Illegal immigration in India
[edit]I am working to improve this article. Currently this is a jumble of newspaper references. Many are not even available any more. Most of the newspaper reports and other sources refer to the long obsolete 1991 Indian census. I am doing data mining on this issue and I need your help on the particular case of stranded Pakistanis.
1. How many stranded Pakistanis are now present in Bangladesh? Current(2010-10-20) English wikipedia article suggests two different stats. 2,40,000 to 3,00,000 and 6,00,000+. Bangla wikipedia says 2,75,000 but doesn't site any reference. Please confirm
2. How many were there in 1971? Bangla wikipedia suggests that 10,00,000 came after partition. Is this correct? There number should have increased by 1971. Any idea? 1961 census in Bangladesh (then Pakistan) may throw some light.
3. How many got refuge in Pakistan? Around 1,70,000 according to English wikipedia. 2,00,000 according to an Indian source. Please confirm.
4. Are they granted Bangladeshi citizenship yet? In all or part?
If you have any dependable source of information on this kindly let me know.

The article Jodi Kichhu Mone Na Koren has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unreferenced since 2006 - are Bangladeshi tv shows inherently notable?

DC and contributions
[edit]Greetings! Please excuse this intrusion on your talk page, and allow me to invite you to participate in the newly-formed Wikipedia Contribution Team (WP:CONTRIB for short)! The goal of the team is to attract more and better contributions to the English Wikipedia, as well as to help support the fundraising team in our financial and editing contribution goals. We have lots of stuff to work on, from minor and major page building, to WikiProject outreach, article improvement, donor relations, and more—in fact, part of our mission is to empower team members to make their own projects to support our mission. Some of our projects only take a few minutes to work on, while others can be large, multi-person tasks—whatever your interest level, we're glad to have you.
If this sounds interesting, please visit WP:CONTRIB and sign onto the team. Even if there does not appear to be anything that really speaks out as being work you'd like to do, I'd encourage you to join and follow the project anyway, as the type of work we'll be doing will certainly evolve and change over time. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me, or ask on the team talk page. Regards, ⇒DanRosenthal Wikipedia Contribution Team 02:59, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- As an aside, I'm also a local DC Wikimedian. We'd love for you to attend the next DC meetups. I'm specifically contacting you as you expressed interest in the Campus Ambassador position, and both the DC Wikimedians group and the Wikipedia Contributions Team have a lot of interest in working along with the Campus Ambassadors. You can reach me on my talk page, or by email at drosenthal@wikimedia.org with questions; I can't guarantee that I'll be checking back on your talk page often enough to hold a sustained conversation there. Speedy deletion declined: Hassan Shahriar
[edit]Hello Ragib. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Hassan Shahriar, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: editor of a daily newspaper and president of Commonwealth Journalists Association is certainly enough to pass A7. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 17:56, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Hello Ragib! I noticed something different about the list of medical colleges in Bangladesh. It has the word 'colleges' instead of 'schools' unlike other articles of the same nature. See lists of medical schools. You will notice that the word 'schools' is the standard when it come to professional training institutes. Only articles intended for Bangladesh and India do not follow this standard pattern. As you are the only currently active and the frequent editor of this article, I suggest you move/merge this article to List of medical schools in Bangladesh. Cheers. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 11:39, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Farjad,
- The institutions for medical education in Bangladesh are officially named "Medical College"s. So, I'm not sure calling them "Medical schools" just for conformity with US naming style is the right way to go. It will simply increase confusion. --Ragib (talk) 18:40, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. Another thing, has Bangladesh Medical Research Council anything to do with these colleges. Id so, we can mention it in the introductory paragraph. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 03:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Ekram Ahmed Lenin
[edit]Can you please retrieve this page of "Ekram Ahmed Lenin" from deletion ? Your single comments made it deletion. I am really getting less hope and lost my faith to Wikipedia because peoples here work as administrator who delete the articles without justify it. The writer ""Ekram Ahmed Lenin"" has written seven books in Bangladesh and I am trying to include him in Wikipedia. Wikipedia team may ask me for resources for verification or give me scope to bring those proof they required. I should not write or contribute anything from today either it is not resolved. Please solve it. Mrkshahin (talk) 18:38, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- The article was deleted through proper process. You have not provided any references supporting the subject's notability. (not surprising, since anyone can pay to publish 7 non notable books ... that alone doesn't make one notable). You had a week to add supporting materials. Even in your last edit, you didn't add anything that shows even the minimal coverage on the subject in third party sources. --Ragib (talk) 18:43, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Not everything you get proof in Website. Bangladesh is still developing country. He has published his books and those books was selected for "Boi-Mela" fair (A yearly fair for BOOKS through Bangla