Forumize Article

I left a whatever you want to call it "talk" or "comment" on that other guys page about my article. I was advised by members of my forum to post something informational about my organization wikipedia since they took interest in our products in development such as the converge bridges.

The article was going to be information about the bridges, and a brief background of the organization. I don't see a conflict of interest because I am the one creating it, I am not advertising anything (unless the required URL counts) just stating information about what we are developing. So who can remove that tag exactly, what if a member comes by and adds something to our page is that a COI? What if someone that has no clue we exist comes by but knows about the forum software we use tack something to the page about something we have done.

So what exactly can I do to my organizations page, I find it sad that a small org. like mine can't even slightly create a article about itself :P

Thank you for your time.

Ryan.Boyle (talk) 18:19, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

I think that the thing you should really be concentrating on in the short term is notability as that is why the article is nominated for deletion - the COI tag is just there should it survive the deletion nomination - which it is unlikely to do in its present state. Establishing notability means that firstly your company must satisfy the requirements for companies and organisations which you can find here and this must be backed up by reliable, verifiable, secondary sources. Hope this helps & good luck with your article. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 18:26, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

-- Thanks for being sarcastic about the "should" very professional in my opinion. I have taken the information provided by the other guy and moved it to one of my user pages where I can work and fine tune it and have people edit it before I make it an article again. So you can delete it immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryan.Boyle (talkcontribs) 18:38, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

No sarcasm intended, merely emphasis. I am so sorry that you misinterpreted my tone (easily done in written English I grant) as I was only trying to help and be realistic about the article's chances of survival. Another of wikipedia's policies which you might browse when you have a moment is called assume good faith as your comment above is bordering on incivil. p.s. I have no power to delete the article but I have tagged it as 'author requests deletion' so that someone who has, can. kind regards, nancy (talk) 18:45, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

--Point taken. I can call this ended, sorry to consume your time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryan.Boyle (talkcontribs) 18:49, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Are these puppets of the same guy? I am new here. Can you find out? Happy138 (talk) 20:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
The editing pattern suggests they are - one stops and another brand new account takes over where they left off. If there is a sockmaster I would think it is Poodwahr (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) as s/he seems to be the one constant presence. Only way to find out for sure would be to request a checkuser but I think that they would have to be lot more disruptive before that was justified - I would characterise their behaviour so far as childish rather than malicious but may be I am being too generous. nancy (talk) 20:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
one of them actually tried to give me sources on my talk page. I didn't check them out (busy writing in the Hebrew Wiki). Wanna have a look? Happy138 (talk) 21:07, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Nancy ... for the past six months, I have been working on some four-step Protocols for deletion warnings like Warn-inc.

You recently put a {{Prod-2}} on Ironman Live (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), so I thought I'd solicit your feedback on my Warn-web protocol, for which I was using Ironman Live as a test ... Since you have strong feelings on Cyra, why not come and tell us exactly why the sources cited are not sufficient to prove WP:N. Look forward to your defending your position. Cheers! wikiwatcher9999 (talk) 01:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)wikieditor9999

  • Nancy, thanks for the notification of the deletion review, I'll go there. But wow, I'm pretty sure that notification was not required, and promotes consensus at the cost of your own position; which precisely exemplifies the barnstar proposal I've been thinking about ("conceding a point"). Thanks very much. Pete St.John (talk) 20:35, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

So, I've invented a barnstar. First time I've uploaded a file (I modified the Original Barnstar artwork). It's supposed to be a visual pun. I think I messed up the colors; I didn't change the background color of the image, but I think it's supposed to be "transparent" to look nice. So your's doesn't look as nice as I'd like. But it's the first, cf my scratchpad.

Editing organic liqueurs

Hey Nancy!

Thanks for your message. I'm sorry if I put misunderstandable information, that wasn't my intention. I wrote my thesis about organic products and I'm just really enthusiastic about everything which has to do with organic products. So I just thought that there must be someone putting some more information about other than just the "BIG COMPANIES" or Globalplayers and alternative products. In my view this is no advertising but just to inform the people about everything what is available on the market! Feel free to answer my message. have a nice day, marcel —Preceding unsigned comment added by Marcelteriete (talkcontribs) 12:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Marcel & welcome to Wikipedia. If you look at the other liqueurs in the list you will see that they do not link back to the companies own external websites - this is where the main problem with your edits lie. Also in the Amaretto article there is a quite a big claim (that it is the first organic amaretto) and this needs to be backed up with reliable sources. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 12:59, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Clarksdale

