Welcome![edit]

Hello, Lukeskrobot11, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page. If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Why are you so nice?[edit]

Everybody on Wikipedia is so nice and I have never been able to understand why. Everybody is so welcoming. I thought this was the internet? I had always thought that everybody on Wikipedia were like mad politically charged pranksters. Thank you for being so welcoming! Lukeskrobot11 (talk) 19:20, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) I assume from your comment on Jimfbleak's talk page that this was meant for him. Wikipedia editors know that collaboration is important. Acting like civilized adults rather than a "politically charged prankster" helps a lot with collaboration. By the way, there are more than enough politically charged pranksters and people who confuse Wikipedia with a game or a social media site to go around. If you stick around, you will run into them. Their edits mostly get reverted or deleted and if they are disruptive enough, they get blocked from editing or banned. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:51, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As davidwr says, this isn't social media, and admins like me have the ability to sanction people who persist in poor behaviour. If you want me to see a comment on this page, you should start it with my user name, User:Jimfbleak and sign it with four tildes ~~~~ when you post it. That will send me an alert (that's what David did above). Let me know if you need any help Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:32, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

October 2020: Removing Teahouse posts[edit]

As with user talk pages, non-admins must not removeTeahouse posts which have received responses.
Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.--Quisqualis (talk) 21:07, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

English varieties[edit]

Hi. At rev 986763659, you removed a {{Convert}} template from the article South Africa, replacing it with nearly the same result, except that you changed the spelling of "kilometres" to "kilometers". This is incorrect because we retain the existing variety of English in an article (i.e., use the same variety throughout), and the article uses South African English spelling. There's even this edit notice to that effect when you edit the page. I've reverted the change. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 07:12, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
