Hello, MusicMaker5376/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We're glad to have you in our community! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Question

I know I saw a place to download an alternate editor for Firefox, but now I can't find it anywhere. The help system on here is quite comprenhensive, but it's also a little daunting. Thanks! MusicMaker5376 02:01, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. You may want to look WP:TOOLS and Wikipedia:Tools/Browser integration. Let me know if you still need help. :) Gflores Talk 02:10, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Messiah article

Excellent work with the Messiah article. I'm glad to see someone is using all those files I uploaded :) (I feel like I'm pretty much the only one around here who works with sound or video) Raul654 02:01, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

No, I don't see how to make that article better. However, take a look at Wikipedia:Sound/list (it's a page I maintain; it is, as far as I know, unqiue among all the wikiprojects). If you should happen to see any music-related articles that could better be illustrated using the songs there, please add it using the listen and multi-listen templates. Phantom edits

Hi there! I read your edit for Godspell and tried to pattern my POTO edit similarly. I am not entirely happy with it--I still feel it's too long--but it's a start. I'm now wondering what to do about the Music of the Night article. I took out the blatant copyvio, but it's still very biased and definitely needs a good scrub. The rest of the individual song articles could be deleted now, I think.

For Erik...he is named as such in the Leroux and Susan Kay novels, but he's simply "the Phantom" in the musical. I have no idea how it carried over...all I can think is that the name just traveled with the character somehow? Thanks for your help with this article! Namaste, Mademoiselle Sabina 04:10, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Think of Me deletion

It isn't eligable for speedy deletion as it wasn't listed. It isn't likely to be controversial though as all the others have been deleted, I suggest you use WP:PROD. If nobody objects to this it will be deleted after a few days, if someone does object then it gets converted to a normal AfD. Thryduulf 21:33, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Sandbox

I've seen that other editors have their own sandbox. I was wondering how I go about getting one of my own. I'm working on a major edit of an article; it's unfinshed and I want to go to bed. I just want to have someplace that I can post what I have until I can finish it up tomorrow. If you have any other suggestions, I'm open to them, too. -- MusicMaker5376 04:45, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi! You can make user subpages by linking them on your user page or user talk page. For example, you can link to User:MusicMaker5376/sandbox, click on that link, and you can add whatever text you want into that new page. Click save, and it's created! You can also simply link pages like /sandbox. (In this case, this page would be User talk:MusicMaker5376/sandbox, since you're linking it from your user talk page.) If you have any further questions, feel free to leave me a message or put the helpme tag back up! EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 04:56, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, Eric! -- MusicMaker5376 04:59, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Sure, no problem! I should probably also mention that you can create user subpages at any name you'd like. For example, you could have User:MusicMaker5376/random_nonsense. Of course it's recommended that you don't go overboard (WP:NOT a webserver), but unless you go seriously overboard I don't think anyone will complain (I have a little more than a dozen subpages myself).
By the way, I read your user page- funny stuff! Keep up the good work on Wikipedia, and always feel free to leave me a message if you need any help with anything. EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 05:09, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks again! I don't think I'll go too crazy with the subpages, though /random_nonsense may very well be a necessary addition at some point. In case you couldn't tell, I'm a big fan of random nonsense. Big fan.
Re: my Userpage, really, it's the little things.... Levity on Wikipedia! What a novel concept! -- MusicMaker5376 05:18, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Pants

Thats nice. Are you counting dress pants as well? Some people (including myself) do not count them in their inventory of pants. And it isn't necesary to delete what people previously said on the Visitor's Box. La Pizza11 15:40, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Of COURSE I'm counting dress pants. They are the backbone of any pant inventory. The BREAD of the pant sandwich, if you will. And it IS necessary to delete previous comments in the Visitor's Box when they are lame and will detract from the humor and general bizarre-esque-ness of my comment. —  MusicMaker 18:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Ah...too much masturbation must have clouded my senses. La Pizza11 02:19, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, it happens. —  MusicMaker 02:23, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Phish

