Ouch the speedy delete hurt my head

How does one post an article about a published book without getting deleted based on "promotion"? I modeled my article after a wiki page for the book called "Everyone Poops".

Curious

Just curious, why rollback my comment? I was only leaving formal notice of someone else's trolling, not trying to harass you or anything. Nyttend (talk) 20:49, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No. I've never been in a Grawp situation and never really paid much attention to him. Nyttend (talk) 20:50, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if it's obviously a troll, perhaps you can dispense with the formal boilerplate notice next time. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:51, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No boilerplate was involved; I wrote it all myself, thinking that you might want to be aware that it was there in the first place. Didn't expect you to find it there so quickly after it had been written without a notification. Nyttend (talk) 20:56, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Still another revision

You missed one of the RD2 revisions at Talk:Chris Hansen‎. Just a heads-up :-). Jay Σεβαστόςdiscuss 20:58, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don't forget to hardblock open proxies

Hey Nawlin,

Just stopping by and saying don't forget to hardblock open proxies. Elockid (Talk) 21:04, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your basis for deleting my page entirely is because one citation, out of many legitimate ones, was from PRNewswire? Instead of just removing the portion cited from there? Wow, typical "Nawlins" education. You absolutely suck at editing, it's probably your full time job too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smartbro212 (talkcontribs) 20:17, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Submitting article for Directions on Microsoft

Regarding your previous deletion of this article, in Mar. 2012, you explained that the deletion was due to the article references not being about Directions on Microsoft (DoM), but being citations from DoM representatives. Before I submit a new version of the article, could you tell me if these references would support notability?

Thank you Robsanf (talk) 21:38, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Those are indeed sources about DoM itself. However, they are all blogs, which are not considered reliable sources per WP:RS. An article with those sources would probably not be subject to speedy (immediate) deletion, but would likely be posted for a deletion discussion at WP:AFD. Do you have any citations in mainstream publications? Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 21:46, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete my article? Voicent? there are thousands of articles about software developers on Wikipedia. If you are going to delete my article then delete all of them. I worked all day on it and you just deleted it like nothing at all. sincerely, Mike — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikez711 (talkcontribs) 23:18, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Setagaya Castle

Hello. You deleted the Setagaya Castle Ruins Page a while back. I noticed there is a Japanese Language Site on the castle Setagaya Castle but not an English one. I was going to try and translate and add info the the English page but noticed it didn't exist. May I recreate the page and update it with some information from the Japanese site? Do I need permission before starting this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thissatori (talkcontribs) 01:48, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I can't find a record of my having deleted this page (what was the exact title?), but feel free to create an English version of the Japanese page. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 11:53, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, kibitzing here. Freedom to create the English version of a ja:WP page is actually a bad idea, given the huge percentage of ja:WP articles that are sourced barely if at all. Encouragingly, this particular ja:WP article does have a grand total of one (1) source (for a grand total of one of its few sentences). The source is attributed to 世田谷区, i.e. Setagaya-ku. Here is the source (yes, a single short paragraph within a longer page). As you may notice, the domain name in its URL is odakyu.jp. This is not Setagaya-ku but instead Odakyu, as any fule kno. -- Hoary (talk) 01:45, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages update

Hey NawlinWiki/Archive 67 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on.

On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :).

On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! Question to my deletion.

Nawlin,

I was wondering why the page Itsachat.com was deleted because of A7. I followed the guidelines specified under the notability-web content and the only thing that i can determine for the reason of the deletion would be for lack of numerical/technical data. Otherwise the page was neutral and presented the facts of the site.

If i need to edit it more to be accepted I would greatly appreciate the input, but i do not believe that it needed to be deleted because the guidelines were followed.

Brain 41 (talk) 18:41, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • There was no indication in the article that Itsachat met our notability requirements for websites, see WP:WEB. Also, the article cited no independent (or any) sources, see WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:42, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • So if I add references and citations from other cites would that be more appropriate? Brain 41 (talk) 18:50, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • That is necessary, but not sufficient. You still need to show how this website meets the notability requirements set out in WP:WEB. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:51, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Triage prototype released

Hey NawlinWiki! We've finally finished the NPT prototype and deployed it on enwiki. We'll be holding an office hours session on the 16th at 21:00 in #wikimedia-office to show it off, get feedback and plot future developments - hope to see you there! Eric Arrouzé page

Hi there, I'm new and read the intro page plus already edited down this page to try and not make it advertising sounding but still rejected. I modeled the site after Preet Banerjee--all the links are to published sources about this recognized French chef who I believe deserves to be on Wiki due to his many years of publications and instructional resources regarding French cuisine--what more do I have to do to make the site go through? Request for Revdel and review of user's comments

Hi, I'd like to request RevDel of the edit summary only of this edit.

I'd also like you as an uninvolved admin to review this user's actions. He placed this comment on his user page in response to Sandstein (talk · contribs) opening Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Open Source Routing Machine, and when I asked him to remove it, I got this response. This user's talk page indicates he has received more than one "final" warning in the past regarding personal attacks and/or breach of civility, but it appears that the "final" warnings went stale before another user decided to warn him again. Not sure if a block is warranted here, but if it is I know that you'd be fair in imparting one. Thanks. —KuyaBriBriTalk 03:34, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Triage/New Pages Feed

Hey all :). A notification that the prototype for the New Pages Feed is now live on enwiki! We had to briefly take it down after an unfortunate bug started showing up, but it's now live and we will continue developing it on-site.

The page can be found at Special:NewPagesFeed. Please, please, please test it and tell us what you think! Note that as a prototype it will inevitably have bugs - if you find one not already mentioned at the talkpage, bring it up and I'm happy to carry it through to the devs. The same is true of any additions you can think of to the software, or any questions you might have - let me know and I'll respond.

Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:15, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RevDel Request

Hi. I found you on Category:Wikipedia_administrators_willing_to_handle_RevisionDelete_requests. Could you please take a look at this outing attempt [1]. I believe that edit should be struck as it is an obvious outing attempt at another editor. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:17, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for deleting the edit history on that diff, NawlinWiki. I notice the content from that diff (which contains the outing attempt) is still on that talkpage. Is there anyway to RevDel that content so the outing attempt does not appear anymore? ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 18:26, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've got it now. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:33, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you - seems to be properly redacted now. Thank you for the quick handling of that. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 21:57, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hi there. I would like to enquire about your deletion of Ronnie Radke's page a while ago. This man fits the criteria, and is semi-famous now. Could you please state what was wrong with the article, so I can recreate the article in a way that meets the standards? I know I wasn't the original writer of the article, but nonetheless Ronnie Radke should have a Wikipedia page of his own, and not just his current band. Thanks. Miss.ravenflame (talk) 03:16, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • See [[2]]. Given the multiple deletion reviews, but also given the passage of time and that Mr. Radke may well be notable enough now for an article, your best bet is to ask for another deletion review at WP:DRV. NawlinWiki (talk) 10:07, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