I have added some names of people of interest originally from Clarksdale, Mississippi, and as best I can tell you have deleted them. The names I recently added were not a joke, and people visiting this site may find them interesting. Please leave my contributions alone. List of Rabbis

Again you are deleting significant personalities. I thought we had an understanding that these proment figures would be left alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Applesaucejobs (talkcontribs) 15:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

As the above comment is only your third ever edit I am somewhat puzzled as to how I could have come to any sort of understanding with you, let alone one about adding non-notable entries to a list. Perhaps you have another account with which I have been in a dialogue? Indeed I am presuming that you are in fact User:Rumusnia and in which case I would refer you once again to this diff which explains why the rabbis have been removed from the list. Why did you delete Locall Australis page?

Hello, Why did you delete the Locall Australis page? It is not as if i was advertising the business (i do NOT work for them), and it has the same rights as Optus to be here, why does Optus get its own page?? Why not smaller ISPs aswell??

Thanks, Xtrasimplicity! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xtrasimplicity (talkcontribs) 09:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi there Xtrasimplicity. I didn't delete the page (I don't have the power to) but I did nominate it for deletion as Locall Australis did not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements for companies. My nomination was reviewed by an administrator who agreed with my rationale and deleted the page. I will leave some links on your talk page which will help you get to grips with how Wikipedia functions and what the requirements are for inclusion - as you can imagine such a big project necessarily has a big set of policies and guidelines but it doesn't take long to absorb the basics. Good luck with your future editing, kind regards, nancy (talk) 09:33, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Adelaide Japanese Animation Society

Why did you mark this for speedy deletion A7(No indication of importance/significance)? AJAS is one of UniSA's oldest clubs and is South Australia's only Anime club. Why did you single us out for deletion, There are other Anime clubs in Wikipedia.

Hi there Timrutter. I didn't delete the page (I don't have the power to) but I did nominate it for deletion as Adelaide Japanese Animation Society did not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements for organisations. My nomination was reviewed by an administrator who agreed with my rationale and deleted the page. You should also be aware that even if your article had passed the notability requirement it would likely have been deleted as a copyright violation as it appeared to be a cut and paste of the webpage http://www.ajas.ath.cx/. With regard to your query about other articles, we have a policy on Wikipedia that says that the argument that other stuff exists is not valid in the context of justifying a particular subject for inclusion.
Please don't Copypasta me answers its not very polite! I did not say 'you' deleted the article but you did mark it for speedy deletion! I was trying to find out from you is why you marked it for speedy deletion I did not even have time to finish the article let alone responed to the speedy deletion request . And as for your copypaste of "other stuff exists" do you even read what you link to? And I quote from that page "This may be an argument that this article is not bad enough to be speedily deleted" Also that copyright notice it is invalid as the site is maintained by me and other members. Please in the future give people time to respond and mark for speedy deletions when they are not needed, As per Speedy deletion - Non-criteria. PS. Anyone can Copypasta. Timrutter (talk) 12:11, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't get the copypasta thing - did you mean it to link to that article? I read it but am still none the wiser! Is it an anime joke that has gone over my head? I think I should clear up the copyvio thing - text can only be copied from other webpages (or indeed any other source) if the source text has been released under the GFDL licensing model that Wikipedia uses. That you maintain the source site is good in that it means that you probably have both the access and the authority to place the appropriate tags on it to release its contents under GFDL, but just the fact that you maintain it does not stop a copy/paste being regarded as a copyvio. There are other ways to release text but as you are the webmaster this is by far the most straightforward. With regard to the deletion - I nominated the article, an admin agreed and deleted it; I am not sure where any further discussion of this point can go other than to say that you might look at recreating the article in your user-space and when it is finished and you are confident that it meets WP:ORG (i.e. that its notability is sourced with references from reliable secondary sources) then you could try moving in to article space again. If you should like me to help or to review the finished piece before you move it then please do drop me a line - you know where I am. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 12:33, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Drive-by: I thought "copypasta" was a clever reference to (putatively) superficial reproduction of formulaic, canned responses (and yeah, he didn't say you deleted, but nom'd for deletion) but the link to the anime site is at best not obvious. Maybe it's anime collage. Maybe a relevant pun. Anyway just wanted to wish you luck, Nancy, re admin. Pete St.John (talk) 19:03, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Nancy ... I stumbled across Royal Ones (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) at the TfD discussion for {{Prod-2}} ... my Protocols for deletion warnings weren't designed for handling neologisms, but this is really just another case of lacking WP:RS for WP:V to satisfy WP:N ... isn't there a WP:CSD category for neologisms, or are WP:PROD and WP:AFD the only options? Happy Editing! —72.75.72.63 (talk · contribs) 01:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