Academy). Tell me what exactly you want to see as proof for his Biography ?Mrkshahin (talk) 19:12, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Don't make me laugh out loud by claiming Bangladeshi authors have no coverage :). I know plenty of self-published authors who regularly pay to publish their books in Ekushey Boi mela each year. "Selected" !!! oh please!! Don't try to misguide others with this false claim. You even claimed earlier that Mr. Lenin is as famous as Sharat Chandra or Zafar Iqbal sir ... that's an amazingly false claim. For notability proof that is needed, please refer to wikipedia's policies. --Ragib (talk) 19:23, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- He is not self published author who pay to publish. Do you think that what you mean !! I don't think that you are living in Bangladesh. He is not such people that you consider because he already has nice position as joint secretary of Bangladesh Government.Don't try to make anyone false. Oh yes that(Sharat Chandra) was my fault because I used the template code of Humayun Ahmed. I corrected it later on. Zafar Iqbal is the writer of Children books and Mr. Lenin is also. Zafar Iqbal sir is my direct teacher and his wife Dr. Yesmine was my supervisor and I know them very well. I am requesting to attend to the meeting of Bangladeshi writers and proof yourself that he is false writer. Tell me the date and time; I would call invite them. Also tell me whom do you want to meet there? Mrkshahin (talk) 20:03, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Rather than arrange an inquisition, why don't you spend the time finding references from reliable third party sources, that show the author's notability? :) That will be much easier. As a rule of thumb, if you have to go to these lengths to "prove" someone is notable, then there is high chance that he isn't. Finally, I'm quite familiar with Bangladeshi literature scene, so don't try to pull the wool on my eyes. --Ragib (talk) 20:09, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- See the reliable third party sources 1.Amrao Pari 2. মহানায়ক
pls see the address in url and verify it from Bangla Academy either he is false writer or not: A. Amrao pari B. Black Daimond C. Jollad D. Nanarokom Golpo E. Shundorbon Ovijan If Bangla Academy, Bangladesh make it false notable; I would nothing to say. Mrkshahin (talk) 21:27, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Honestly, you need to take some time to read WP:RS. I asked you for real sources ... not online book publisher catalogues. Also not facebook pages. Boi-mela.com and dailymatebd.com are both book seller websites, and if I pay to publish a book today, both of this will gladly list that there. So, stop wasting my and everyone's time with your repeated conspiracy theories and go find some real sources. --Ragib (talk) 03:05, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- You are also misinterpreting my request for references. No one is doubting that Mr. Lenin published seven books. However, mere writing and publishing seven books does not make one a notable person (books can be self-published). Authors need to satisfy notability criteria such as significant coverage in multiple reliable sources, recognition via notable awards etc. --Ragib (talk) 03:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Political families of Bangladesh Citations
[edit]Hi Ragib, Good to know you from Sachalayatan and the web. I want to add citations but don't know how to add external sources such as digital copies of the "Sanad" charter granted by the Mughal Emperor Akbar and Lawrence Hastings to my forefathers. I have a digitized copy of this charter in jpg format in Flickr but I don't know how to add it. May be you can help out this ignorant Zamindar...LOL. By the way, can we connect through LinkedIn to get to know each other better? I sent you an invitation recently. Best Wishes, Irad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.208.194.118 (talk) 22:31, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- References need to be from reliable sources. For example, if a notable book from a reputable author/publisher supports the charter or mentions it, that suffices, rather than the digital copy of the charter (which is less preferable since it is a primary source). You can get more information on this at WP:REF. You can also find a citation tool at the top of each edit box ... click on that and then on "templates" to select the type of citation you want to add. Hope this helps. By the way, you should sign up with a user account rather than editing from anonymous IPs. --Ragib (talk) 22:35, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Reversion of Ranking of the Page
[edit]Hi Ragib, Just curious about the problem of assessing this page for a higher ranking. The purpose of the talk page is to discuss this and I have noticed a previous admin (see history) not doing that and reverting the post with respect to this practice. Also, vandalism has occured when anonymous poster tried to post the Chowdhury Family of Chittagong before the Shere Bangla and Sheikh Mujib family. This admin named Alex reverted my correction of that as well. He has no local knowledge and should stay off this article and let the local admins like Aditya and you do it. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arthonitibid (talk • contribs) 17:11, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- As you are talking about me, lets answer. Local knowledge is not needed to follow policy. You made a mess of the talk page and it had to be cleaned up by me, then again by Ragib. You insist on "assessing the page for a higher ranking" as you put it. As you noticed the rankings are maintained by the WikiProject Bangladesh. As of this writing you are not a member of it, so don't you think it would be proper to ask the project how they want to rate a page, instead of unilaterally changing it yourself? Even in the case you strongly feel the article should be ranked higher in their scale, and going ahead and changing it yourself, you still should do it properly. If you do not know how, please ask in the Talk page and somebody will come out and help you. Now for the more serious stuff; you added unreferenced controversial information about living persons on User talk:128.86.145.179 which had to be removed. It is a core policy of Wikipedia not to do defamation. Unless you have verifiable, sources for your accusations, please do not post them as they will be promptly removed and may lead to a block on your account. Also, please remember to sign your posts in Talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 20:36, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

