Suzanne Kohn[edit]

I've not done the research: are we sure that Suzanne Kohn and Suzanne Kohn (aviator) are not one and the same person. Both French. Both Jewish. One rich. The other able to fund her aviation activities. You've noted Not to be confused with Suzanne Kohn (aviator). Can you confirm that is really the case? thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:47, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you look at the names of those two people you will see that in Suzanne Kohn's case, "Kohn" was her married name; but in the case of Suzanne Kohn (aviator), "Kohn" was her birth name. So that would indicate two separate people.MurielMary (talk) 09:00, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah; very good. I had not spotted that. Thanks, MurielMary. --Tagishsimon (talk) 10:10, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Don't ping me please[edit]

Please leave me out of the conversation and stop pinging me. I'll go back to improving Wikipedia, and you and your project colleagues can go back to discouraging people like me. It's little wonder so few people are prepared to get involved. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:51, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

April 15[edit]

The one death article on this date had to be replaced, but the best replacement I found was Greta Garbo, so I ended up replacing Emma Watson, and I found another FA (Leonhard Euler) for a birth article. howcheng {chat} 18:38, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Allegra Byron[edit]

I have reverted your edits, which removed large portions of cited information without discussion. I wrote the article and it has gone through the Good Article review process. There is nothing that needs to be removed. Given the historical information of the subject matter, I'm not sure there is anything new to add either. Moran[edit]

I think it's best if some of the attempts at communication on this issue occur here rather than the article talk page. I can accept your removal of the entire filmography as a good faith though misguided effort. And I can understand that emotions and accusations on the talk page have made communication difficult, and to whatever extent I contributed to that I apologize. But I hope you will take a moment to realize that the issue isn't really about IMDb. It's about the film itself being the source, which is the way almost every item in every filmography is sourced. I've seen some exceptions with upcoming films where the film itself is not available, or with uncredited roles. If you want to challenge an uncredited role I don't have a problem with that. I really don't want this to escalate to an RfC or ANI report because that takes our time away from other things here and in real life (although I've never hesitated to do that if necessary). I don't plan to comment further on the Moran talk page unless others who haven't discussed the issue chime in, and I have encouraged IP 2605 not to do so. I hope you will consider my comments in the spirit in which they are intended, which is to improve the article as well as defuse unnecessary conflict. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 16:57, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a note here, Sundayclose. I agree with your assessment of the emotions etc getting in the way of constructive discussion of the issue (the question of reliable sourcing). In my experience of WP sourcing, an actor's appearance in a film has been cited to a film review or news report etc rather then relying on IMDb because it's user-generated. That's also how I've read the policies/guidelines etc and that's what I wanted to achieve on the Moran article, particularly because I wanted it to appear on the main page under recent deaths, and the editors who contribute to those choices are of the opinion that IMDb isn't a valid source. Thanks again for the communication, much appreciated. MurielMary (talk) 06:19, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Foggymaize[edit]

H MurielMary. Not sure if you remember me, but we have crossed paths a few times a while ago. I know you are interested in New Zealand women biographies. My wife has decided to join wikipedia and New Zealand and Australian women biographies will be probably be her main focus. She has only just started so time will tell how active she becomes, knowing her she may well become very active. Seeing as you share the same interests I thought I would let you know. I will help out as much as possible, but any guidance you could give her in this area would be much appreciated. Her user name is Foggymaize (talk · contribs) and the first article she has edited is Helen Wilson (writer). AIRcorn (talk) 07:53, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Keller[edit]

Helen Keller was not born on 4 June, per your edit, so sat on the main page for nine hours erroneously. I should have picked it up in my regular review cycle but missed it. Just thought you should be aware that it was subject to an ERRORS report and was pulled. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:47, 4 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know that.MurielMary (talk) 09:41, 4 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Women In Red Page Needs Some Love[edit]