P.S. - Do you think that the Single-purpose account author, Hhk2007 (talk · contribs), is likely to return? —72.75.72.63 (talk) 01:52, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
No there isn't a WP:CSD category to cover neologisms - articles can be speedied as non-notable but only if they are about people, groups or companies. So for an article like Royal Ones, unless of course it was such rubbish that it qualified as nonsense, then the only options available are PROD and then AfD. With regard to the original author I would doubt we will see them again - s/he probably doesn't even recall the username they created let alone the password but you never know. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 09:59, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for helping me out with Angelle. I only set it up this morning as I was supprised that it wasn't on here although I have two CD Singles for Joy and Pain. All I knew that she was 22 in 2002, but I just wanted start the article so I just made it brief.

Onshore —Preceding comment was added at 22:49, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

No problem Onshore, although I couldn't find very much about her. You will have seen that I also added a notability tag as I do think though that her notability is questionable - she definitely fails the guidelines for musicians so all we are left with is the unique circumstances around the failure of her single reported on a local news website. I would strongly recommend that you try to find some better sources as soon as possible otherwise it is likely that someone will ask for the article to be deleted. Good luck with your editing. I have also reworked this page significantly, and would like to resubmit, how would I do this? NorthernAttack (talk) 21:24, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello NorthernAttack and welcome! OK, if you have rewritten the page and it is no longer a copy of the text from the SLR website then all you need to do is create the page again - in just the same way as you did first time around. You need also to watch out that it isn't written like an advert as that is another criteria under which it might be deleted. If the test is still largely a copy of the website text then you will also need to do one of the following in order to avoid it being a copyright violation:
  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details on the article's talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note on the article's talk page with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article's talk page.
I hope this is useful and the best of luck with your editing. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 22:49, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

hello

why did you deleted my page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Galerielw (talkcontribs) 22:56, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello Galerielw, the reason that the page was deleted is that the subject failed wikipedia's notability requirements. It may be that the article was not complete & in which case I would recommend that you work on it in your own user space, eg at User:Galerielw and only create the proper article again once it has enough information in it to show why the subject is notable - if you do this it is likely that it will avoid deletion. Hope this helps to explain, kind regards, nancy (talk) 23:02, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Regarding this diff [3] - yes there is no evidence of a previous AFD, but if you'd checked the logs [4] you'd have seen that the article was previously speedily deleted as spam. I checked the google cache of the page and it was a repost of the speedily deleted version therefore tagging it 'db-repost' was perfectly appropiate as previously speedily deleted articles fufill the criteria. Exxolon (talk) 02:27, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually, no you have got that slightly wrong: a {{db-repost}} only applies if the article has been deleted as a result of a deletion discussion it does not apply to articles previously deleted as a speedy or even as a prod. Easy mistake to make - I remember I was once caught by that one too. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 08:50, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Article: Silver Diamond Entertainment

Dear Administrator Nancy,

I have reviewed your reccomendations for deletion of my recent article. I notice that it has also been deleted. Please point out to me clearly what product I was advertising and what exactly was I trying to promote? The article clearly holds significance because it is a compnay started up by an African American who moved his operations to another country. As a result those actions have made grounds for a positive form of cultural exchange. Please also note the extreme bias in article:Crystal Kay as well as article:zeebra

Clearly for whatever reason the biased writer or editors of those articles was not tagged for whatever reason. However, in article: Crystal Kay, the only external link is to the subjects official website. Please if nothig else, help me to edit the Article: Silver Diamond Entertainment to fit whatever criteria you use to place judgement on my work. Thank you.

Respectfully, user: stanj82 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stanj82 (talkcontribs) 04:16, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Stanj82. I have just looked at the logs for Silver Diamond Entertainment and can see that you created the article twice more since I deleted it and both of those versions have been removed because the company does not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements and this has led someone to protect the page so that no-one can create an article of that name again. I am happy to copy the deleted text in to your user space for you to rerwrite so that it demonstrates the notability of the company, is not overtly promotional and has reliable sources. When you have done this I would be happy to review your work and consider whether it is appropriate to recreate the page. Good luck with your editing, kind regards, nancy (talk) 09:02, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Please take a look

Dear Nancy!

