Keiser University – College of Golf

Hi Prahlad balaji, my edits to the article you are talking about did not include any words or verbiage that made it come off in a wrongly persuasive way. I only made grammatical edits for content already put in place, and took out a section that had nothing to do with the article. It had nothing to do with conflict of interest, rather it was helping fix an article I saw that could use help. With that being said, {{Help me}} how do you think the Keiser University – College of Golf article should be edited (since you find this one to be biased and wrong) so that it has an overall neutral point of view? I would like to know, because I want to help. Thank you. (KTLC12 (talk) 19:46, 12 June 2020 (UTC))

KTLC12 I never reverted you, just restored the COI template. I never specified that the COI editor was you. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:21, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

I'd rather not go into too much detail per WP:BEANS, but the user's contributions matched a specific recurring spambot called "NTSAMR". creffett (talk) 20:37, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Oh yes, I've seen those cases before. Is NTSAMR an LTA case? PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:38, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Also, could you tell me where to find more about NTSAMR? Thanks. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:40, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Turns out it isn't quite as hush-hush as I thought. See meta:NTSAMR for some details. If you do see that pattern and are reasonably convinced it's a spambot, just report it to AIV as a spam-only account with an explanation like "NTSAMR pattern spammer" and the admins there should know what to look for. creffett (talk) 22:50, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Boltzmann brain

Hi bro You undid my revisions claim "lack of reliable source." Please note:

  • some revisions removed unreliable, poorly source material including
  • I did read materials and keep two sources from the sections I trimmed or reworked
  • those sections were garbage, badly sourced and made outrageous claims anyway
  • one section rewrite for comprehension by target audience, otherwise just take it away because, "no" is the simple answer to that question — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.200.167.203 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Significant editing problems

Hello Prahlad balaji.

I'm afraid I've noticed a considerable number of problems with your edits in recent days. You've begun to undertake some sort of clerking type role at some of the permission noticeboards, this is completely inappropriate and causes difficulties when trying to handle permission requests. We don't typically have clerks at this noticeboard, primarily because to be effective in clerking that noticeboard, you would need to be an administrator (in order to view deleted edits etc) and as administrators can perform all of the user permissions requests, it's a redundant role. This does mean, unfortunately, you're not qualified to be clerking any of the permissions noticeboards and shouldn't be doing so. We also find, regrettably, that good faith comments left about other users, when not in full possession of all the necessary facts, can cause disagreements and create some unfortunate situations or confusion, which is far from ideal.
Next, I see you're also making edit filter error reports, which is appreciated, however I notice one of your most recent edit filter reports, regarding edits to Jamie Dornan concern edits which were not approved. I'm disturbed that you've managed to file an edit filter report but have failed to approve the edits. This is far from ideal. The public facing areas of the encyclopedia are considerably more important than the behind the scenes maintenance aspects.
Moving on, I notice you've been making changes to sockpuppet templates - this is something that should really only be done under the auspices of checkusers and SPI clerks, there can be a significant difference in how we treat suspected versus confirmed sockpuppets, it is important that we do not incorrectly note that sockpuppetry has been confirmed by technical evidence when that may not be the case - in many cases, particularly where public WiFi and wide ranges of mobile telephone networks are involved, it can be impossible to confirm technically sockpuppetry, and in such cases, we rely on correct tags to determine whether we can include or exclude certain accounts from our investigations.
Finally, I noticed an edit to Talk:Speaker_of_the_Provincial_Assembly_of_Punjab, you should be reporting pages with personal information, financial information etc to WP:OVERSIGHT for permanent suppression, rather than nominating them for deletion or blanking them.
I don't wish to discourage you, your enthusiasm is appreciated, but I would really ask that you slow down, move into new areas more cautiously, and find more conventional areas to work in, rather than suddenly deciding to clerk noticeboards, do some unusual sockpuppet tagging etc.

