Welcome!

Hello, Onglipo, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Rajeev Taranath, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. A tag has been placed on Rajeev Taranath requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Khadim Hussain Khan, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://itcsra.org/celebrated_masters.asp. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. A tag has been placed on Ramarao Naik requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Image problems

Hi, I nominated File:Laith J Rao.jpg, File:Laith J Rao Web.jpg, and File:RT-Somsekhar-Web.jpg for deletion for lack of license/source/as copyright violation. Hekerui (talk) 10:13, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For help with uploading images check Wikipedia:Image use policy and Wikipedia:Uploading images. In short, you have to provide an image source and add a free license to upload images to Wikipedia. You can only add a free license if you have taken the picture or if the original author grants you permission to upload the image under a free license in an email which has to be sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org Hekerui (talk) 14:21, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Helpme

[edit]

{{helpme}} Got the image from the owner with permission to use it on wiki. I cited the owner too. Why was it deleted?

When you get permission to use an image like that, you need to send confirmation of that permission to our OTRS team at permissions-en@wikimedia.org. They will take a look at what you have, and if it's sufficent for us to be able to use the image, they'll assign your image a "ticket number" that corresponds to the permission you sent in. If they need more information, they'll let you know what else they need. Go ahead and send the email now, making sure to let them know the exact filename of the image that was deleted. If the permission checks out, they should be able to restore the image for you. Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:14, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:RTaranath.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:RTaranath.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hekerui (talk) 07:31, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not post advertisments

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:17, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Polama

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Polama requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Bailo26 00:11, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:PolamaOrganizationLogo.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:PolamaOrganizationLogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 04:34, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am creating a new page for a musician. Is it ok to add youtube/facebook links to his performances in the page? Thanks— Preceding unsigned comment added by Onglipo (talkcontribs)

See WP:YOUTUBE and more generally WP:EXTLINK. You can't just link to their performances for the sake of linking to their performances. As for Facebook, it might be okay, as usually a link to an official website is permitted, but you can't list all the musicians social media pages.
You will also want to ensure that this musician meets at least one of the notability criteria written at WP:BAND. 331dot (talk) 09:22, 11 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a new biography of a living musician in my sandbox. How do I submit it for review? Onglipo (talk) 05:34, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a Submission Box to the top of your sandbox article. When you are ready to submit it for review, click the big button that says <Submit your draft for review!>. If you want more help, you can stop by the Teahouse or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Scottyoak2 (talk) 07:22, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can I add youtube/facebook videos as part of discography section for a living musician's page?

Onglipo (talk) 10:00, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would say no, as that would seem like you are advertising their music. There might also be copyright issues in doing so. If needed, the link you already have to YouTube would be sufficient. 331dot (talk) 10:04, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
