Hello Puregoldxxxx. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Paul Polansky, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

Verifying permission for images[edit]

Hi, Marco. Thanks for your note. I believe I should be able to help you especially with the image concern.

What's needed here is for you to verify that you have authority to license these images so that they can be retained on Wikipedia. Except for a very few exceptions (usually in biographies of deceased individuals), portraits uploaded here must be released by the copyright holder under a free license. We allow several, but they share in common a requirement that others be allowed to reuse the work (even commercially) and that the work be released for modifications.

The simplest way to release content for reuse on Wikipedia is to license it at the official website. For example, you might make a subgallery (akin to this one) where you collect the images you wish to release and place a notice on the page something like this:

The images on this page are available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and the GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts).

(Please be sure that Mr. Polansky himself has the right to authorize your license of these images. Usually, copyright in a portrait is owned by the photographer, unless the rights are transferred. These licenses are not the only options and they are not both required, but they are the ones we recommend. I can give you other options if you prefer.

Since the images have already been deleted, an administrator will need to help you bring them back, if you place that release on the website. If you leave a note on my user talk page, I'll be happy to help with that, although it can sometimes take me a couple of days to respond to notes. :)

If you would prefer not to place a release on the site, that's okay--we can work around that. But it is a little more complicated. In that case, we would need an email clearly identifiable to the official domain specifically identifying the images (the title under which they were uploaded on Wikipedia) and verifying their license. The form letter we recommend is here: Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. That page also includes the email address to which the letter should be sent.

In that case, you should hear back within a few days from an email volunteer agent processing your letter, either confirming the license or pointing out issues with the permission that must first be addressed.

In terms of the quotes about the material, that's a little bit trickier. First, Mr. Polansky does not own copyright to those, and so they must conform to our non-free content policy and guideline. We need verifiable citations (specific details about where and when these things were said so that our readers can assess them) and clearly marked quotations. Even with those things, however, it's really not a good idea for a representative of a creative professional to place critical praise for that professional's work on Wikipedia. The project has very strict notions about perceive conflicts of interest, and you and Mr. Polansky should really be very careful to ensure that any content you add to the article is clearly neutral. It's better to let a reader eventually expand on critical reception than to risk your edits being mistaken as promotional.
