Incidentally, I really like the info on the right-hand side of your UserPage (you know, the "This User speaks English" and "This User supports" some team from Manchester (no offence!) and the suchlike! How (if you're still willing to talk to me!) do you manage things like that!

Hi! I believe we need to discuss the famous players section of the Manchester City. By famous, I understand big reputation players and it means George Weah, Peter Schmeichel and David Seaman should be there. However I don't think that's what it is meant to be. So I would like to suggest a rename of the section to something like "most important players".
Also, you pointed Seaman and Wanchope should not be there as they didn't play enough games for the club. I would like to add Deyna made just 34 league appearances in his three year spell. Keen to hear from you. Marceloschleder 16:59, 3 January (UTC)

I believe Manchester City 10-1 win over Huddersfield is their record league win. At least, that's what most of the websites and magazines believe it's right as the goal difference between the teams is 9. Even though City once scored 11 in a game, they conceded three, so the margin was smaller. Thoughts? Marceloschleder 15:58, 6 January (UTC)

Cheers - I'm currently working through Special:Contributions/AlexWilkes from the bottom up - Arsenal, Bolton, Blackburn & Charlton I've already done. Birmingham's article is a total mess and needs a lot of TLC, Aston Villa I've left alone for the moment (as I'd linked to it from Wikiproject Football). Someone has already sorted out the Chelsea article. I'll probably keep ploughing through it today, but if you just do the same on any articles it would be much appreciated. Right, I've sorted out Villa, and have got as far as Ipswich Town in the other clubs. The ex-Premiership clubs are trickier as some of their articles really do need a lot of cleanup - not just what AlexWilkes (talk·contribs) has added but other users' additions too. I know everybody calls him the first million pound player, but everybody can be wrong :) I think the problem lies in exactly how you count the transfer fee - the agreed fee might have been less than £1m, but it may have rose above £1m with agents fees, signing fee etc. I'll try and dig out some references. sjorford(talk) 14:25, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been thinking about creating a WikiProject for English non-league football, and am trying to find out if there's enough interest to make it worth doing. It would be useful to have somewhere for people who are interested in non-league football to have a place to discuss articles, and if there's enough interest we could get a monthly collaboration going with a view to getting non-league articles on the front page. It would be listed as a sub-project of WikiProject Football unless the members of that project objected strongly to it, and people would be able to join either or both (or neither) depending on what they were interested in. I thought you might be interested so I'd like to know if you are - if I get more than 3 or 4 positive replies I'll set it up. I reverted one of your changes to Wigan Athletic F.C., and its only fair to tell you why. You wrote This also effectively guarantees Wigan a place in the UEFA Cup in the 2006/07 season, as even if they lose to Manchester United, the latter team is almost certain to win a European place from a high Premiership finish, causing the League Cup slot to be passed down to Wigan. Unlike the FA Cup, finishing runner up in the League Cup does not grant qualification if the winner qualifies for Europe by other means; the place would then go to the next highest in the League. I agree with your idea. Although I do think that we should keep more of the data I'm compiling due to the fact that it's more accurate (has the top-three finishers rather than the winners). Obviously when more complete, I will make a note of promotion, due to the fact that the top three of the lower divisions aren't always the ones who get promoted. I also plan on adding play-off winners when I get to it and the brief histories. I'd much appreciate it if you want to be involved in doing this! I did a quick google search and I can't seem to find good ones. The Argentine Football Association's web page [www.afa.org.ar] has been down and only a token informative page remains, that would've been the first place to look. Just google "mundial 78" (or 1978) to see what you can find. ("Mundial" is how Argentines refer to the FIFA WC). :)
The problem with the Argentine copyright law, is that we can't just get any image that has been published in Argentina that we might find on the net, but we must scan them ourselves from the original source, since the scanning itself might be copyrighted (pretty much like the OCRed version of the Britannica 1911, which are copyrighted). It wasn't as much the number of teams (the number of teams does not reveal whether they played two or three times against each other, anyways) - it was more the exact number of matches played I was looking for, either for the entire team or the specific top scorers. Fore example, 60 goals/season would be more or less impressive depending on a season of 38 or 50 (or 24) games. To not have the same text of xx goals/xx games, you could include a small notice in the "history" section on the changes in league structure (if there ever was any changes), or perhaps link to an already existing article on that topic (if it exists). Tbh, although it's a little longer than Arsenal F.C. or IFK Göteborg, it's not that much, and I don't think it's an obstacle to it being an FA. But some trimming I would make:
Exact date of MCFC PLC being founded is pretty minor too.
rm "the most prestigious knockout tournament in English football"
Trim the first paragraphs of the 1960s & 1970s section, rm reference to the "Ballet on Ice" match or the fifteenth place.
I'd keep Law's backheel against the Reds. :-)

Cut out the recent 3-0/4-3 reverse against Spurs (as it had no long-term impact) and merge the last two paras.
If I were you, I'd also convert slashes in seasons to hyphens to conform with Wikipedia practice, and expunge references to "summer" to avoid offending antipodean Wikipedians (I got done for this in Arsenal's FAC). yes, FK Maladzechna-2000 is the same team (first, it changed name few times, adding and removing 2000; second, it is usually unclear how to translate city names to English - it could be FC Maładečna as well). It is playing at the third level now, being at the highest level in 2003 for the last time. There is generally too little info about teams playing at the low levels here, sorry :(. They had their official site at http://fcmolodechno2000.com when they were up.

I'm not totally convinced - the claim is prefixed with the phrase [His agent] is understood..., though whether the rumour is that RVP is Muslim, or merely that his agent helped convert him, I'm not sure. The Standard is a ghastly little rag, especially when it comes to its sports coverage, and to me doesn't carry the authority of a broadsheet or major broadcaster.
