Story Mechanics

Hi, trying to create a page for The Story Mechanics but it got deleted because of "No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content))"

Any help appreciated

Euanlaw (talk) 10:29, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • You need to cite reliable, independent sources (see WP:V) to show that this company is notable per the standards at WP:ORG. NawlinWiki (talk) 14:34, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Angela Sandy

NawlinWiki, why is my sandbox being nominated for deletion?Angela Sandy (talk) 15:35, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

history of the company is no necessarily an advertisement

Why have you deleted the page I created ? telling the story of the company and shortly noting on its launchers is not an advertisement, it's rather an information. --KasiaJ (talk) 15:10, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lifting protection

Back in August 2008, you fully protected Template:Politics of the United States. It has been over four years now and I feel that lifting its protection is overdue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LightSoup (talkcontribs) 23:20, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's a high-use template, but I've reduced to semiprotection. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 04:53, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? re: deletions/restorations/protections

At Socialist Equality Party (United States)‎ and International Committee of the Fourth International, I noticed article deletions and immediate restorations, but the edit summaries were ... unexplanatory. Is this sequence a workaround for some bug? --Lexein (talk) 17:28, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, so it was a bug. ;D --Lexein (talk) 19:31, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Real Bañil‎

I saw you deleted the previous version, which had the copied text from the Atlante article. I tagged it with {{db-hoax}} because this seems to be a guy writing about his fictional soccer team, which of course doesn't exist. Although I guess A7 would be more appropriate. There is no such thing in Queretaro or anyone else. Maybe a salt would be in order. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:45, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unexplained reverts

You reverted a couple edits by a new user without explanation - [1]. Can you please minimally leave a comment en the edit summary when you do this. We don't want to WP:BITE. -—Kvng 23:48, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • OK. These were edits that did not rise to the level of vandalism, but were not useful contributions. But thanks for the advice. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:44, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NawlinWiki. Since this user has explicitly agreed to stop editing information about their business, I've agreed to unblock them if they choose a suitable new username. If you've any concerns about that, please let me know. Cheers, Yunshui  13:38, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chillstep Article

Hi, just a very quick note. Am not a registered user - I tried to look up Chillstep in Wikipedia, and found you deleted the article in 2007. If you Google the word you now get 2.4m hits, as well as hundreds of albums tagged with the word 'Chillstep' on last.fm. I really think it should be reinstated as it is now 'notable'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.39.96.32 (talk) 13:44, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I actually deleted this twice - once in 2007, when it was a very short article referring to one obscure band's music, and once in 2010, when it referred to a gaming clan. If you can now cite reliable sources to show that this is a notable music genre, feel free to post a new article. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 17:13, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

East Timor

Hi NawlinWiki! Could you unprotect East Timor? This article has been continuously protected since September 2008. It could use some expansion, and maybe the edits from IPs won't all be vandalism. I submitted a request to WP:RPP but I was told to ask you about this.--eh bien mon prince (talk) 15:01, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Now unprotected for editing, let's see what happens. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 17:13, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there

i left a note for the wikipedia admin in the history page of the NCircle Network Security page. this article was written with full knowledge that a different author previously failed to meet notability guidelines several years back. I am hoping for a more careful review after I have re-written it from scratch. seems that the article was auto-deleted. regards --[[User:Saidkassem|Sai--Saidkassem (talk) 21:53, 15 February 2013 (UTC)dkassem]] (talk) 21:34, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not autodeleted, but it did not show notability, and all the sources were PR releases from the company itself. See WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:42, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • 3 out of the 5 of the references used do not rely on press releases issued by the company. if the article was not auto-deleted, than this means that you only took a few seconds to assess the article's notability. I know because I created the article anticipating this problem. A holistic assessment of my sources show that the company has notability on par or exceeding articles from competition that have not been deleted --Saidkassem (talk) 21:53, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Sources 1, 3, 4 and 5 are all PR releases (read them!), and 2 is merely an Inc. thumbnail profile. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:56, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for not including any sources and rationale for site inclusion as per the criteria standards: I was saving the article as I went along and was planning on including them to fit Wikipedia's standards. Lloney article (deleted)

Two articles, All African Alliance and The Addis Agenda and the were deleted for G8 and G11 respectively.

This is curious because The Addis Agenda was published by BookBaby and underwent Editorial Controls like every publisher. The book is being retailed by Apple's Bookstore, WH Smith, Barnes and Noble as well as Amazon.

I wrote the book but my entries here were purely informational to support the growing number of readers around the world.

In these deletions, I feel Wikipedia not only high-handed but kinda snobbish. I'm sure that's not JW had in mind originally. Lloney (talk) 18:09, 16 February 2013 (UTC) Lloney[reply]

Nosilla organics / Nosilla Organics article (deleted)

After creating the Nosilla_organics page, I tried to change the title using the proper capitalization per the company but didn't know how to change the name so copied the first and created Nosilla_Organics....both have been deleted?

It sounds like the reason for the deletion was due to a question of notability... In a world where companies prosper from poisoning people and the planet in the name of profits this company is successful and responsible....they've steadily gained notoriety at the grass roots level and seeing more coverage from magazines and blogs...http://www.nosillaorganics.com/press/index.htmh One question I have is how are they any less notable than http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sckoon_Organics?