Thank you for your great contributions and especially your recent wave of citations/research/intiative. Cheers mate! --Moeron 20:18, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Anytime, man. I don't know what's gotten into me lately.... —  MusicMaker 21:30, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Again, *clap* ... You got the bug to do stuff to the page like I did about a two months ago when I went and re-worked/citated the history of the band up till 1990.--Moeron 18:05, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, I think that finally brought it to the point where I could actually READ the article. For the longest time, I couldn't even get the motivation to get through the whole thing. I feel that it's at a much more manageable size right now, but everything after the career just sounds like we tacked them on at the end.
—  MusicMaker 18:11, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Holy sh*t ... love that template. Really ... really commendable work. I am going to tweak/add somethings to the template. Advise/comment withme in it's discussion if you don't approve of the additions. Cheers! --Moeron 02:11, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Go for it. I just based the template on all the other bands (Pink Floyd in particular). I wanted to include Paul Languedoc and Chris Kuroda on the line with Jeff and Daubs, but didnt want to get into a debate. There are probably a few "Related projects" that I left off, feel free to add as necessary.
—  MusicMaker 02:17, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Haha, as you typed it here, I added them anyway; on a seperate line with Dude of Life ... oh, should add Tom Marshall too then!--Moeron 02:21, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Good idea. And the link for Vida Blue points to the ball player: it needs to be Vida Blue (band) -- i've already put a template there.

Need assistance

Do you know of an admin to step in on User:68.112.25.197's constant reversions to Phish?BabuBhatt 02:43, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Honestly, I really don't know how such a thing is to be handled. Just ask a random admin? —  MusicMaker 02:46, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Check out my response in my talk page, it will direct you where you need to go.--Moeron 02:49, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, that was quick :) Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Phish reversions on May 9 --Moeron 03:17, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Just noticed something new while I was crusing the site. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2004 Phish Tour ... also, I had never know about this either: Phish tours. --Moeron 20:04, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. I think we should hold onto those articles: like I said in one of my responses, it's like having articles on each episode of The Simpsons. While set-lists are a dime a dozen, information about what ACTUALLY HAPPENED at each show is not -- I think those articles could eventually become something like that. Phans love knowing what happened where, those that know the information love to show it off and those looking for the info love to hear it. And, really, with Phish being one of the largest live acts of all time and given their tendency to be, well, weird, I think it should be documented.

Phantom, again

Hi there! I was wondering, since you've been such a major help with the Phantom musical article, if you could please take a look at the main Phantom entry, The Phantom of the Opera. It needs help too--not as much as the musical article, thankfully. I've left a comment about some of the changes on the Talk Page--I also think perhaps a lot of those links should go. I'd greatly appreciate a second pair of eyes and opinion here, so if you have a second to help, I'd be most grateful! Thanks! Namaste, Mademoiselle Sabina 17:49, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Sure, I can give it a look-see. I'm simply not as knowledgable about the book as I am about the musical; I've read it, I have a copy of it somewhere, but I probably haven't read it in ten years or so. I'll head over now to take a look, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to really roll up my sleeves with it: hopefully by the end of the week. —  MusicMaker 18:06, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
That was fast! :) Thank you for looking it over and for the comments. I agree--the adaptations could definitely be moved. I will try to create an article for that tonight. Namaste, Mademoiselle Sabina 19:38, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Haha, I didn't even notice how fast that was. Glad I could help. If you need anything, by all means lmk. —  MusicMaker 19:40, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Maintaining Phish

