The article Peter Latham (born 1937) has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

All biographies of living people created after March 18, 2010, must have references.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hello RIP Grandpa 1937-2012. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Peter Latham (born 1937), you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. SwisterTwister talk 01:34, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Peter Latham (born 1937), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

could be an attack, could be vandalism but the prose relates to a person on a completly different name who did decease on 02/02/2012

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. My76Strat (talk) 01:41, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits[edit]

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather's death, but Wikipedia is not a memorial. For an article to merit inclusion on Wikipedia, WP:N must be met. There are other sites on the Internet for this purpose, such as http://www.findagrave.com/, to suit what you want to do. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:10, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Couple of things you may be interested in[edit]

Hello, Mr Latham. Wikipedia's notability criteria for footballers says that only players who have appeared in a fully professional league (there's a list at WP:FPL) qualify for an article. So we shouldn't be creating pages for players who haven't played above the Belgian Second Division, for instance. And the policy on copyright violation makes it clear that for legal reasons we can't copy lumps of text direct into articles. Good to see that your more recent creations aren't just made of copypastes from club websites. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:50, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Grégoire Neels, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