-- Nick (talk) 15:13, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

@Nick, I understand all but " I'm disturbed that you've managed to file an edit filter report but have failed to approve the edits". Can you tell me what that means? PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:20, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
The edits made by Urbstkeptsecrets were still waiting in the pending changes queue quite some time after you filed the edit filter report (those edits were approved by Praxidicae). Nick (talk) 15:24, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
@Nick: I'm sorry about that, didn't know that the filter allowed it. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:26, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
@Nick: Please tell me how to deal with all this. I have a feeling I'm going crazy. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:31, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
I'm hoping some of your talk page stalkers may offer additional guidance, but as I said, it's a case of slowing down, if you can't see anything to edit, step away from your device instead of finding things to edit, when you move into a new area, tread very cautiously and ask people who know (so for the sockpuppet stuff, asking a checkuser or SPI clerk at the start, is one such example). Don't be afraid to ask administrators if there's anything we need help with, we can often suggest areas that suit your level of skill and expertise, such as checking on image sources and licenses, which are enormously helpful and which don't need any special permissions. Hope that's some help. Nick (talk) 15:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

  • @Nick: I see you're an admin: could you have a look at User_talk:Dattisan#Conflict_of_Interest where I think Prahlad may be dealing with matters best left to admins / UTRS etc, in relation to a COI editor with a WP:OWN problem (see above also). As I understand it emailing their sources to Prahlad is not a way to satisfy Wikipedia's sourcing requirements. Thanks. PamD 17:32, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes, a brief overview of the situation would be appreciated, Prahlad balaji, so we can work out the best approach for dealing with the situation here. I'm sure you're aware, but source material for articles should be published in recognised reliable sources (typically taken to mean a source independent of the article subject, and made available in books, journals, magazines etc, which are reasonably widely distributed). Is that the sort of source material you've being sent by Dattisan ? Nick (talk) 19:14, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
@Nick and PamD: I told the user that to get a quicker reply, the user can discuss on the talkpage. And last time I checked, Dattisan hasn't replied. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:00, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Questions

I left a note at User talk:Taiba Shay, but it's probably better addressed here. I'm not sure why you thought it necessary to leave this message on their user talk page? I had already engaged with the editor yesterday, and pointed out the guidelines relevant to editing with a conflict of interest. Why did you think it necessary to jump in to ask them if they were being paid to create the article when they noted that they were trying to create an article about themselves? -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:35, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

@Ponyo: I am quite sorry about that, I misremembered that the content on the page was promoting a company, not an autobio. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 18:38, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
She stated in the sentence you replied to, and in the discussion with me in the next post on her talk page, that she was trying to write an article about herself. Given those admissions your question was inappropriate regardless of what you remember was in the deleted content of her user page, especially given it had already been brought to her attention the day before. I understand that it was done in good faith, but before leaving messages on a new editor's talk page, perhaps slow down and read what's been said before and decide whether engaging with them would benefit them and the encyclopedia.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:57, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
I'm just passing, but I'd remind you again, that slowing down, being more measured in your editing and asking yourself 'should I be getting involved here' and 'should I ask for help from someone more experienced' are things you should be doing before each and every edit. Nick (talk) 19:13, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

User talk:Brysonjett

I restored this last edit for a reason. It's silly taunting, hardly noteworthy as a personal attack. It does, however, demonstrate further disruption, which is why that remark led to me revoking talk page access. There's nuance in these situations; if you're not adept at understanding nuance (which can take years of editing to accrue such understanding), then it's better not to act. Thank you for the information about Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. I declared conflict of interest prior to submitting the article through the the Articles for creation process, though I now understand that even though my conflict of interest was declared, the Wikipedia community still frowns upon these types of submissions. Thank you for the clarification.

I have since requested the article be created instead: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Business_and_economics/Companies/M-S&stable=0#R

Thoms Craig Lundmark Article

Hi,

I wrote the Wikipedia article for my professor (Prof Dr Lundmark) and I struggle to understand why the resources are not reliable as I cited 3 Universities where he has worked and where he still works. Further I linked his Amazon author's page and one of the biggest publishing companies for law in Germany where also the biography is included. There is nothing more to find for references on the internet. Can you specify how the references I cited are not reliable? Thanks.

Kind regards,

Wladimir von Samsonow.

There are no inline citations. Inline citations are required to know where the info came from. Request on 18:32:43, 25 June 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by Jamesseals

Hello,

I see my article was deleted. It was stated that they didn't have enough reliable sources, but there are sources from Yahoo Finance, Forbes, Entrepreneur Magazine, and several others. It was also stated that it was unambiguously promotional, which I have to disagree with. It doesn't state anywhere in the article for them to go purchase and item, it talks about her cookbooks and her experience in the cooking industry. How can I edit this, or should I ask, what should/could I do to make this acceptable?

I appreciate your help and any help you can assist me with.