- Hi. Your changes had to be reverted, because you are doing them technically incorrectly - I have explained some of it on your Talk page. We have a specific mechanism for moving articles to different titles, and we'll need to request that - I'll do some checking and will set up the request if I think it's correct. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:24, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to see further proof that his name is spelled that way. The site you mentioned above is not his personal site, rather a site set up by a foundation. I have no problem in moving properly to the correct spelling, if supported with references. --Ragib (talk) 17:28, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- I've commented further at User talk:Rossi101 - Google quite strongly supports the "Mazharul Islam" spelling by 26,000 hits to 1,760. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:34, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- I have opened a discussion at Talk:Mazharul Islam, which is the correct place for an article content discussion - can we please continue there. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:49, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hi again. Just to let you know that after a bit more searching, I think it's clear that "Muzharul Islam" is the correct name, so I've requested a move at Talk:Mazharul Islam. (As there is a redirect in the way, it will need an admin to do it.) If you agree or disagree with the request, please add a comment there to "Support" or "Oppose" the move -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:26, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Bangladesh Culture Parallel Cinema
[edit]Ragib You reverted my edits to Bangladesh page under Culture with note "needs reference and IMDB is not reference". However the items I added were names of parallel film movement leaders Tareque Masud, Tanvir Mokammel, Morshedul Islam, Yasmine Kabir, etc. Only Yasmine's link was IMDB, the rest were links to these directors' pages on Wiki. In addition, there was a reference to Dhallywood, also with link to Wiki. Why would the Wiki pages not count as reference? Of course I can link to newspaper articles about each of these directors, but I thought the Wiki page would be more accepted. Thanks in advance for your reply. Shilpakala (talk) 19:39, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Shilpakala
- Ragib, Saw your note on my talk page and agree that the names of the directors are better suited to the Bangladesh Cinema page. However, I believe that there should be a reference to parallel cinema on this page, and then link over to Bangladesh Cinema page (I'll leave it to you to add it as you see fit). And a reference to Dhallywood should also be added. Shilpakala (talk) 21:31, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Shilpakala

Bagha Jatin
[edit]How are you ? Busy with a few other projects, I have been away from the Wikipedia activities. Published a new biography of Bagha Jatin in English with the National Book Trust (New Delhi) and my French thesis for the DLit on INTELLECTUAL ROOTS OF INDIA'S FREEDOM MOVEMENT (1893-1918) has been brought out by a publisher in Paris. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Bengali entry on Bagha Jatin. Except the passage that after knowing Sri Aurobindo in 1903, Jatin started his physical education programme. And the importance given to M.N. Roy at this junsture (in 1903 he was hardly 16 and, even in later years he looked upon Jatin as his mentor, AND NOT THE OTHER WAY). All the best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BobClive (talk • contribs) 14:14, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Hunterian transliteration for Bengali - a way to end the OR issue
[edit]Hope you're enjoying your wikibreak but thought I would leave this here just in case you're back soon. Could you please engage on the Bengali script talkpage on a comment I left there. The Wiki standard is definitely OR and should be replaced (I know there was painful consensus behind it). However, I feel that virtually all of it will survive intact as non-OR by linking it to Hunterian transliteration, which was shockingly uncovered in Wikipedia though it is the fundamental fabric on which most Indic transliteration has been built over the past 150 years or so. I am doing this for Hindi-Urdu as well. --Hunnjazal (talk) 21:39, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Bengali Calendar
[edit]Ragib, I don't why are you removing the link of the Bengali Calendar of Viswayan from the external link. It was me who added that without logging in. The Bangla calendar which is provided as an external link is the calendar used in Bangladesh. But I think that there must be another link for the calendar used in India. We Indians have nothing to do with the reconstructed calendar of Bangladesh. Since we mostly follow the Gregorian calendar the usage of Bengali calendar is low. But for all Government departments, newspapers and periodicals and also for religious purposes wherever Bengali dates are applicable we use our traditional calendar. We have no connection with the Bangladeshi calendar. So please consider to keep that calendar as an external link. -Trinanjon Basu (talk) 07:55, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. I can't read Bengali but bn:উইকিপিডিয়া:Bureaucrats seems to indicate you might be the only user with bureaucrat status on that wiki. Am I right? If not, could you please direct me to the proper venue?