Please take a look at some article (especially copyright of its pictures) created by a fanatic fan of Miss Earth pageant, Lianga13

Thank you so much!

Angelo De La Paz (talk) 14:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Angelo, I have removed the images from the articles as they were outside the scope of the acceptable uses for non-free images. The pictures themselves will be deleted in 7 days unless proper licensing information is added to them. Someone has already nominated Hana Svobodova for deletion you might want to consider doing the same for Barbara Vanden Bussche. Good luck with your editing and hope to see you around. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 15:04, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Nancy!

Lianga13 was still reverted violated pics. Here is the list:

I think you should block this user for a month at least because I am doubting that he/she has using multiple usernames and here is the list:

Please check it for me! Are all those 4 usernames come from only one common IP address???

Thank for your helps and I appreciate your contributions!

Angelo De La Paz (talk) 03:58, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Angelo. fortunately, I don't have the same IP address with the other three you mentioned above. My edits are in lined with the Wikipedia policies. If ever I have committed mistakes just like any other editors, I would accept it. FYI, unlke the other three, which you have been watching, I have never uploaded any pictures, not a single one. You can look in my history page and compare my edits to the other three to verify the matter. Don't worry, I won't take this personally against you for implicating me. I even asked you in your discussion page to help improve in a professional manner the Miss Earth article, please check. I hope to hear from you. Thanks and happy editing. --Richie Campbell (talk) 04:37, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Angelo, I appreciate your efforts to improve Wikipedia however you should be very careful before making allegations of sockpuppetry, just because certain editors edit similar articles and/or have similar view doesn't mean they are the same person. How about you take up Ritchie's offer and help make Miss Earth a really good article? Your concerns about image licensing however are completely legitimate and I have removed the ones which violate the image licensing from the articles (the Jessica Trisko one, as far as I can see if OK to use). Oh yes, I am variously a wiki-nazi, a moron and a bastard and a RETARD (note special shouty writing) but the greatest accolade is beyond doubt being acknowledged as a stupid slut of a whore. I love this place. nancy (talk) 12:37, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
p.s. Thanks for the inappropriate image H2O. nancy (talk) 12:37, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

You still have not answered why the image was inappropriate... Can you please tell me why.. Hey its not me that spawned that ghoulish fat fuck.. I think the world should know that a someone running for president can not even spawn correctly.. now tell me is that wrong? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.205.141.118 (talkcontribs)

Dear 76.205.141.118, please accept my sincerest apologies for not replying. The reason for this ommission is that I had presumed your question to be rhetorical - a view that I still hold. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 21:42, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

You declined speedy on the above - I agree that it asserts notability. It also, however, asserts that one member of the handballing team passed away on the court in 1997 and has been part of the walking dead ever since...! GBT/C 10:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I noticed that but (unfortunately) hoaxes don't qualify for speedy - although I often wish they did! Hey ho. nancy (talk) 15:52, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Removal of speedy tag for Uathesis

I was considering Uathesis to fall under WP:CSD#A7 as "web content". You disagree? In any case it's not really a computer program, it's just a collection of text formatting macros. —David Eppstein (talk) 20:05, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi David. I really struggled to find the right words to describe what Uathesis was for the edit summary and even at the time I knew that computer program wasn't quite right, however I do believe that whatever it is it is not covered by an A7 - wouldn't you say that web content refers to www pages/sites or am I placing too strict an interpretation on the policy? If there is any ambiguity I do try and err on the side of caution (for caution read inclusion) but in this case, if the AFD hadn't already been in progress I would have slapped a PROD on it. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 21:33, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Issen gorin speedy removal

you removed the speedy tag, but the entire text is a copy/paste from the blog. I'm confused. Can you clarify? Travellingcari (talk) 21:28, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I actually deleted it but then had second thoughts and restored it as looking at the dates I think that the blog could well have been a copy of the Wikipedia page rather than vice versa.[6]. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 21:30, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
WHoops on my end then. I just saw the odd summary note and couldn't quite follow it. I'm still trying to track down the text origin for the rest of iBreakfast. It's still a copyvio, I just need to find the source. I'll tag it when I do -- just so you know I'm not going against your decline. If I can't find it I may just do a total re-write to remove the copyvio Travellingcari (talk) 21:35, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

ETA: Never mind re iBreakfast, someone else speedied it under A7 in the interim. Solved that problem :) Travellingcari (talk) 22:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm sure iBreakfast will be back...... things like that have a habit or returning, but as you say, problem solved for now. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 10:59, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion!

