Edit summary[edit]

By coincidental timing, I noticed this edit's summary right above a couple of refdels you made for Joseph McCarthy, so figured I might as well ask you to take a look. I'm not particularly offended by the language, but some probably would be. Fat&Happy (talk) 19:40, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ReverbShop wiki[edit]

I just caught that you speed deleted this article due to a lack of notable content? Considering that there were 6 articles listed 1 from the company website, 2 from local sources, and the other three were from print media, one including a business week article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JustinADeWitt (talkcontribs) 14:46, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sequoia edits[edit]

Hello! I saw that today at 10:36 3/1/2011 you made some edits to the Sequoia sempervirens and the Talk:Sequoia sempervirens pages (RD3, disruptive material). I'm sure you had good reason, but it just seemed odd that right when we got into a discussion/dispute about very fine details in those archives, that within hours we get hidden edits to them, whose record we can not witness. May I ask what you removed and who it was by? Many thanks! Tom Hulse (talk) 21:25, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just a coincidence - this is part of a cleanup of old pagemove/edit summary vandalism. Nothing to do with the current dispute. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:28, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit filter[edit]

Hey NawlinWiki,

Mr.Z-bot (talk · contribs) made this report recently at AIV. The editor's only contribution, here, doesn't appear remotely like vandalism but it triggered Special:AbuseFilter/389 -- I'm not sure how this trips an "Attacks on user talk pages" filter. I'm completely ignorant as to how these things work, but you were apparently the last to edit the filter...thank you can figure it out? Thanks, — Scientizzle 19:08, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, looking at the log for the filter, it's hitting a whole lot of non-vandalism. Something seems to be wrong. — Scientizzle 19:09, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I adjusted the filter - should reduce or eliminate the FPs. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 19:50, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

unblock of 132.74.1.4?[edit]

Hi Nawlin, Would you object against the unblock of 132.74.1.4 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)? An unblock request came in on unblock-l for this IP. The request indicated it is a shared university IP. Looking at the contributions, I don't see much activity, some run of the mill vandalism, some well meant but not-so-usefull edits, and some good edits. I don't like unblocking without consulting first, so let me know. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 18:32, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • This IP has been used in the past by longtime vandal User:Runtshit, and we think it's one of his home IPs. He's still active, so I'm not comfortable unblocking this IP. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 18:54, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion[edit]

Hey, I just had my article deleted... (SCREAM FOR HELP: Punk & Hardcore Bands 4 Gulf Coast Animals). I am new to editing/creating on wikipedia, however, the reasons for deletion seem offbase to me. Anything presented in the article was for the purpose of information, not advertisement/promotion. I am not affiliated with any of the parties involved in the release, and my reason for creating the article was for informational purposes only. I'm really not sure what the issue was. Daegor (talk) 23:06, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article seems like it's taken verbatim from the catalog notes or from the sleeve of the EP itself. Even though it's for a good cause, it still seems like it's trying to get people to buy the EP. NawlinWiki (talk) 05:20, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Much of it was, however I deleted anything that actually directed you towards any of the charitable organizations. I didn't want to remove mention of them entirely as I felt that it was educational as to the organizations behind the release, rather than advertising for them. PassionSearch.com[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki: I'm writing about the recently deleted PassionSearch.com page. How could I improve what had been written to merit inclusion on Wikipedia? The company itself is a notable entity, and is comparable to (if not larger than) other companies that have Wikipedia pages such as Plenty of Fish, FriendFinder, Match.com etc. The Approaching Curve (talk) 18:26, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • You would have to show the company's notability per WP:CORP, as established by reliable independent sources per WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:27, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't Understand Why you Tagged this Entry for Deletion[edit]

I am not sure why this page (Kim Jew) is being considered for deletion; the entry does not have any issues that would make it a candidate for deletion. The sources cited are not PR pieces, but legitimate news stories crafted by journalists, not Kim Jew himself. The breadth of sources shows that there is significant coverage of Kim Jew as a photographer; the sources are reliable news sources; the sources are written from a third party perspective; and the sources are independent of the subject. Based on this criteria, I believe that the Wikipedia entry about Kim Jew should be presumed suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Additionally, Kim Jew's notability spans decades, demonstrating that the independent coverage cited is not short-term interest.

I understand that Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion....and this entry does not read as such. It is not advocating people to take an action, it is not an opinion piece....it is written from a neutral point fo view, using an objective style to state facts about Kim Jew's life and notable contributions to the field of photography.

