Speedy deletion nomination of TiDB
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on TiDB, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of https://github.com/pingcap/docs. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, Queenypingcap. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, TiDB, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:03, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
Hello, Queenypingcap,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether TiDB should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TiDB .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks, Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:53, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
Got it. Thanks a lot, Kudpung!

RE:About recreating the TiDB page
[edit]Hey Queenypingcap,
Thanks for your message. Before addressing your concerns, let me first formally welcome you to Wikipedia! I see that you have encountered some problems with editing, but let me assure you, as long as you are editing in good faith (which you are), all of your contributions are more than welcome here :)
Regarding the TiDB article, at first I marked it for speedy deletion, because it seemed the material of the page was copied verbatim from a potentially non-free source, in violation of Wikipedia's policies on copyright. It was then deleted. You then re-created the article, this time without the copyrighted content. This is a huge improvement from the deleted version of your article, as much, if not all of the plagarized, copyrighted content has been removed. However, this time, an admin has voiced concern over whether your article meets our notability guideline for inclusion. Consequently, he opened a deletion discussion where the community would discuss whether your article should be kept, merged or deleted.
In a nutshell, all articles in Wikipedia are presumed to be sufficiently notable if they met the General notability guideline, i.e. they are related to topics that received significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject. Hence, in the deletion discussion, I suggest you to explain why, in your opinion, the TiDB topic meets the aforementioned notability threshold. If you can successfully convince other editors, congratulations, your article will be kept. But even if your article gets deleted, don't be upset! It happens all the time, especially to newcomers (some of my earliest creations were deleted too :P). If you need help on article creation, I strongly suggest you to use Article wizard, a user-friendly, interactive process specially designed for creating new articles. Alternatively, you may wish to submit your draft article to Articles for creation. An experienced user will review your draft submission, and make sure it complies with Wikipedia's policies before the article is officially created. This can ensure your new article would not be deleted.
Regarding the content of the article, I don't have any content-specific advice, because I am not familiar with the topic. As a general feedback, I would suggest adding more reliable sources about the topic. Also, external links in the body of the article should be removed.
I also noticed you've asked whether Non-English (e.g. Chinese) sources are acceptable in Wikipedia in the deletion discussion. Generally speaking, non-English sources are allowed, so long they are reliable, even though English are almost always preferable. If you need further help, please feel free to contact me any time! Alternatively, you may wish to visit the Teahouse, a place where friendly editors are always available for assistance. Thank you :) --Dps04 (talk) 15:09, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
Hi Dps04,
Thank you so much for all these detailed instructions and the kind words! I am deeply moved by your way of welcoming me to the big Wikipedia family. You help and encouragement is priceless for a newbie like me. I seriously cannot thank you enough!
I will take your advice and Kudpung's advice very seriously and see how I can improve this page further.
Again, Thanks a lot!!! Best regards,--Queenypingcap (talk) 05:47, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