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am trying to create a page but it keeps being deleted. I have followed every rule and regualtion but yet it keeps being deleted.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Thomas —Preceding unsigned comment added by Toxlington (talkcontribs) 21:56, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Looking at your deleted contributions your only edit to the page was creating it with no content - it is the absence of content which was the reason for its deletion. (it was only created/deleted once by the way or have you been creating it under another name and using a different account?). I have posted a welcome message on you talk page which will give you some handy links to get you started, . Good luck with your editing. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 11:17, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Ok

Sorry about that, but they seemed utterly uninformational. These articles are at best, 2 sentences long, and I doubt anyone is going to wiki them, in hopes of finding information about these remote little towns. I didn't mean to tag that one wrongly, just didn't look before I saved. ElisaEXPLOSiONtalk. 16:35, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

If you'll look at the contributions from this individual, it appears as though he is going to add every village in that region known to man. ElisaEXPLOSiONtalk. 16:41, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi. :) I was about to leave a message for this user explaining the proper use of hangons when the user's talk page was deleted. Judging by your deletion rationale, you, like me, presumed it was an article talk page. However, in spite of the name, it's actually a user talk page. I suspect you wouldn't mind if I restored it, given the mix-up, but it's always polite to ask. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:17, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Oooops, yes I treated it as an article talk page. I have restored it already. Thanks for the steer. nancy (talk) 19:19, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
No problem. It happens, especially when we've got username issues. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:25, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Packs for Porters

hey you kinda deleted our wikipedia page. that made me really truly sad inside, as we are a group of students working really hard to get the word out of our movement, and wikipedia can help us with that.

is there something we were missing from our page?

whats up with this?

-kyle —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maddkid53 (talkcontribs) 18:48, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry you are sad but the reason that your article was deleted is because WIkipedia is an encyclopaedia and is therefore not the place to try and advertise your venture. You already have a website but how about setting up a myspace account or something similar? In the future, when your venture is successful and you can demonstrate that it is notable then it will be the time for it to have an article on WIkipedia, but not right now. The very best of luck with Packs for Porters, kind regards, nancy (talk) 18:56, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Where in the article is notability asserted? Ridernyc (talk) 08:14, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion is for obvious and uncontroversial deletions and notability only has to be asserted (not proved & not even necessarily enough to pass WP:MUSIC) for a speedy deletion not to be appropriate. Any one of the quotes below are enough to pass as an assertion of notability:-
"C.I.T. immediately garnered much attention"
"great reviews from magazines and webzines such as Metal Maniacs, Vampire Magazine and Braindead Webzine"
"interest from record labels around the world"
"the album began to carve its path through the extreme music scene and quickly received much interest from the underground"
I do think that there is a doubt that this article passes WP:MUSIC but, as suggested in my edit summary the way to deal with this is at WP:AFD. Hope this helps, kind regards, nancy (talk) 08:23, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't see any of it passing WP:Music, there's already a COI report about this user and I'm sure it will all get sorted out there. He's named after the record company the band is on and is making articles and inserting non-sourced spam into other articles. Ridernyc (talk) 08:30, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
No harm in taking it to WP:AFD whilst the WP:COI is being looked at - you'd get my !vote to delete. nancy (talk) 08:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Kind of in the middle of other stuff right and just don't feel like writing up an AFD. Been trying to focus on actually working on articles again. That's why I noticed him, I have pretty much every music genre on my watchlist because I'm trying to clean them up. I filled the COI notice because I knew he was going to move on to making articles for the bands. Ridernyc (talk) 08:42, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Yup, I know that one - so much to do so little time. If I get a moment I might nominate it later today. nancy (talk) 08:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Wow now suddenly an IP has taken interest in the article and is removing all the tags [7]. Ridernyc (talk) 08:57, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I've taken it to AFD - see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Noisecore Freak nancy (talk) 10:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Why have you deleted my article on the Garden Store? —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Garden Store (talkcontribs) 10:31, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a directory so in order to be included a company needs to show why it is notable - the article was deleted because it failed Wikipedia's requirements for the notability of companies and corporations. Also, whilst it it is not (necessarily) a criteria for deletion, your user name would suggest that you have some personal association with The Garden Store and so it may be difficult for you to be neutral about the subject; a good rule of thumb is that if something you are personally associated with is notable enough for inclusion then someone else will likely start the article. I will leave some links on your talk page to help you find your way around all the policies and procedures. Hope this helps to explain and good luck with your editing. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 10:42, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Chasing Ghosts Deleted

