazines are considered the big 3 in the Metal community.

As far as weasels go, the article already stated that the album received generally positive reviews and I was only extending on that fact. I would love to provide some sources for my claims but those lines and reviews that I provided came from "printed" magazines and not online resources. However, I have a link to the Decibel review but that link doesn't show the line that I put in the article, do you think that adding the link as a reference would make a difference ?

And about the fact that the album has been included in a lot of year's end lists I will be more than happy to provide links.

I've been involved in the Metal scene for more than 10 years, I've written for a number of Metal sites, fanzines and blogs and I've also edited a few pages here but I just recently got an account, its good to see a Metal fan like yourself here since Wikipedia has been plagued with a lot of incorrect information as far as Metal goes.

RE:This is a question concertning reflist text.

Greets. The number ("2" in this case) determines the number of columns in which the references are arranged. If the text of an avarage reference in that article is short (which it is in 95% cases), you can prevent the blank space that is on the right behind the references and save space in the article by arraging the references into columns. Well I know that for the most part I know there lryics have to do with things such as Mayan Philosophy, fundamentalism within religion one only need to read the lryics for the song Facade Of Reality or Fools of Damnation. in regards to the vandalism comment about BC&SL by Dream Theater

i wasnt vandalizing the page, people have been deleting the ratings from the albums of the Dream Theater pages, and the remaining reviews were all low. Its not fair to leave out fair information, so i deleted the mojo rating. It wasnt even a review, it was a compilation of other peoples reviews. Was just looking over some of the bands you listen to. Nice to see another soul who has heard of Nektar, let alone listened to their music. Noticed one band missing from your list that you may like. Between the Buried and Me. Sort of death-metal Opeth meets you're-too-good-on-the-guitar-you-bastard Symphony X. Check out Ants of the Sky and Selkies the Endless Obsession if you fancy.

CfD nomination of Category:Funeral albums

Genre Project

Ok so for about 3 years now I have been tagging nearly every genre article. Recently I have stepped things up a bit and been doing things like this [1], and this [2]. I've been going through and adding citation needed tags,I'm trying not to be to pointy though you could add the tag to every sentence in some articles.

Mellotron Heart

Yeah- it was probably best mentioned on the mellotron heart talk page. I definitely agree that it's worth mentioning on the Watershed page. And maybe even an article of its own depending on coverage. But from my understanding, it was never released on its own commercially or to radio, and no video was made, so the single designation doesn't seem quite right. It was included as a promo disc with Watershed, and it was a B-Side on the Burden single. It just doesn't seem to me that it should be listed under "singles." Okay- I just did a little thinking about this, after the overwhelming indifference in all applicable pages. Mellotron Heart is the same song as Porcelain Heart. Basically an Opeth cover. So it really should be merged into Porcelain Heart, much like how other cover versions are mentioned in the original song's article. Thanks for your response! Prog Archives is only one of the sites I use. I understand that several sites and outside references (such as Rocking The Classics by Edward Macan) could be used to triangulate a proper definition. I would like to update the "Symphonic Prog" page as well as bring back the "Avant Prog" page.
