Welcome! & some help in editing web 2.0

[edit]

Hi NancyJeanGF & welcome to wikipedia! Good on you for diving in.

I'm not in any groups; I edit over a wide range of pages. Looking at editors of web 2.0 I find User talk: OMPIRE who may be better connected than me.

Category:Web 2.0 may be a place to start for ready made articles to improve.

There are plenty of tools that can be enabled in Preferences: Gadgets eg Wikipedia:WikEd is the one I find most useful. To enter the backstory of wp you can search in help on the left-that side's pretty geeky but I just use WikEd and learn that way.

I wish you success in all you do and pls write when you need help.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Kissmetrics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your draft article, Draft:MixPanel

[edit]

Hello NancyJeanGF. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "MixPanel".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:MixPanel}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 22:32, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2015

[edit]

Hi there, I just noticed your edit to the WikiCup signup page. I had to revert it as it was a repeat of the default text, but I wanted to check to see if you had intended to signup. If you did, then please add your details at the signup page, otherwise ignore this message! :) Miyagawa (talk) 23:41, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I did try to sign up, but, apparently, I did not follow the instructions well. Please revert - I will try again later. NancyJeanGF (talk) 00:22, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No worries! :) Miyagawa (talk) 18:51, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (Localytics) has been reviewed!

[edit]

Thanks for creating Localytics, NancyJeanGF!

Wikipedia editor Lynctekrua just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Good article worthy of Wikipedia. Second paragraph reads like an ad though.

To reply, leave a comment on Lynctekrua's talk page.

Hi yes, I would suggest simply removing that whole paragraph. I'm just going to pretend you didn't just say you copy and pasted the whole article. But please be aware that one of Wikipedia's bots may detect that its copied from a website and mark it for deletion. ~Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lynctekrua (talkcontribs) 01:21, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No sorry I miss-interpreted. Yes paraphrasing is the best thing you could do. I thought you said the whole article was plagiarized. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lynctekrua (talkcontribs) 01:49, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clarification! I edited the article (the indicated paragraph) by paraphrasing it and removing most of it. Hopefully others with more technical knowledge will expand it. I also removed the tag you placed in it (was I supposed to do it after the edit or you are supposed to do it after you check my edits? sorry, I am new to it). Speedy deletion nomination of Localytics

[edit]

Hello NancyJeanGF,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Localytics for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on [[User_talk:|my talk page]] if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 12:15, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@TheLongTone and RHaworth: Hello, TheLongTonegreat & RHaworth! I was trying to make this list more complete: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_web_analytics_software. It was the result of my research of the most popular analytics software today. Localytics was one of them. I also reviewed KISSmetrics and Mixpanel... I did spend time researching all the solutions out there and those always came on top. While I am no expert, I based my inclusion on all the references I kinked in the article. Please advise - I am relatively new to Wikipedia. NancyJeanGF (talk) 13:19, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@RHaworth: I am new to Wikipedia and still learning. Thankfully, this community has been very helpful and nobody called me "arrogant" so far. Thank you for your explanation, though, with all respect, the tone was a bit discouraging. NancyJeanGF (talk) 13:41, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Proposed deletion of 5pm

[edit]

The article 5pm has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indications of notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Referencing suggestions

[edit]

It would help your articles stay in WP if you improved you manner of referencing. The references need to be shown in a style that makes it evident where they come from without having to actually go to the link. If you use cite web, you should fill in the work field (also called the website field) or the publisher field , which will then display the name of the site or source. I just did this for the first reference in [[:Mixpanel[]]. You can see the added clarity.

You are also using the further reading field in a non-standard fashion: see WP:FURTHER it normally contains only books. Referring again to that article, every one of the ones there would be better used as a reference. DGG ( talk ) 00:35, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@DGG: Thank you, I will update the article. I am still learning. I hoped others will expand/correct it.

General advice

[edit]

I want to help your work stay in WP if the subjects are notable. But from the nature of the articles you are writing , and their rather similar manner, it seems possible that you may be doing paid editing. If by any chance you are, it would be highly advantageous for you to openly declare it according to our Terms of Use, particularly with respect to paid contributions without disclosure. It is not likely to hurt you in afd discussions, because a suspicion of this tends to raise more doubts than a frank admission. If you have some sort of Conflict of Interest, but not actually a monetary connection, it would again help to declare it, because it will decrease any unwarranted doubts. And if it just a general field of interest, you may similarly want to say something, for a similar reason

Under our current rules, we cannot investigate this further unless there should be some very clear reason, nor are you subject to any kind of sanctions for not saying anything. But if it should later turn out that it was undeclared paid editing, then sanctions will apply, up to the level of blocking and removal of the articles. This is in no way a threat of any action on my part; though I'm an admin., I never block in a case like this to avoid any appearance of exerting undue influence . DGG ( talk ) 00:47, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@DGG: I am not paid for articles on WP. I did not write many, so far. I tried to contribute by editing other articles, in small ways. I try to expand the list of software covered in Wikipedia. I work with non-profits and Wikipedia lists help search and recommend software for our projects. I mainly cover software I used myself. Sometimes, those are competitors. I am just trying to make the lists on Wikipedia and the articles more inclusive. Any help would be appreciated - I am not very technical.

Nomination of Kissmetrics for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Kissmetrics is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kissmetrics (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DGG ( talk ) 05:09, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