Please advise on why you are considering this entry for deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fredniferitz (talkcontribs) 18:52, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ark Music Factory Deletion[edit]

I am just an average person. I heard all this kerfuffle online about Ark Music Factory. So I googled them. I wanted to know who was behind it. And whether it was a US or UK operation. All the links were rubbish except the link to wikipedia in google. By the google blurb I could see that it had information about who was behind the company and where it was based. So I clicked the link and came to a deleted page entry. I see you deleted the page. I cannot find the information anywhere else online. Google did not cache the deleted page. It was at this point I realised that wikipedia has gone to shit. And it's because of people like you, the deletionists, that it is going to shit. No doubt the big 'deleted' page will help create a chilling effect for anyone wishing to write another article on this company. Why would anyone try and start another article when people like you are just going to delete it? So I'm here to say, good one! Good on you for making me realise how crap wikipedia has become. Good on you for deleting articles that *you* think are poor rather than improving them, or marking them as needing improvement. You are a complete ass hat. Good day to you. May you continue to ruin wikipedia for everyone. Retrogradeorbit (talk) 04:46, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Friday" has recieved close to 8,000,000 views on Youtube, creating a sizable need for an objective source of information regarding how the song was created. Comprehensive coverage by the vast majority of media organizations is further proof of its necessity. Also, Retrogradeorbit makes a great point that should be echoed as I stumbled upon this deletion page in the same way. I wonder how many millions of people came to find out about Ark Music Factory before being turned away because of one subjective opinion of "importance. 174.29.34.55 (talk) 05:58, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Janus Thinking - entry removal[edit]

Hi,

I noticed that you removed an entry for Janus Thinking, a blog about luxury and luxury marketing. You cite that it is because it was "unambiguous advertising or promotion". Is it because of the words "leading luxury blog" only? If so, these words can be removed. Other than that, I hope that you saw that the entry was for information purposes only and that the website/blog itself is not commercial in its nature anyway.

I see that other blogs (e.g. Huffington Post) have an entry for them so I am just curious where the distinction is drawn between what it acceptable and not for an entry. While the Janus Thinking site has a more specific theme, it is already recognised by many external groups as an important site and its author is asked to speak (in an academic, non-commercial context) all over the world.

Any feedback would be appreciated...

87.113.246.63 (talk) 18:35, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response. I have removed the citing of the website and left the entry referring only to the theoretical concept itself - of Janus Thinking. I hope this meets the standards. The concept has no commercial nature, this entry is only for informative purposes as relating to the academic work on this subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Annafdubuis (talkcontribs) 12:27, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    • You would still have to show that this concept is recognized as notable in reliable independent sources, see WP:V. Wikipedia is not meant to be a publisher of original thought, see WP:NOR. NawlinWiki (talk) 14:17, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. It has been widely published and used by other academics. Is it possible for you to replace the original text in order that I may edit it please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Annafdubuis (talkcontribs) 15:55, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cort and Fatboy deletion[edit]

I've had this account for a while but, despite this, I'm relatively new to the world of Wikipedia. You recently deleted the article for "Cort and Fatboy" a popular radio show in Portland, Oregon. The page was deleted in February but I created a new page under the show's revised title. I bulked it up with citations from both the Associated Press and several, large-circulation publications from Oregon including The Oregonian and Willamette Week. I spent a goodly amount of time on this project as well.

Based on the show's clips, I feel that it's more than worthy of inclusion on Wikipedia, especially in light of the ever-growing number of articles on the site and the increasing minutia and localized focus of their content. I would be happy to revise the Cort and Fatboy page in whatever manner you see fit but I humbly request that you take another look at this case and the circumstances. Orange Mike, another admin, deleted the new page and requested that I consult you for further input. I would like to get the page reinstated, if at all possible. If you're still unconvinced of its worthiness, I'd be happy to send along a multitude of links to other locally-focused articles with even skimpier references that have managed to stick on Wikipedia without incident.

Freedom Spartans Athletic[edit]

Hi,

I have just seen the article I have written today has been deleted. On the talk page for the article I wrote asking for some basic feedback as to why it wasnt deemed suitable but instead the article was just removed. can u let me know why it was taken off as speed delete as other teams on our league have similar pages which are still in force and have been for some time. I also mentioned that if it was to do with the lack of referencing then this was only because i struggled to work out how to reference, even having gone through the wiki tutorial for it.

if u can let me know anyway would be most grateful as it took all day and would be really gutting if its just because im too basic to understand how to reference effectively!!Kingofthespartans (talk) 19:19, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for a swift response. I disagree and feel that this article does have a wider interest than the club notability spec that we don't currently enter a national cup. As things stand the club are the top goalscorers in the league and we could potentially be the first club to win this division in a maiden season. We are the only team from Aldershot permitted to play in the Guildford and Woking Alliance League. I also think that because of our status as a new club, this makes such an article of further public interest to see how a club develops from its absolute inception, which the article offers.Kingofthespartans (talk) 19:42, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent block[edit]