Thank you, MurielMary, for your support of women on Wikipedia! A page that was restored by the Women in Red Project is in urgent need of an experienced wiki editor to champion it. Unfortunately, a singular editor has made it his mission to undermine the page, and has marked the page for re-deletion. Sending this note in the hopes that you will join the conversation, and give a valuable woman’s voice a chance. Here is the page link. Thanks for all the good you do! A-voice-for-women (talk) 15:50, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"A-voice-for-women" has posted similar messages asking for support to seven user talk pages. She is a new editor, and therefore presumably didn't know that this was contrary to Wikipedia:Canvassing, so I have posted to her talk page to let her know. Kia ora, Muriel Mary. Thanks for taking such an interest in this event and for contributing to the WiR 56 page with more names to be covered. I've forwarded the invitation to most of the editors who appear still to be active in connection with New Zealand but if there are any I have missed, perhaps you could send invitations to their talk pages too (or just let me have their user names). If you run into any difficulties, please let me know. I see it will be 1 September over there in just a few minutes so get ready to contribute in your usual expert way.--Ipigott (talk) 11:52, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DEFAULTSORT[edit]

Hello my friend, thought I'd point out that with every bio that you prepare, the DEFAULTSORT parameter is missing. That's quite important for bios as without them, the article doesn't sort correctly in categories. WP:SORTKEY explains this more fully. Can you please remember to define this from here on in? Schwede66 20:36, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I didn't know about that parameter! Oops! Thanks so much for pointing it out, I will go back and do some tidy-ups and also make sure I use it from now on. Thanks again, much appreciated. MurielMary (talk) 03:14, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for October 8[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Stewart (name), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Helen Stewart (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Statue of Harriet Tubman[edit]

I was delighted to discover your article on the Statue of Harriet Tubman in Ypsilanti, Michigan, my former home town. I did not know about it until reading your article. I am an editor who does a fair amount of sculpture editing and I'd like to make a suggestion. Usually when there are multiple casting of the same work they are all included in one article. The Hiker (Newman) and The Hiker (Kitson) being two good examples. I'd like to see the same approach used with this work, but since it is your work we are talking about it is really up to you. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 18:06, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for stopping by and giving me that feedback, much appreciated! I see your point that it would be logical to put all the castings into one article. I will put that on my writing "to do list". Thanks again! MurielMary (talk) 21:00, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I just emailed DeDecker about some stuff, including that our picture of her work in Ypsilanti is a copyright violation, and what can we do about that? I am looking for her title of the piece before putting out the new article. I think I have it pretty much ready to go.

Harriet Tubman (DeDecker)
The statue of Harriet Tubman is located on the campus of Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. It honors the life of abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

The bronze statue was created by artist Jane DeDecker[1] and gifted to the university in 1997.[2] It is located at the entrance to Thurmond-McRae Lecture Hall[2] and depicts Tubman walking and holding the hand of a young boy. Its installation was the first instance of an educational institution in the southern United States honouring Tubman in such a visible way.[3]

Another casting of the work was originally placed in Little Rock’s Riverfront Park in NEED DATE, however during the construction of the Game and Fish Nature Center in the park it was relocated to the entrance of Clinton Presidential Center[4] as part of a series of six pieces of art lining a walkway from the downtown area of Little Rock to the Presidential Center.[5]

A third casting was unveiled on 21 May, 2006 in Ypsilanti, Michigan as part of a redevelopment of a plaza adjacent to the Ypsilanti District Library.[6]

Two years later, the library board added a plaque to the statue describing Tubman's life and achievements as a response to local queries about the statue; the original plaque was located at the base of the rear of the statue in an area difficult to read easily.[7]

I also just discovered that in 1995 the statue was placed in Harriet Tubman Children's Parke in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa AZ, making it the earliest so far. Carptrash (talk) 00:40, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Marie Darby[edit]

On 4 December 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Marie Darby, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that marine biologist Marie Darby, the first New Zealand woman to visit the Antarctic mainland, sailed to the Ross Sea on a tourist boat that ran aground on its first trip? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Marie Darby. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Marie Darby), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Thanks! I was working from a page in Portuguese that was translated by Google, so it's very likely that the google translation doesn't match the movie translation. No worries, let's use The Vows as that already has an article. MurielMary (talk) 09:19, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
