The article Dr. Roy Paget has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you ==Reference test== This is the text which you are going to verify with a reference.[1]

created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. The article Roy Paget has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not Notable. See Wikipedia:Notability#Self-promotion_and_indiscriminate_publicity. Also: No reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Roy Paget, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ukexpat (talk) 16:11, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your article on Roy Paget[edit]

Your article on Roy Paget had numerous problems: Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, but the article was written more like a promotional piece or a Facebook page than an encyclopaedia article.

  • The reason the article was deleted is that it seemed promotional. Among the things that made it seem promotional were peacock terms like “legendary,” “inspirational,” and “mission.” Encyclopaedias present facts not advertising or promotion.
  • It had several other problems in addition to being promotional. For one thing it did not show his notability. See the general notability guideline and the notability guideline for biographies for Wikipedia’s notability requirements. Encyclopaedias do not contain articles about people unless they are notable.
  • Another problem was that the asserted facts were not verifiable by references to independent reliable published sources. This is particularly important for the asserted facts that support his notability.

If you want to try again, begin by reading Wikipedia:Your first article. Base your article on what neutral third parties say about his career. Limit the personal stuff to his education and when and where he was born. Leave out the first person quotes. Write in a neutral encyclopaedic tone. And do not move your draft to article space until you have completed the references.

Finally, you’re his teen-aged daughter, right? If so, many people think you should not be writing about him at all because of your conflict of interest. At the very least you need to be very careful to be neutral.

(BTW, by “Californian Institute” do you mean California Institute of Technology?) —teb728 t c 23:32, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft[edit]

I've bashed User:PESP95/Dr Roy Paget more into shape - the glaring problem is a lack of reliable sources. You need to find these in order for this biography to survive. Fences&Windows 01:55, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