P.S. I see you work at the Broward Library. I actually live in Sunny Isles Beach and I used to go to that library all the time when I lived in Sunrise, Florida.

Pârâ village moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Pârâ village, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. CommanderWaterford (talk) 12:47, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

@KardashianFan: Well, you also cited Wikipedia, which is not reliable (see WP:CITEWIKI). Therefore I removed it. If you want to re-add it without citing Wiki, please do so. Best, PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 21:11, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
Oh, so that was actually a mistake on my part. I did not see that the source lead back to Wiki. I've since added it with the appropriate article. Thanks for letting me know. KardashianFan (talk) 21:36, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
No problem! Let me know if you have any questions. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 21:41, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Egalia's Daughters rejected edit

I changed "women," plural, to "woman," singular, a simple one-letter change to make a sentence grammatically correct. I noted the reason for the change. How is this "unconstructive?" The bot is too aggressive. 173.217.182.134 (talk) 17:39, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

No, the change I was talking about was in your filter log, see this. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 17:42, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
Why is it "unconstructive" to add the article about the child sex trafficking ring "Operation Cathedral" to the pedophilia category? 173.217.182.134 (talk) 17:45, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
I don't know, report at WP:Edit filter/false positives. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 17:47, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Edit: your note on my talk page referred to "Egalia's Daughters"

I'm sorry :P, it was Operation cathedral. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 17:50, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
"Wikipedia does not have a project page with this exact name." The link to report does not work. If you're going to start an argument about an overly aggressive bot, it would be helpful to have some way to meaningfully respond. 173.217.182.134 (talk) 17:55, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
What are you talking about? It is WP:Edit filter/false positives, and it does exist. Try reloading the page. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 17:56, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Slow down

I know you've been asked this from me, and at least one other admin, but you need to slow down. This is an MfD that you incorrectly tagged for deletion. How is this a case "where the author of the only substantial content has requested deletion". The only purpose any editor should have in editing Wikipedia is to make it a better experience for our readers, not to mash as many red/warn buttons that you can like it's some online war game. Please try to put more thought behind whether your edit is actually necessary and correct as opposed to just inserting yourself everywhere. -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:56, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

@Ponyo: I didn't blank it, the author did. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 19:26, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
No, the author did not. Actually look at what you did there.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 19:45, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
@Ponyo: What did I do there? And what do you suggest I do in the future? PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 19:53, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
(edit conflict) The author of the MfD page is User:Train of Knowledge. A Fungus Amungus blanked the MfD page. You then tagged the page for CSD G6 speedy deletion "where the author of the only substantial content has requested deletion and/or blanked the page in good faith". A Fungus Amungus was was not the only substantial author and did not even create the MfD, nor was their blanking an MfD created by another user to avoid the deletion of their user page "good faith".-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:02, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
@Ponyo: I’m sorry :P, I thought that the author blanked it. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 19:58, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
That's exactly the problem. If you slow down and review what's going on as opposed to mashing buttons, these types of errors whould virtually disappear.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:07, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
Unbelievable.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:07, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

G12

Do not remove g12 tags even if the creator blanks articles. G7 is not an alternative for G12 and the G12 needs to be preserved as a reason in the history to prevent wasting admin time at WP:RFUD when it is inevitably requested to be restored. Praxidicae (talk) 17:51, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

@Praxidicae: I'm sorry, I didn't know that. I'll keep that in mind next time. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 17:52, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
I believe my edit summary was clear as was Ponyo above about other tagging of yours. Praxidicae (talk) 17:52, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
Nono, that one was different. I thought that the author had blanked it when in reality somebody else did. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 17:55, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for messaging me

Thank you for messaging me about my recent edits to a page on smart motorways, I didn't understand the importance of giving a reason for deleting text. obviously now I think about it, it make perfect sense, and I have now done it again properly. I notice however that neither of my 2 edits to the page are showing, is there a moderation I must wait for until the edits show? Thank you Claire Claire Mercer (talk) 21:02, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi claire Mercer, I have checked your contribs and filter log, and as far as I can see, there were no edits disallowed and/or warned by the filter after I messaged you. Please try again and let me know. Best, PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 21:27, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Claire Mercer: Your edit was reverted by Richard BB and that's why you don't see it. You should discuss your changes on the talk page (and please don't mark content changes as minor). --regentspark (comment) 21:38, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

seems very user unfriendly, am sure i know more about smart motorways than Richard BB, but will take that knowledge elsewhere (smartmotorwayskill.co.uk) and leave wiki to be wrong, just mind you don't OTT moderate your selves out of a job, an encyclopedia that's wrong is no use to anyone Claire Mercer (talk) 21:56, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

