Image tagging for Image:Mccray patrick b1-lg.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mccray patrick b1-lg.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image copyright problem with Image:Cape_Town_Moonwatch_team.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Cape_Town_Moonwatch_team.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 23:25, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Mccray_patrick_b1-lg.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mccray_patrick_b1-lg.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 23:41, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Baker Nunn Camera .JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Baker Nunn Camera .JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:05, 18 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Iamunknown 04:05, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Terre haute station inside.jpg, by Iamunknown, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Terre haute station inside.jpg is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Terre haute station inside.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Terre haute station inside.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:44, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your question at the help desk[edit]

I've answered your question at the help desk, see Wikipedia:Help_desk#Images. Dismas|(talk) 18:59, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they have an appropriate license now.
Just a couple more things though.... In the future, when asking questions at the desks or when starting a new conversation on someone's talk page, please don't simply edit the whole page or the last entry on the page. Talk pages, discussion pages, the help desk, and other such pages have a + symbol at the top. This will provide you with a subject line field and a field to enter your comment or question. Then when you save the page, your comment/question will be given the heading and such so that things are easier to understand. If seperate items don't have their own heading it gets rather confusing.
And lastly, when posting to talk pages and the help desk and such, please sign your user name using four tildes. It will look like ~~~~ when you type it out but when you save the page, it will automatically expand to show your user name and the time stamp. Just like I'm going to do right now... Images[edit]

Hi, Pmccray, I tagged the images, and I saw that you updated them with an appropriate image copyright tag. I'm sorry if I distressed you, I did not intend to. I am still concerned, however, that the images do not indicate a source to verify that they are in the public domain. Could you provide one? Thanks, Iamunknown 19:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pmccray, I've tagged Image:Millbrook 1.JPG, Image:Moonwatch schematic.jpg and Image:Moonwatcher in action.JPG for speedy deletion and no source is available to confirm that these images are in the public domain. If you can find a source, then feel free to add it to the image description pages and remove the speedy deletion template. Cheers, Iamunknown 07:56, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
E-mail might be easier. Could you enable your e-mail? Go to Special:Preferences, add your e-mail address in the text box next to "E-mail (optional)*" and then click "Save". You'll get an e-mail and you should follow the instructions there; then we can correspond. --Iamunknown 22:48, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Hi Professor McCray! It looks you're the main author of W. Patrick McCray. It's a Wikipedia guideline that "writing an autobiography on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged" -- see Wikipedia:Autobiography. This is why I'm working on your article; I don't mean any offense by my edits. :) Can you edit it (or even better, ask your colleagues to edit it) to show how you fulfill WP:PROF? Dreamyshade 01:20, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for looking over my edits. I'm still not sure this article shows its notability, though -- can you improve that? I may eventually nominate it for deletion, to let other editors decide. Dreamyshade 09:53, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article was just, rather strangely, nominated for deletion. I've added some sources for it, if you have any more to add that would further underline its notability. Nick mallory 00:18, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Here's a link to a 1957 New York Times article on the NY Times site, if you want to add it to the Moonwatch article. FlowerpotmaN (t · c) 01:10, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