I'm trying to get a unified account, because apparently some of my edits are being imported at other wikis and then effectively hijacked by whatever random holder of the account there (that's what happened on de:). However, bn:ব্যবহারকারী:Joy, a bot operated by User:Jayantanth, stands in the way - I would need to usurp the same name over there (and at bn wikisource, presumably affecting the same person) before unifying my account. Here are the overviews of the situation: [1] [2].
I have asked the stewards to help last year, but the request was rejected as being too generic for them to handle.[3] I proceeded to ask Jayantanth about the matter[4], but got no reply either to e-mail or to the user talk message.
IMHO renaming a secondary bot account in favor of a real user account doesn't seem like too much to ask. A simple one letter difference should suffice.
Could you please lend a hand? Thanks in advance. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 20:08, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm the admin of Bengali Wikipedia. However, you need to sort this out with the operator of the Bot. Since Jayantnath is active mainly on Bengali wikipedia, perhaps you can leave a message at bn:User talk:Jayantanth? Thanks. --Ragib (talk) 02:38, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

- That's great, thanks. Can you also rename it at bnwikisource please? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 09:55, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

On Jana Gana Man Font Size
[edit]In Jana Gana Mana article introduction I removed "bold" tag and added "big" tag. I dislike "bold" tag use unnecessarily. And I do not have any personal opinion on "Big", but, "Big" tag is common in use for Bengali pronunciation in Wikipedia and have been used in many other articles.
What do you think?
Thanks!
--Tito Dutta (Talk) 14:42, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- The big tag is completely unnecessary. Unless your browser is misconfigured (assuming you are using an old version of Windows XP with the broke Vrinda font), there is no reason you need to increase your font size to see Bengali text. No, Big tag is not a common thing for Bengali or any other text in Wikipedia, rather it results from a few users not fixing their own browsers. I have no opinion on bold tag ... I don't see the reason for having that as well. We can just use {{lang-bn}} for the Bengali text in the intro sentence. Hope this helps explain my edit. --Ragib (talk) 14:50, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I too think only {{lang-bn|শব্দ}} is perfect. Thanks! --Tito Dutta (Talk) 15:00, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Ragib, confused about this cat. It consists of people who lived even before Bangladesh as a country came to exist. Do you think the category is a valid/necessary one? Most other ABCian people of XYZian descent cats consist of people who hold/held ABC citizenship but were of XYZ birth/descent. I'm not sure we can say the same for Tagore (who died before either country came to exist) or SD Burman and so on. What are your thoughts? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 13:38, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- The category has big problems inherently. "Indian" is not an ethnicity, rather it's a nationality (or geographic association). There are hundreds of ethnic groups in India, and at best it can be thought as similar to the adjective "European" or "African".
- There are several issues here. First, there are some people who were born in the region now under Bangladesh. But after the partition of India in 1947, they went to Republic of India. For example, Sunil Gangopadhyay. They are clearly Indian people of Bangladeshi descent.
- However, with Tagore, the issue is not like that. Tagore was born and died during the British Raj. So, he can neither be marked as an Indian citizen (i.e., Citizen of the Republic of India) nor of Bangladesh. So, he should just be marked with his ethnicity, that is Bengali. --Ragib (talk) 19:48, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Nabinchandra Sen, a Bangladeshi?
