The Yellow Wallpaper film
Dear Tokyogirl79. Many years have gone by since your last post regarding an article which you deleted for lack of references. Thank you for the incredible amount of depth to which you went to at the time in writing the response. Is there a way to 'draft a new article' with correct references for this film. There are more written references now that we are in 2018. Or is it possible to draft an article somewhere and have you review it? From what you wrote at the top of the talkpage it looked like it was just a badly written article but there were enough references... I think. But after that it looked like you wanted to keep the page deleted. When you type in the film now there are numerous references (I believe) on Wikipedia since so many years have gone by and more articles and references have been created (again, I think there are.. you would know better than I). What do you suggest about re-writing an article that will pass muster? Is this something you could do with your expertise? I mean if I sent you the proper amount of references, etc. Then perhaps you could evaluate it to see if the film now falls under notability guidelines? Any suggestions you have would be helpful. After re-reading your response on my talkpage (over and over), I think I understand everything you were saying at the time you responded. This was back in 2014 though. - Hmm... Atafirst, one of the best ways to go about this would be to create a draft in your userspace or in the draftspace - I could restore the version and move this to your userspace, if you like and as long as Missvain is OK with this. (You'd need to get her OK with this to a degree since she closed the AfD.) That will give you something to work from.
- The main issue with the article was actually the sourcing, since many of the sources at that point in time were self-published blogs, which Wikipedia typically doesn't count as reliable sources. There's a Library Journal review on the book's article, which is a step in the right direction, but we'd need more sourcing offhand. One thing to make sure to be careful about is that the film doesn't inherit notability from its cast or the source material, which can often be very frustrating when you have films with major casts. I've tried protesting this to a degree, mostly with books, but it's pretty much impossible to go backwards or ease up notability guidelines on here. It took a fairly big discussion to even get bestseller lists like the New York Times counted as a source towards notability (sigh).
- In any case, with any sourcing it's a good idea if there are any concerns over them, to run them through WP:RS/N, the noticeboard for reliable sources. If something is seen as usable there, it's most likely golden since you can point towards that if anyone argues against it. Tokyogirl79 (｡◕‿◕｡) 01:40, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

Kami-Con
Hi, I need some help at the Kami-Con. I cannot revert the edits anymore, but a user refuses to cite attendance figure updates. I don't know if this user is convention staff or not, so I can't tell if any sources will ever report those figures. Wrong teacher
I was never consulted in this. Which teacher did you consult? I'd be curious to read that discussion. I am aware there was a different class working on digital divide articles, but SK one as done by a different class (mine). - @Piotrus: Sorry about that! I had a bunch of different students working on DD articles in this class and one of the students had it listed as the article they were working on. There were so many pages that I had to merge and redirect from with the class that I didn't look at the page history to see that they hadn't created or edited it. Long story short, the students in the class had been putting out work that had a lot of issues with things like tone, redundancy, original research, and the like. It had been brought up at ENB and I ended up having a discussion with the educator, where I suggested creating one large page where most of the work would be merged and redirected to. He was amenable to that, so I'd gotten to work on the page once the semester was over. Some of the students who hadn't moved their work live instead added it to the draft I had in my userspace at the time, but most moved their work. It kind of just got caught up in everything. If you want to un-redirect it that's cool - I didn't realize that there was another class out there that had been working on these. ReaderofthePack (｡◕‿◕｡) 16:25, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- First, let me thank you for the hard work fixing student mistakes. I try my best to control my students, but sometimes it is hard, and the help that other volunteers provide is always very welcome. And missing this the fact that this one article was worked on by a different class is totally understandable. The article my students created is not perfect, and some sections could use a rewrite, but I'd appreciate your thoughts on whether it can be restored as a stand alone, or whether you think the current merge preserves all useful info (I think the merge removed at least one table, among some other sections, through some of them that just re-explain what DD is were redundant anyway). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:29, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Piotrus! Thank you for understanding! When I moved the page I ended up removing the section that covered the history of Internet in South Korea, as I was worried about that being too redundant to the article on Internet in South Korea. It looks like I also removed the section about open software, but I'm not entirely sure why I did that now. The other parts I didn't add were the lead paragraph and the first section about the drawbacks, which I seem to remember not adding because it was too similar to the overall drawbacks of the digital divide.
- I think that it works well in the main article, but then I don't see any reason why this couldn't be restored with some tweaking here and there to tighten the content and reduce the redundancy. There are some statements here and there that need to be re-written like "Participation is the spinal cord of open source software.", but overall I thought the writing was good - I copied a lot of it verbatim to the main article. [Seasick Steve]