Hello. The band you deleted, has many of the requirements listed by wikipedia. The referencing are included on the page. There is no reason why you should have deleted it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tangalang1 (talkcontribs) 11:06, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

It may have been referenced but unfortunately nowhere in the article was any assertion of notability and that it why it was deleted. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 11:38, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Nancy;

I see that you blocked User:Steht for 31 hours; Steht is an obvious reincarnation of Tile join, the so-called "Genesis vandal" who replaces Evolution, Talk:Evolution, and reverting users' pages with chapters of Genesis, and I would suggest an indefinite block instead. J. Spencer (talk) 15:54, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I will take a look at the evidence and review the length of the block. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:03, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your time, and have a good day! J. Spencer (talk) 16:42, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Tristan Christian

Why did you delete my web page I was making about an architect who is soon to be recognized for his projects —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trec618 (talkcontribs) 17:04, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

I think soon is the crucial word. In order to be included in Wikipedia a person needs already to be recognised - we call it notability - as soon as Tristan is notabale and you can verify this with reliable sources then you can create an article on him and it likely won't be deleted. I will leave some useful links on your talk page so that you can get the hang of how this place works and what criteria an article needs to meet in order to be included. Good luck with your future editing. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 17:09, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

CAT:CSD work

Could I please request your attention to a discussion here about the appropriateness of some speedy deletions you have recently made. Note that the discussion is not intended to be critcal of your actions in any way. I myself made some of the same deletions before I started to second guess myself over them. - TexasAndroid (talk) 20:34, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I've been off-line for an hour or so and have now missed the discussion & it looks like the problem is resolved now. I had deleted only one and then had a moment of doubt so didn't touch the rest; having read the thread I'm glad I made that call as it looks like someone had a whole heap of work putting them back. nancy (talk) 21:25, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Eurocrem

Greetings,

I would really like to know why did you delete my article about Eurocrem? That article really was not meant to be a form of advertisement, and if you look at it in that way, all snack food-related articles could be treated as ads? Where else (which category / inside another article / whatever) could I put an article about such a product? Dsimic (talk) 19:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi there Dsimic. You cannot seriously expect to use subjective phrases such as "been keeping many generations in a good mood for about 35 years" and "a really delicious taste and smell that is hardly matched by any other products of that kind" and not expect the article to be considered a puff piece rather than a serious encylopaedic contribution! I shall leave you some links on your talk page so that you can check out how this place works and how to write an article which will conform to our guidelines. Good luck in the future, kind regards, nancy (talk) 19:17, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you a lot for your reply, I will try to get the article text up to required standards. Could it be possible for me to place the article just as a really "barebone" stub, so we can see if somebody else would provide more information in near future? As I wrote, that is a really, really popular product over here, and it was a real surprise for me that there was no Wikipedia coverage. Dsimic (talk) 19:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
For it to stand any chance of surviving as a stub you will need to make sure that:
  1. It does not contain any subjective phrases that will make it seem like an advert
  2. You include at least one (preferably more) reliable sources to show that the product is notable - I fear you may struggle with this one, I just had a quick look and could not find any (admittedly I was only looking in English)
I would also recommend that you create the stub in your user space and only post it properly once it is completely finished, formatted, referenced etc - again this will lessen the chances of it being deleted.
Good luck & kind regards, nancy (talk) 08:39, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you a lot again for your reply, I will try to meet all the requirements. I searched a few minutes ago and found a really nice text in Serbian, that could serve for me to get more specific details about Eurocrem, and both as a reference. Also, even Amazon.com sells Eurocrem, hope that's a nice and reliable source, am I right? ;) Kind regards, Dsimic (talk) 17:54, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Submitted a new version of article, hope it is acceptable now. Dsimic (talk) 19:43, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for blocking Tony D'Alfonso

No problem - glad I could help. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 10:42, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Need a 3rd set of uninvolved eyes and you seem like a reasonable party