@Claire Mercer: Best to explain on the talk page why your changes are good. On Wikipedia, discussion and collaboration is the right way to approach editing.--regentspark (comment) 22:43, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

my point is i'm not going to do that, the info i spent hours typing on to wiki was correct, then somebody that made no attempt to verify it just undid it all, my webpage is correct, it's yours that's wrong and i'm not going to spend more time correcting your page, i did that once. Hi. Do you have any reliable source of her age. Im her college mate. I know her age and birth year. Infact she herself mentioned about her age in many interviews. But you are misleading readers with wrong informations. Please don’t do that.

Venkatraobaji You might be her college mate, but that doesn't mean you can't give a reliable source. See WP:OR and WP:RS for more info. Thank you. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 18:02, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

Test edits

Today I was notified by mail as follows:

Subject: Prahlad balaji‬ left you a message on Wikipedia User talk:Peters1960 July 2020 [information icon] Hello, I'm Prahlad balaji. An edit that you recently made seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want to practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 14:40, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

MY REACTION: 1 - I haven't done any test edits. 2 - You have not stated which specific wiki article this concerns. Please clarify. 3 - What makes you think my edit looks like a test? 4 - Please do not interfere with my edits at times when you will only address urgent messages. I suggest that instead you leave the interference to others who have time.

peters1960 Sorry about that, I saw some extraneous markup by you and thought it was a test edit. However, I did not revert you. Also stop saying that I am interfering with you; I am not, and I have all the time in the world. The linked article is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:47, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Please explain "some extraneous markup". Peters1960 (talk) 22:39, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

[continuing] You wrote: "An edit that you recently made seemed to be a test and has been removed." Do you know who removed is? And if YOU did not remove, who did and why are YOU the one to inform me? Isn't that up to the person who did the removal? Peters1960 (talk) 22:43, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

Peters1960 "Extraneous markup" - was empty ref tags that you might've accidentally added. I removed it. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 23:05, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

Slow down before draftifying

You moved Draft:Paraga dance to draft just one minute after it was created, as "undersourced". Please slow down: leave an editor time to continue their first session of editing on an article. Yes, of course, no-one ought to hit "Save" until their article is fit for main space, but in practice many editors create an article in stages over a series of consecutive edits. If an editor last edited an article 10 minutes ago, especially if they have moved on to edit other articles since, then it might be fair to move it to draft, but this is not a reasonable action to take on such a new article. Either leave it alone - it was not a BLP issue or anything controversial, so no real urgency - or tag it as requiring better sources. Your moving it to draft so fast was over-enthusiastic and not constructive, as the editor is now faced with the complexities of trying to get an article approved via AfC.

I wonder why you have decided to ban the very helpful "SineBot" from your page? You complain that "For some reason SineBot wants to keep signing my talk page": it adds signatures to otherwise unsigned posts, for your benefit and for the benefit of any other editor who wants to read the page and understand who is saying what and when. That seems a very sensible reason. What is your problem with this? PamD 22:08, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

pamD Sorry that I draftified the article that soon. I will try to draftify after 10 minutes. I banned SineBot because many new editors don't sign their posts on my talkpage, and when SineBot signs them, it causes edit conflict. Again, sorry. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 00:22, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
Most other editors manage to cope with the occasional SineBot edit conflict: I suggest that on balance it is a bot worth allowing, as it allows other readers to read a conversation more clearly when they know the date and time, as well as authorship, of contributions. Or you could add the {{unsigned}} template yourself manually. PamD 07:58, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
PamD, will do, thanks for the suggestion. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 12:18, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Double reporting

As noted at the top of UAA, please either leave a message on their talkpage, or report them to the noticeboard. They don't need two notices when we go around to block that say the same thing. Thanks, -- Amanda (aka DQ) 18:54, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

AmandaNP Please clarify. Which user are you talking about? PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 19:04, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
Peterblount. You left two COI related notices and reported to the noticeboard at the same time. The information is overlapping and they don't need to be spammed. At the top of UAA, it says Do not leave a username warning on a user's talk page and also immediately report them here. Do one or the other, and not both simultaneously. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 19:29, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