Although I no longer edit I still hugley enjoy reading Wikipedia articles. In 2016 an unauthorised biography came out about the artist [Seasick Steve] which instantly started a edit war with some editors trying to rewrite the page based on this book. There was alot of contentious editing at the time and I saw that you issued a page protection around then. I have not been to the page in a very long time but was alittle shocked to see that there is still editing being done based apparently,solely on the unauthorised biography. I saw today that at the top of the article next to the cited name and age an editor has put another name and age. As far as I can tell there was no citation. The only source that I can find, saying this may have been Seasick Steve's name at one time, is the unauthorised biography which as far as I understand is not a source in the Wikipedia guidlines. Im my opinion, this just makes the page confusing. Even if that was Seasick Steve's name at one time it certainly isn't anymore. It seem to me like going to a married women's Wikipedia page and putting in her possible, maiden name (uncited) just because. I just don't see the pupose. Sorry - won't mark the article for deletion again. I did, however, remove the deletion before anyone - because I checked the policy (and I can't delete pages that I don't like, but rather only mark the articles for deletion if they are not worthy of being a Wikipedia page). Before I nominate an article for deletion again, I will go over the policy to ensure its worthy of deletion - in order to avoid any hassle for somebody having to recreate a usefull page, and wasting admin time.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). - Hi Turbojet! I think submitting it through AfC would be the best idea in this situation since the article had been deleted so many times in the past. New Category Request
Hi. Quick question. I needed guidance on creation of a new WP category entitled "List of Coroner Offices in the United States." I know it sounds like a large project, that's why I checked in before getting started. Any suggestions?

- Hi Habatchii - creating the category itself is actually pretty easy, although I'd suggest that the category title be "Coroner offices" for now and later make a subcategory called "Coroner offices in the United States". The reason for this is that unless there's a large enough amount of entries for coroner offices in various countries, there's no true need to have as specific a category. I'd leave the term "list" off since the term in the category would imply that the linked pages would be list pages as opposed to entries.
- I'm assuming, however, that you're referring to the physical buildings as opposed to the position itself? If you're talking about the position, then it looks like the current way that the positions are categorized is under the country specific category for coroners, such as Category:British coroners, Category:Coroners of New York City, or Category:American coroners. If you want to change the way that the category is styled, you'd need to bring this up at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. ReaderofthePack (｡◕‿◕｡) 15:57, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi -
I was going to link to the A. Robert Lee article from something else I was editing, and noticed that it was PROD'ed and is now protected. Not sure what happened as the linked discussion seems not to exist any more. Anyway, Lee is genuinely wiki-worthy - huge numbers of critical works with university and commercial presses, first academic in Britain to do serious critical work on Beat Generation writers, Native American writers, etc. Would you consider removing the protection so I could put the article together again? - @Turbojet: @K.e.coffman: - I'm a little worried about the tone since it does seem a little like a promotional/marketing biography, but it doesn't seem to be intentional. Essentially, parts of this come across as a little bit of a love letter to Vianu. She's definitely accomplished a lot and offhand she does seem absolutely notable but comments like these are definitely non-neutral in tone:
- In short, Vianu has done everything in her power to acquaint her students with the writers of their generation, and also to support Romanian writers, who need to be translated and to confront themselves with an international audience.
- which has appealed since then to a large number of enthusiastic students.
- This sentence is a little borderline. It's not promotional per se, but it's a little similar to how marketing is written. It just needs to be rephrased:
- T.S. Eliot's work has been her lifelong interest.
- Also make sure that you avoid any point of view phrases like "well-known", since that's kind of subjective to the reader. One may be familiar with Sandulescu, where another person may not be or believe that he may not be as readily known as that. Ultimately it's something that comes across as a judgement call.
- I don't necessarily think that there's any conflict of interest here, but since I know that there may be others who would ask this I do want to note that if there is a conflict of interest here (you know Vianu, work with her, were hired or otherwise asked to write it, or so on) it needs to be mentioned per WP:COI guidelines. - Thank you for your attention. I do not know Mrs Vianu personally. I was asked via "info [at] wikipedia.ro" why the article was deleted and I was the one who replied (poor sourced). I and Mrs Vianu work in different universities, from different cities and different specializations, she in the literary field, and I in the technical. We have no collaborations. Writing articles about people is a common activity for me, see Biografii.
- The article about it is a translation of the article from Romanian Wikipedia. I admit that I took some formulations from the previous variants, my bad. I made the changes you proposed. I will review the text, but I do not master English very well. I understand that here the tone of the articles can be improved by Copy Editors. This still needs editing, but I think that since language is a barrier here and there's been a good faith attempt to clean up the prose, it isn't unreasonable to move the page in the hopes that others can help with the article if K.e.coffman is willing to accept it now. From what I can see on the article, Vianu looks to be notable. My only note would be to make sure to add more non-primary sourcing to the article (content not released by Vianu, her publishing company, and so on). Reviews of her work would definitely be good to add to the article, especially because it can help show whether or not her individual works would justify an article. - This is really flattering! Unfortunately, I'm not going to run. My current job with Wiki Education really takes up a lot of my time and to be honest, I'm not sure how it would be received if I ran considering that my job is so linked with Wikipedia editing. I'm not entirely sure that it wouldn't eventually pose a conflict of interest or be seen as one, but I may be a little too overly cautious in this regard. - I didn't realize you were currently working at Wiki Ed, but I don't see it as conflict-of-interest; other Arbs have made Wikipedia editing part of their required coursework as teachers/professors, via the Wiki Ed program. WikipedianiteTheKnight, I definitely recommend that you check out the WikiProject for video games, as they have an assessment section that lists out how many articles are of each quality level - the stub, start, and C class articles are good places to make edits and have them under your belt. I've noticed you've been granting the accountcreator right to a couple of users involved in outreach work, but this is no longer one of the valid use cases for granting accountcreator as of around May - it's now only supposed to be for those involved in the WP:ACC process. However, the tagging received some complaints about too many incorrectly place tags (see here). Some help in going through the categories to be used by the bot would be appreciated.