You seemed very reasonable when we talked the other night so I figured I'd come to you. User talk:Sbkbg is a DJ on college radio station WFAL. First he created an article about his radio show Falcon's rock block the article is in AFD well on it's way to deletion. I tagged the WFAL he keeps removing the tags he was warned about removing the tags by another editor. He is now removing the tags again claiming that one article in the Boweling Green university press is enough to establish notability and remove the tags. I have explained the issues numerous times to him and he is still causing a stink about it. 03:57, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Looking at his contributions I can see what you mean however it does look as though in the final hour he was editing last night things have calmed down and the more pointy activities have stopped - he has left the tags in place and has instead concentrated on adding sources and trying to address the referencing concerns. I considered leaving a note on his talk page but thought better of it as I don't want to stir it up again. Bottom line is that that WFAL and Falcon's rock block are at WP:AFD and my advice would be to ignore him and let the AfDs run their course as I think it is very likely that the consensus will be to delete on the grounds of failing WP:NOTE. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 09:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree the only reason I attempted to get you involved was when he started leaving messages on other peoples talk page. I was hoping to get someones attention before he started escalating the problem. Hoping that if maybe someone else said the same thing to him he would calm down. So far 5 ediotrs have talked to him and he still keeps going on and on. At this point I think the best outcome will come once the articles are deleted and he moves on. I've tried explaining things to him and I don't think he will ever understand policy. Ridernyc (talk) 09:49, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

delete

hi nancy,

you deleted my article, and i know it looks like i was using it as a sandbox, but i was creating a serious article, and i got the code wrong

hope you reply starwars_culemborg —Preceding unsigned comment added by Starwars culemborg (talkcontribs) 12:12, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. Sorry it was deleted but there had only been one edit and no work had been done on it for 45 minutes so it looked like a test page. There is no reason why you should not make a new article on Lek en Linge College but my advice would be to first make it in your own user-space and then, when you have got all the code right, copy it in to a proper article. That way there can be no confusion about whether it is meant as a proper contribution or not. Remember that you will need to show why the college is notable etc. I will leave some links on your talk page to help you find your way around. Good luck & kind regards, nancy (talk) 12:19, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Prindi

The article Prindi I feel was deletd unfairely as it is an article written on the life of the amateur rapper Prindi. Could you please aid me in republishing this article —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vikasafc55 (talkcontribs) 16:42, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Vikasafc55 - Prindi was deleted several times today because it was utter nonsense and you reposted it so many times that I have also had to protect the article against recreation for a short time. Unless you can show me some evidence that Prindi exists and is notable enough for inclusion then I am afraid that I will be unable to help you further. nancy (talk) 17:22, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi. You declined a speedy on Giordano Berti with the reasoning that Tarotpedia seems to be under the GFDL. I looked up the site and was unable to find any information indicating that the text has been so released. From the main page of Tarotpedia there is a copyright notice at the bottom "Tarotpedia and Tarotpaedia © 2006 - 2008 Association for Tarot Studies", so it appears that the text here on Wikipedia may be in violation of copyright. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 20:14, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I based the decision on the information on this Tarotpedia page - it is not written particulary clearly so I could well have misinterpreted; what do you think? Kind regards, nancy (talk) 10:55, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Also, I think that the copyright notice refers to the names Tarotpedia and Tarotpaedia rather than the content, but again, I could be wrong. nancy (talk) 10:59, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes, that does look like the material is GFDL. Sorry for causing any confusion. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 12:21, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
No problem. nancy (talk) 12:54, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Dear Nancy, thank's for taking care of my entry on Caterina Klusemann. She has received several awards important in Europe, such as the Bayerischer Dokumentarfilmpreis, the European Coordination of Film Festivals - Jameson Short Film Award at the Filmfestival in Dresden, or the New Line Outstanding Filmmaking Award. Her films screen regularly on the pan-European channel arte, and are frequently screened on public TVs worldwide, such as TV5, SVT, Eurochannel, Planete, Ikon. For all, I can give references. Would these things would make the entry on her worthwhile? I must confess that I'm new to wiki and still need advice in those things. Thanks for your time. I'll check on your user_talk and my German user_talk for an answer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ypsylon (talkcontribs)

Yes, absolutely, any information you have on her achievements which can be backed up with reliable sources should be added to the article - this will help to prove Caterina's notability and reduce the likelyhood that the article will be deleted. Best of luck with your editing, kind regards, nancy (talk) 15:18, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Dear Nancy, thank you for the advice, which I implemented now. Thanks also for your time. Ypsylon (talk) 20:20, 25 February 2008 (UTC) (talk)