I was displeased at your way of handling the Pirroformayor2012 account. Are you aware of the WP:BITE clause. you should have just brought the matter up and suggested he rename his account. If he disregards your comment, then you block him. And before you start jumping to conclusions, I know you blocked him because I created his talk page and he is not a sock puppet of mines. Cheers. Jessy T/C 01:08, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The block was not just because of the username. He also posted a long campaign ad as an article. I typically will block accounts with advertising-type names only if they actually post an ad, which this user did. NawlinWiki (talk) 01:10, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my mistake I missed that perfectly reasonable block. Jessy T/C 01:12, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet harassment[edit]

It seems many accounts that appear to be sockpuppets of no one sockmaster constantly harass you on your talk page. There were at least 9 of them. In addition, many attack pages were directed at you. A possibility may be indefinite semi-protection for your actual talk page, while creating a subpage of the talk page to act as the real talk page that anyone can edit.Jasper Deng (talk) 04:39, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Could we remove this for denying recognition? It's a banned user. Do we need this list? --Bsadowski1 04:42, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted. Replaced with count of them.Jasper Deng (talk) 05:39, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The only benefit of that would be that I wouldn't see as many annoying yellow boxes. The vandalism would still continue and still have to be dealt with by other admins. In my opinion, it's not worth the bother. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:16, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Original Content[edit]

Reference: (2:18, 28 March 2011 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) deleted "Online Deals Industry" ‎ (A10: Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic: Online shopping) Online Deals industry is different from that of Online shopping on the following grounds:

  1. 1 Online shopping is about websites that offers one to shop online, where as in Online Deals Industry, a website may or may not allow the user to shop online and the primary focus here is the deal information or the deal itself.
  2. 1 Online Deals Industry is a much recent phenomena; though there were random occurrences here and there, but since the past couple of years, this has become an industry of its own.
  3. 3 The information required to understand the two is varied, though there might be certain overlap in a few areas.

However, since you have observed certain duplications, kindly let me know the areas of duplication so that the article can be altered accordingly and am able to justify the topic. Please support.--Francis Gonsalves (talk) 11:09, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No explanation of the subject's significance[edit]

Hi Nawlin, I’m new in Wikipedia, and I don´t understand why my article was deleted.(“Furia World”). It is about one of the biggest and most important advertising agencies in Latin America, and very important worldwide. It is an agency that sets global trend. I think the article is a small contribution to the advertising students. Perhaps I should talk more about their famous campaigns. How I can fix it to avoid being eliminated? Deletion of Sean Donnelly (rapper)[edit]

Hi, I see you have deleted the Sean Donnelly/Andrew Lansley Rap page.

It seems a little precipitous to me. Sean Donnelly and/or the rap have been featured by both the BBC and the Guardian in the space of a couple of days, and it's pretty obvious that there is going to be quite a bit more where that came from.

Another editor had intended to rename the page, so that it highlighted the track itself rather than its author; in hindsight this might have been the better approach from the outset.

It may well be that within a few weeks this particular phenomenon may have sunk below the waterline of notability, but that seems rather unlikely now.

At any rate, deleting the article after just a few hours seems to be rather hasty.DanieleProcida (talk) 08:45, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Aghada[edit]

I have provided reliable sources in the discussion page xxxxxx — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sword Of Aghada (talkcontribs) 11:51, 30 March 2011 (UTC) Thats simply untrue you have no proof what so ever. But it says something about your life if you have seen this hundreds of times. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sword Of Aghada (talkcontribs) 11:59, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Justianopolis redirect[edit]

I created a redirect from Justianopolis to the Chebba article, as it appears from a reliable source that when the town was created it was called Justianopolis. See Chebba#History. You deleted it saying "Article that has no meaningful, substantive content". But is was a redirect, they have no content. Did I make a mistake in formatting the redirect? --Bejnar (talk) 21:35, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oops - it wasn't a redirect - it was just the word "Chebba". Just try it again. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 21:57, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My error. I also misspelled Justinianopolis. Thanks. --Bejnar (talk) 22:00, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Kid Ink[edit]

I created the article for Kid Ink. I looked over the criteria for a musician's article to be significant, and Kid Ink fit rule 14. His song Lowkey Poppin was played on a national radio station. Plus he has worked with grammy award winning artists Chris Brown & Diddy. Please reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhunt999 (talkcontribs) 12:32, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Furia World[edit]

Hi Nawlin,Sorry to bother you again, but I ´am trying to learn s and the process is hard. You told me that the sources were ads created by Furia, but they are interviews published by prestigious journals. Do I have to cite articles that aren´t interviews? Thank you for the time I aprecite it. Agustinlampe (talk) 17:00, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