[edit]Ragib, you have reverted my removal of Bangladeshi categories from the article Nabinchandra Sen. Nabinchandra Sen died in 1909, 62 years before the birth of Bangladesh. So how can he be a Bangladeshi? Regarding the usage of category 'Indians of Bangladeshi descent', you have admitted that people who have died before 1947 are neither citizens of the present Republic of India or Bangladesh. So going by your logic Nabinchandra Sen can't be a Bangladeshi. Therefore I am removing the Bangladeshi categories once again.
I agree with you that Nabinchandra Sen was not Bangladeshi. But I don't agree with you that he was not Indian. We have to keep in mind that even though the Republic of India was born on 1947, India as a geopolitical entity existed from the ancient times. The Europeans, the Arabs, the Persians and the Chinese all used the term India or its variants like Hind to refer to the Indian subcontinent. Even the official name of British India was Indian Empire. By this logic Ashoka, Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar all were Indians. See their articles. Therefore the people who were born in the Indian subcontinent and died before 1947 are also Indians. Therefore Nabinchandra Sen is also an Indian. BengaliHindu (talk) 09:29, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi! I'm curious, I came across a couple of your pages on NPP, where you patrolled for copyright. I'm mostly curious, though, is there a reason you favor copyright investigation instead of {{db-g12}}? --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 10:04, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Dennis, in general, I favor copyvio tag when the topic is notable but the article content has copyrighted text. That is, if there is hope that the article can be salvaged by removing the copyvio text, I go for copyvio rather than db-g12. But that's speaking in general. Thanks for your comment. --Ragib (talk) 15:21, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi Ragib. I will accept your knowledge of Bangladeshi nationality law but suspect something must be left out either in that article or in Khan's. Bangladeshi nationality law says that "Bangladesh law grants citizenship to a person whose father or grandfather was born in the territories now comprised in Bangladesh and who was a permanent resident of such territories on 25 March 1971 and continues to reside there", but Khan was a permanent resident of the US and had been naturalized in 1967, so that wouldn't cover him as written (unless it means that the father or grandfather must have still been residents, in which case it is not very clearly written). I suspect it had something to do with his support for the Bangladesh Liberation War but it would be good to fill in that gap. Dual citizenship is always a tricky issue, especially when there are multiple changes of government during a person's lifetime. I do want to make sure the dual citizenship is properly documented in his article, as good documentation always helps the stability of details in the article. Best regards, Yworo (talk) 00:39, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview
[edit]Dear Ragib,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Bengali poetry needs indefinite semi-protection.
[edit]Ragib vy, Bengali poetry is subject to persistent vandalism. Everyday a lot of unregistered users edit the page and add a lot of trash to it. So please, protect it from vandalism. And please, check the page Wikipedia:IPA for Bengali; I have opened it, put all the Bengali sounds and their English equivalents exemplified with words. Anyway I will exemplify them with Bengali words too. But why doesn't it work when I try to show Bengali pronunciations in articles? It shows template errors then; I do not know why. Please, check it if you have time. -- Smmmaniruzzaman (talk) 15:06, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

At some point in the past WPHolidays was made into an official subproject of WP:X (see [Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Christianity Wikiprojects]). There are many intersections between the projects. E.g. WPHolidays uses the WP:X banner {{WPChristianity}}, WPHolidays is part of the Christianity noticeboard WT:XNB. There is an initiative to update all of the subproject main pages, WPHolidays included. Not to diminish your experience one iota, but, we have worked hard to minimize complaints and have been very successful in quickly responding and making sure everyone's needs are addressed. Please let me know if I can do anythign else for you. – Lionel (talk) 23:47, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of Platinum Suites wiki page
[edit]I saw your post on deleting the Platinum Suites wiki page because it is not considered of 'special significance'. I would like to know from where you got the proof of this hotel not being notable in the Bangladesh media. If you haven't checked any of the newspapers, magazines or tourism newspapers, please I'd advise you to do so. Online references are also there in the wiki page that you can check out if you havent already.
I'll admit that it is a small hotel in Banani but it is notable in most of the media publications. There are other small hotels like ours in Bangladesh but ours is an enterprise of Sheltech which counts for something. There are many Platinum Suites around the world (please do check on the internet), though they are not chain hotels of ours, we need to separate the Bangladesh one with the rest of them. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here.
