Grand Prix motorcycle racing seasons[edit]

Thanks for creating articles for many of these seasons. Very good work. Prolog 20:13, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Very good work? Thats an understatement your work is absolutely amazing!!! I personally asked user:readro and you I think that forty years of motorcycle racing was missinng from wikipedia and could you do it and I find in only a week or two it is practically done. Wow. Terrific stuff. I bow my Ernst Stavro Blofeld bald head done to you . Well done! I will be awarding you a barnstar. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Barnstar
This is awarded to Orsoni for his important and extensive work in providing the history of nearly forty years of motorcycle racing. Excellent work well done. I am proud of you Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:09, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the GP motorcycle category from Hockenheimring. There is no such race here.--NSX-Racer 15:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another compliment to you for the immense and impressive amount of work you did putting together the MotoGP seasons. I really wonder how you did it, though -- All manual entry? Scanning with text recognition? A little help from other web pages? A hint of an answer would be appreciated, but regardless, you've done a great job.--Uli Kunkel 22:35, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I entered them manually :) My job means I'm stuck in one place with many hours to fill.
You've sure put those hours to good use. On behalf of many MotoGP fans, thanks.--Uli Kunkel 17:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes[edit]

Please stop using {{subst…}} when adding infoboxes to articles as you have done for various motorcyclists: it's leaving an awful mess in the articles particularly since you have not supplied all the parameters (such as images). As you can see here, templates like these which have complex code to allow for optional parameters should not be substituted. Could you please either revisit those articles and replace the substituted text with the original infobox or at least make a note on the talk-page of which infobox you used so somebody else can tidy them up? If you do not know how to do this, feel free to drop me a line and I will endeavour to help you. TIA HAND —Phil | Talk 12:33, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was talking about articles like Graeme Crosby where you have obviously used {{subst:infobox…}}, but it's not obvious without some tedious digging which infobox you used. It would be much more helpful if you left the "subst:" out: then the infobox would still be there and updates to the infobox template would be reflected in the article; it would also be much easier for people to fill in information which might have been missing. HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 19:07, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Motorsport Barnstar[edit]

The Motorsport Barnstar
I hereby award you the Motorsport barnstar for all of your work improving motorsport articles. Your efforts are appreciated! Royalbroil 05:09, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good job on editing the Dick Mann article. I came here to give you a barnstar for all that you've done, but I see I already had. Keep up the great work! Royalbroil 13:12, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

hi, according to this webpage [1] he used the NSR500 in RSA, NAT, AUT, FRA, YUG. The older NS500 was used by Freddie in GER, NED, BEL. I also propose to change this text in the article: "In spite of this, he still managed to win 5 times that year on the NS500 three cylinder machine." since it seems Spencer won that year 3 times on the NSR500 and 2 times on the triple.  Dr. Loosmark  16:46, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

The Writer's Barnstar
For expanding the Pie Traynor article, which deserved a good expansion, and for the rest of your baseball related expansions I give you the writer's barnstar. Secret account 13:36, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Btw you should register at http://www.paperofrecord.com/default.asp . It gives you the entire Sporting News archives for your expansions of articles, maybe you could try expanding an article to FA. Thanks Secret account 13:36, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, very nice. I made a few picky changes - hope you don't mind. Another good source is Baseball Digest. Google Books has a huge collection of them (I presume because they passed into the public domain). I am in the slow process of expanding the Billy Meyer article using one issue... Eddie Yost[edit]

Orsoni, kudos for your work on the Eddie Yost article. It looks fantastic. Kithira (talk) 12:32, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jerry Grote and other articles[edit]

I encourage you to try for WP:GA and WP:FA these articles, your among the best baseball writers in the project, no reason why you shouldn't have a million FAs and GAs if you keep focus on it, I'll pass Grote for GA (after a few easy to fix comments). Secret account 20:54, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just came across Birdie Tebbetts, and I wanted to encourage you to nominate that for GA. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:48, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're selling yourself short. These articles are at or near GA status as they are. If you nominate them, a reviewer can tell you what needs to be changed. In the meantime, I can offer to help copy edit, and possibly review depending on the circumstances. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:47, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just came across your work on Benny Bengough and Buddy Rosar. You should certainly add those to your list of articles to GA nom. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:21, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 21:45, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I have completed a review of your nomination and left a couple of comments about very minor issues at Talk:Kenny Roberts/GA1. It's a great article. Even though I didn't know anything about motorcycle racing before I read it, I do now!

It's on hold for seven days.

Best wishes, MathewTownsend (talk) 01:42, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I've reviewed your GAN and made a few comments at Talk:Pepper Martin/GA1. I have placed the article on hold for seven days. All the problems mentioned only require little fixes and there are no major issues. It is a very well written and informative article.

Best wishes, MathewTownsend (talk) 18:25, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have a final question about the heading "The Gashouse Gang" - whether that term adequately characterizes the section. I'm going to pass the article, anyway, as that is not a deal breaker, but perhaps you could evaluate that.
Congratulations on a very fine article. MathewTownsend (talk) 14:43, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Good Article Barnstar
For your efforts in promoting Pepper Martin to GA. Your hard work needs to be rewarded! May we see many more good articles from you! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:45, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Good Article Barnstar
Thanks Orsoni for helping to promote Pepper Martin to Good Article status. Please accept this little sign of appreciation and goodwill from me, because you deserve it. Keep it up, and give someone a pat on the back today. --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 01:27, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As you always expand articles and such, you should join this years WikiCup, and try nominating the articles you expand for DYK for more namespace coverage. Secret account 22:55, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But I'm glad to see that you starting to nominate your articles for GA, if you need more help with these processes let me know. Thanks Secret account 22:58, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't closed the review yet, so if you can get to it now, that would be great. Other editors have helped out in the last week, I have to go back and see if my concerns have been addressed or not. I'm too busy today to be on Wikipedia, so this won't close yet. – Muboshgu (talk) 14:43, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your acknowledgement. I'll continue to work on that article, as well as others as time and spouse permit. Cheers, DoctorJoeE talk to me! 17:35, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help me![edit]

Please help me with... An editor on the Baja 1000 article has chosen to remove the sentence, "It is one of the most prestigious off-road races in the world, attracting competitors from all over the world." I returned the sentence, this time providing 4 inline citations mentioning the event's prestige but, the editor still reverted it. Editor's talk page shows that he is already involved in other edit wars. Any help in this matter is appreciated. Orsoni (talk) 18:56, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