Jlazz-wiki (talk) 01:14, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • First, let's take out the "this company is successful and responsible" argument - we can't be in a position of judging which subjects morally deserve to be in an encyclopedia. Rather, we rely on coverage by reliable independent sources, see WP:V. The article as written didn't cite any external sources, and your link to the company's page full of magazine covers doesn't help either. You would have to cite the actual external articles, and they'd have to be true independent articles rather than just reprints of PR releases (we get that a lot). Also, I've deleted the Sckoon article as promotional per WP:SPAM. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:57, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • As copied from your talk page:

"I've no idea why you ask me to block a certain user. (And the rationale is incomprehensible.) But when I look at your edit history, I see that the majority of your (few) edits are requests to block this or that other user.

If somebody needs to be blocked, please explain this at WP:ANI. You'll have to be lucid and persuasive.

Additionally, consider the excellent advice you've already been given here. I quote: If anybody is going to be blocked it is you for trolling. -- Hoary (talk) 07:46, 9 February 2013 (UTC)"

Hello, I am trying to contribute a page about a company, Thank you for your time!

Hello, I am trying to contribute a page about a company, that I find to have done notable work and has made notable creations. I have tried three times to post this specific contribution, but each time I get notices that the contribution in question appears to look too much like an advertisement instead of what is required by Wikipedia. I would like to know what I should do or try to do in-order to get this contribution posted. What commonalties do contributions have to get them accepted?

Again Thank you for your time

(KM) — Preceding unsigned comment added by KatieMaroldi (talkcontribs) 17:18, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • See WP:CORP. Also, a problem with your article is that it appears to be straight promotion of the company, possibly even taken unedited from their website. That's not allowed, see WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:48, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have sources!

Hello there, noticed you took down my page on "Shane Lunny" due to lack of verifiable notability. There are several independent sources which are available on the internet as well as magazines and newspapers to vouch for his work being significant. I did not include them in the initial posting, but I have a list back at my home base which I intended to update it with (as well as further information). Let me know if that is satisfactory to retry. It was my error to post before I could bring in any references. Thanks! ZoeDay (talk) 01:00, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • The sources need to be in the article when you post it. Assuming they are independent and not just PR releases, feel free to repost an article with the sources. NawlinWiki (talk) 01:22, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Because it's common courtesy to let you know

I referenced one of your blocks here. Not that I disagree with your blocking of that IP in the particular case, but rather that I question escalation of blocks when escalation isn't (in my opinion) necessary, a widespread practice by administrators. WebMeUp article deleted

Hi, NawlinWiki We are a new company called WebMeUp, and I just created a Wikipedia entry for it. I really did my best to make it useful and objective, yet it was deleted almost immediately before I could even discuss it with anyone... So, I was wondering if there was a way for us to improve it and to resubmit it again? If you could recommend something, I'd really appreciate. Thanks!

Daniel Ward designer

Hello, i would like to know why page [2] about Dan Ward was deleted? All basic information isn't contained an advertising of him or about his brand, but actual life facts which should be shown. Thank You.

AUF

Hi NawlinWiki. The page that I posted half an hour ago is my first publication. Therefore I would like to ask you for some "grace". May I kindly ask you to point out which specific parts of the article and which hyperlinks have advertising character, and which assertions need additional source support. Thanks much. Inawe 17:46, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • The main parts that seem to be promotion/advertising are (1) the detailed list of course offerings, and (2) the statement about "the main advantage" of the faculty composition. In general, though, you need to find reliable, independent sources (see WP:V) that discuss this institution (right now, all the sources in the article seem to be from AUF itself). Otherwise, the article may be deleted for lack of notability per WP:ORG and lack of independent verifiability per WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:23, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks NawlinWiki! I will correct that tonight dnd tomorrow.Inawe 18:28, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My friend

Seriously, the entire section is completely unsouced. Yes I am new but is not such a thing the cardinal sin here?IDoIndeedMissFrates (talk) 22:59, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I re-deleted that section. The warning was for changing "liberal" to "conservative", etc., with a misleading edit summary. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:01, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It was not my intention to be misleading, just concise in the summary. But if it is my error, the correction should be the elimination of all information without citations, no? IDoIndeedMissFrates (talk) 23:05, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, I accepted your deletion of the pan-pizza paragraph. The other edit, however, was not deletion, but just vandalism. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:07, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't say anything to me about accepting anything. And I object to any of my deletions being characterized as vandalism, that's undue. The section in question made clear and extensive claims without any citations whatsoever.IDoIndeedMissFrates (talk) 23:11, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Carter (Real Estate)

Carter is developing The Banks, which has a Wikipedia page with a link to Carter, which is a blank page. Also, the Georgia State Roadway and Toll Authority has selected Carter to begin negotiations for the relocations of the Amtrak and Greyhound stations, which is a closely followed story in the Southeast. View an article about it here. Please restore this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sduncan87 (talkcontribs) 16:13, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Earthrise Space, Inc.

How is a private company that is building a rover and lander to send to the moon in 2015 cause for 'speedy deletion' on the grounds that it does 'not denote how the company is notable'? Are you insane?

Thanks for deleting a page that took over an hour to wordsmith. Next time, be a decent human being and give some warning so that people can COPY AND SAVE THEIR WORK. You just became responsible for the $20 my company wasted creating this page. Get a life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Galaxart (talkcontribs) 17:51, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