Please do read through the newspapers more often if you haven't already. Also make sure your personal opinion of the hotel does not interfere with other comments.

Copyright problems
[edit]I'm trying to clean up some of the entries at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. One of the entries in August 21 is an article you started, Abbas Uddin. There is a clear overlap between the article and this page. However, you started the article in 2005. While Wayback has snapshots going back before 2005, they were generally under construction pages until around 2008, leading to the strong possibility that they copied our article, rather than the other way around.
Do you have anything to add which would help us close this issue?--SPhilbrick(Talk) 19:57, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Image rename for "Dhanmondi Delight"
[edit]Thanks for adding this image to Wikimedia Commons. I have two small suggestions. First, the description should mention Sher-e-Khwaja not Sher-e-Khawja (it should be "wa" and not "aw"). http://sher-e-khwaja.com/ Second, I think it would be advisable to change the name of the file from "Dhanmondi Delight" to "Chistia Palace", which is the name that the Sher-e-Khwaja uses on the website to refer to this structure. It would be fine to include "Dhanmondi Delight" in the description, but I believe that the file name should be more encyclopedic: clearer, more straightforward, even if that name "Chistia Palace" isn't as colorful as "Dhanmondi Delight". As I am not the author of this file, I'm not able to make these edits. What do you think about them? Interlingua 01:36, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

- I don't see any big overlap between this article and the one from Banglapedia. I could only find one or two paragraphs that overlap with Banglapedia, can you please point out the specific text that is common to both articles? Thanks. --Ragib (talk) 18:59, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- The texts have diverged somewhat since your original posting, as others have contributed their own additions and revisions. The overlaps you noticed are probably the same ones I did: some sentences from the third and fourth paragraphs of the Banglapedia article remain in more or less the same form in the Wikipedia article. Besides this, however, earlier versions of the Wikipedia article which more closely duplicate the Banglapedia text should probably have revdel applied. —Psychonaut (talk) 19:21, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Copyright problem: ILLIAC
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from ILLIAC I, ILLIAC II, ILLIAC III, and ILLIAC IV into ILLIAC. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to make a note in an edit summary at the source page as well. It would be helpful if you could provide attribution for this duplication, and for any other cases you are aware of, even if they were a long time ago. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. —Psychonaut (talk) 13:38, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
CCI Notice
[edit]Hello, Ragib. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Contributor copyright investigations concerning your contributions in relation to Wikipedia's copyrights policy. The listing can be found here. For some suggestions on responding, please see Responding to a CCI case. Thank you. Psychonaut (talk) 14:00, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- The apparent copyright violations which were discovered were quite old. However, they're too numerous for one person to process efficiently, so I've opened this CCI case. I want to assure you that this is in no way meant to embarrass you; it's only to get some extra pairs of eyes and hands involved in cleaning up, and to avoid cluttering your talk page with further copyvio templates. —Psychonaut (talk) 14:08, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Allow me to explain. This was 7 years ago, and at that time there were few content related to Bangladesh on Wikipedia. However, we had a nationally funded encyclopedia (Banglapedia) published by the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. Back in 2005, I initiated a discussion with Asiatic Society to get their content released to Wikipedia under GFDL. As these talks were going on, I had seeded a few articles from text from Banglapedia, and had then paraphrased or rewrote the text in my own words, and cited back to the corresponding Banglapedia article as reference. If you look at the evolution of several articles (not the ones listed above), you can see the workflow. However, for some articles, it seems that I have missed paraphrasing or rewriting them. If you are looking to identify more of such possible articles, I suggest you look at the ones written in summer 2005 timeframe. I will do my own search and actively assist in rewriting the articles to remove copyright issues. Thanks. --Ragib (talk) 18:52, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information and your kind offer of assistance; this should help us narrow down the search space. —Psychonaut (talk) 19:23, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 6
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2013 Bangladesh riots, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Daily Star (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free media (File:50paisa.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:50paisa.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 05:38, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Faizan Al-Badri. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Mukti Bahini without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry: I restored the removed content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Faizan (talk) 11:52, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- The content you removed was sourced. Faizan (talk) 11:53, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- It was poorly sourced from a non-RS, and I had clearly mentioned that in my edit summary. The only reliable source you used was badly misquoted here. --Ragib (talk) 08:53, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
