Thanks for your comments about my edits to the article./ It's a good job you noticed what I'd done wrong, otherwise I'd have left the 33 out. While I checked that all the routes were in (like Wightbus' 20 route) I must have missed that I'd deleted the 33. All is fixed now though! -- Thanks, Arriva436shout! 16:40, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:IWSR crest.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:IWSR crest.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mifter (talk) 19:08, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:IWSR crest.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:IWSR crest.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:12, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Jean Lee (reporter)

With regards to your message, I didn't actually create the article Jean Lee (reporter), I simply renamed it as there were two Jean Lee's. I have no knowledge or interest in the article, so I don't mind what happens with it. Thanks for letting me know though. I appreciate your courtesy. Rossrs (talk) 08:41, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

no trouble at all :-) Rossrs (talk) 12:35, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks- I have now signed up to the Caulkhead Army. It says itstarted on 20 October 2008, which is puzzling. Shall I add ideas for expansion on the page ? Currently I am thinking of Ryde School and executions on the IOW ; Michal Morey and the IOW Catholic martyrs, Marsden & Anderson.--Streona (talk) 06:26, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Hi! As you may have noticed, I've just made a couple of changes to your excellent image Image:IsleofWightPublicTransportmap April 2008.jpg. Although it's still under the title "April 2008", I've updated it to the latest SV changes. I hope you don't mind.

These are some of the updates I did:

  • Extended 11 to Yarmouth
  • Changed 27 to 32 and removed 28 as replaced by 30 which was already shown as a limited journey.
  • Changed route numbers on tours to letters, they've not been known with numbers for ages, also, the Medina tour had randomly been given the number 48, when it's never carried a number of any sort.
  • 6 doesn't stop at Buddle Inn.
  • 29 as now run by Wightbus.
  • Alternate buses can't really be "variations to route" IMO, so changed that.

I hope you don't mind these slight changes, as there's no point in having an out of date job. I've made a rather shabby job of it as I don't have the original, so it's only and interim measure while you can hopefully one day make a proper new one. Also, if you can do this, would it be better as a PNG image? I say that as it wouldn't blotch!!

Thanks, and keep the good work up with all your SV edits!! Arriva436talk/contribs 19:00, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

There's a new JPG version already online at iwpaths.co.uk/travel but I have since realised it wasn't quite right (eg: I left the 13 off as it briefly seemed like it wasn't going to run any more). An (updated) updated version is in progress and will be both on Wiki and website in the next few days. Personally, I think alternate buses, while not ideally described as a 'route variation', can be indicated as such. After all, isn't that the basic difference implied by the old 7/7A numbers (for example)?--Peeky44 (talk) 13:17, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Excellent! Once you've uploaded that, I (or you) can revert the April 2008 version to what it was before. A couple of points though:
I would say though that there's no point putting the route numbers on the tours as they don't exist anymore, and the "48" for the Medina Tour is completely incorrect, it has never carried a number or has ever been given one. I would also argue that alternate buses shouldn't be marked as "variations". You give the example of the 7/7A, but that was a variation, the "A" suffix given to it showing this. However, that was then (when timetables were novels) and this is now, and if you compare it to today's 1 for example, it's a completely different story. Southern Vectis obviously want to keep it as one route (otherwise they'd have given it suffixes). Every other bus goes on each leg, and at every 12 minutes on each part (better than the frequencies of most the other routes), it's hardly a "variation" (especially as every other bus goes either P&R or Round House. A variation I would say is something like when route 2 used to extended to Bembridge or now route 3 going on the main road.
Apart from a couple of my opinions, keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing the new map soon. :) Arriva436talk/contribs 19:23, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, the new version is now available at Media:IsleofWightPublicTransportmap September 2008.png. It's thoroughly revised (if a little late) and in PNG format as suggested! Cheers. --Peeky44 (talk) 22:10, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
I just happened to come across the new map very soon after you uploaded it! Very good map!! Nice to see it's PNG, as while it's not a major matter, it does look cleaner and doesn't "blotch" when made smaller than the original size. Now let's just wait and see what changes there will be next time... (and I look forwards to another map!) Arriva436talk/contribs 22:14, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