I have added you to the maintainers of the Phish page (Talk:Phish). Let me know if you want to be removed. Thanks! --MOE.RON talk | done | doing 18:37, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
That IP user can be a real burn sometimes. That is why I was trying to be as civil as I could be when I responded to his list of "sources". My "very nice!" comment was made in hopes that they will at least try to discuss reverts/edits before he does them blindly. I am also coming to the conclusion that User:Onlyslighted and this IP address are one in the same (you can see the IP tried to hide up Onlyslighted's comments).
I just can't understand how this person wants to go back to an uncited, fan-based written article *scratches head*.--MOE.RON talk | done | doing 04:16, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Eh. When someone acts like a moron, I'm gonna point it out. I can't help it: I'm a born smartass. I thought I was relatively civil, though. I could have been a lot meaner.
He's a "contibutor". Not an "editor". He just doesn't get it and probably never will. I'm sure that IP and Onlyslighted are the same person. I'm just awaiting the inevitable vandalism of my userpage -- if he even knows it exists. He might not.
Sorry I was a little short in my response to you; still seething on the moronic attack on my writing. But I really DON'T think it would be a good idea to contact Ellis Godard again. It's not like he's my boy; he was just nice enough to respond personally.
—  MusicMaker 04:29, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I thought maybe flashing Ellis Godard might make him think twice ;) ... Anyway, I know what you mean. Where there are contributors, there must be editors.--MOE.RON talk | done | doing 04:39, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Lol. I wish I had picked up on that. It seemed a little strange to suggest going to Ellis....
He's doing some decent work, he just needs to understand that what he does is going to be edited mercilessly. And I have very little patience for idiocy. I can't believe he responded to his own comment and thought no one would pick up on it.
—  MusicMaker 05:02, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Just an FYI, I created two new Phish-related book entries, The Phishing Manual and Run Like an Antelope, as well as creating the [[Category:Books on Phish|Books on Phish]]. I will let you determine how you might choose to include these in the template or elsewhere.--MOE.RON talk | done | doing 04:38, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm thinking a separate section on the template for books; what do you think? —  MusicMaker 05:11, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Go for it. I think there are one or two more I still am going to add, either tonight or over the next couple of days. Though they are often considered sub-par books in the Phish world, I think they should be added nonetheless.--MOE.RON talk | done | doing 05:24, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Done. I'm worried it's becoming too large. At least on my monitor, it takes up 3/4 of the screen. I don't think its unnecessarily large, it's just much larger than other band templates.
I wonder if The Phishing Manual might have the granddaddy of citations -- the claim that Phish was one of the largest live acts of all time. That's the one that really gnaws at me on the main article.
I got a Border's Books gift certificate for my birthday last week; I should have invested in a couple of Phish books....

Template help

I'm attempting to create a new template for Broadway plays and musicals. I basically stole the film infobox and changed the cell names, but I can't seem to get it to work -- it will put in the name, image, and the authors, but that's it. You can see what I have on my sandbox. Any help would be greatly appreciated. —  MusicMaker 20:09, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Have you checked out the templates at Wikipedia:WikiProject Broadway#Project Templates & Infoboxes? Maybe take those and modify/add to them? --MOE.RON talk | done | doing 20:18, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
I have. That's why I'm doing a new one. Totally unacceptable. This one looks so much nicer, but I think I still have some tweaking to do. Thanks, though! —  MusicMaker 20:40, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
I made small fixes to the sanbox page and it seems to work. Just add values to the template call and they will show. --TuukkaH 20:24, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
I appreciate it. Once I stepped away from the computer, I realized that I was pointing the cells to a page that didn't exist. I wasn't quite sure how to fix that, and I do appreciate the help. To really start implementing this, I assume I create a template page "infobox play" and I'll be able to use it? Thanks again. —  MusicMaker 20:40, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Actually, it seems Template:Infobox Play already exists, but you could pick for example Template:Infobox Play2.--TuukkaH 00:04, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Phish is a GA!

I would just like to pass on some congradulations for helping me and others make the Phish page what it is ... and now it is even considered a good article! Let's keep working towards that ultimate goal of seeing the page as a featured article! Cheers! -- MOE.RON talk | done | doing 18:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

letterman

Let me ask how O'Reilly's view of Letterman being a tough interviewer has anything to do w/ him calling him a "card carrying member of the secular-progressive movement" It appears to be a blatant attempt for users like yourself to cast O'Reilly as a hypocrite by stating two different opinions about Letterman.--Bairdso66 01:43, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Um. He DID state two different opinions about Letterman. He expressed respect for Letterman by saying that he was a tough interviewer whose interviewees had "better bring something to the table." THEN. O'Reilly was in that chair, was unable to bring anything to the table, and then showed Letterman disrespect by throwing around that hilarious epithet. Since the article is about LETTERMAN, it makes sense to juxtapose Mr. O'Reilly's previous comments about the subject with his sentiments after having a rough time on the show. No one's calling O'Reilly a hypocrite. No one needs to. —  MusicMaker 02:18, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Letterman Continued

If you think O'Reilly disrespected Letterman, you naturally didn't watch the interview. Secondly, you get my point about "a card carrying member of the sec-pregress movement" and him being a tough interview are apples and oranges. I can see putting at the begining of the article but it is not a marked change. Thanks--Bairdso66 15:42, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Letterman 3

Rereading your analysis of the Letterman-O'Reilly interview...I have to say it is hilarious how off the mark you are on it's content.--Bairdso66 03:46, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Dude, are you still talking? I've moved beyond the fact that you're a right-wing reactionary and let the subject die. I suggest you do the same. —  MusicMaker 03:51, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
