Nomination of King County Metro fleet for deletion

Request for Participation at WT: Airports

As you may be aware, there was a recent discussion on the talk page of WP:Airports which prematurely and without consensus resulted in mass changes to airport articles throughout Wikipedia. Before a drastic change like this is put into practice, it is important to have clear consensus, which from my readings as an observer, did not occur. Many of these changes started to occur before any real discussion had taken place, and despite much disagreement from some community members. Disagreement is good -- it's great actually -- without it nothing would ever get done. But it's important that everyone opinions are heard fairly and accurately, and that significant changes like merging the Regional Airline destinations with the Mainline destinations are not done without such consensus. I encourage you, as someone involved in WP:Airports and the original discussion, to voice your opinions and discuss with others about how we should move forward at this point. Positive and constructive conversation is the way to a consensus. I also ask that everyone (myself included) ceases merging or un-merging mainline/regional destinations until a censuses is reached. Hello, recently FR30799386 was blocked for sock puppetry. The left behind few of their scripts. DannyS712 has copied the scripts, and has taken over maintaining them. It appears that you currently importing an outdated version of import FR30799386's mobileUndo, and I thought that you might want to import an updated and maintained version. The outdated version you are currently importing has some bugs. Those bugs have been fixed by the original creator and DannyS712 synced their version of the script with it. Also FR is currently rewritting and updating this script on meta-wiki per this advice as well as adding new features. @Mackensen: It's been so long since I built that, I don't even remember the use case. It seems to date back to the brief period when Metro was branding the transitways, but before the Silver Line was established. @Pi.1415926535: The line is also north-south, by flipping it, we match the directionality of the Caltrain templates (at the San Jose and Santa Clara stations) and the San Joaquin templates (at the Stockton station). Question about 787-10 production location

@Allen2: The 787-10 variant has not been produced at Everett and will not be for the foreseeable future. If you read just slightly above the models on the Boeing Everett Factory article... there's this info: "Boeing announced that the 787-10 variant, the longest variant of the 787, would be produced exclusively in South Carolina as the fuselage pieces for that variant are too large for the Dreamlifter to fit for transport to Everett." Zip codes

ZIP codes are primarily for postal use, which is irrelevant for stations. Why should we clog up infoboxes - which are intended to present the most important information - with information that's not actually useful? I think we need a source for the claim in MI 09 too. Since most people call it the MI 09, the Z 8300 claim can be easily questioned. We will also need an article for Class Z 23000 if the MS 61 is to have any chance of being a Good Article here on en-wiki. --Minoa (talk) 12:48, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

eBART

Does anyone – i.e. reliable sources – actually refer to eBART as "light rail"?! APTA calls it "commuter rail". BART itself doesn't use the words "light rail" at its eBART page. So is anyone noteworthy actually calling the system this?! Or is this another case of Wikipedia editors deciding that something was the case without RS's backing it up?... (talk page stalker) I can't find any reliable sources that call it light rail. We definitely should be consistent about the similar diesel systems (eBART, River Line, Arrow, and Sprinter; arguably Capital MetroRail and WES Commuter Rail too). APTA and the agencies themselves aren't consistent: APTA calls Sprinter light rail and River Line commuter rail, while NJT brands the River Line as light rail.

My proposal would be to follow the FTA and classify them as hybrid rail. There's no perfect classification - some should probably appear on the list of commuter rail lines as well - but at least having a list of all of them together would be a useful start. I would have no problem with classifying these systems a "hybrid rail", though I'd like to see more than just one source from the FTA calling it that... But, from a purely objective standpoint, it's crazy that APTA calls the Sprinter (with 30 minute headways!!) First off, Pi.1415926535 you're always welcome to stalk my talk page. IJBall thanks for starting this conversation about very messy situation. On that page, I have been trying to reckon with what is "true" light rail and what is a "streetcar" (which is also arguably light rail).

The systems in question seem to be quasi-commuter rail, which could arguably be considered light rail since they use light equipment.

I like the hybrid rail title as defined by the FTA: "Rail System Primarily operating routes on the National system of railroads, but not operating with the characteristics of commuter rail. This service typically operates light rail-type vehicles as diesel multiple-unit trains (DMU's). These trains do not meet Federal Railroad Administration standards, and so must operate with temporal separation from freight rail traffic."

Or in layman's terms, a hybrid between light rail and commuter rail.

NCTD calls the Sprinter hybrid rail. BART hasn't bothered with a name, calling it a rail system that uses standard gauge track with Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) vehicles, but that seems to fit the hybrid rail definitions. I would also add TEXRail and the Silver Line (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) to our growing list, although I would exclude WES Commuter Rail, simply because it has such lousy hours. Geary BRT

I'll try to update the article when I have time, but here's a quick summary of Geary status. Phase 1 (Stanyan to Market) became Geary Rapid, which was just completed. From what I can tell, they will now spend the next year (or 10 years, this is Muni after all) converting the temporary bus lanes and bus bulbs to permanent versions. Right now there are only dedicated lanes from Stanyan to 15th Avenue, plus a few scattered blocks west of there; lanes in the 15th-25th section and other gaps are proposed as quick-build in 2022. The corridor is about 6.4 miles long. Right now, about 4.9 miles / 76% has dedicated transit lanes:

• 0.4 miles Outer Richmond + 1.0 mile 15th-Stanyan added by TETL in 2021
• 1.9 miles Stanyan-Van Ness added by Geary Rapid
• 1.0 mile Van Ness-Market added previously but painted red by Geary Rapid
• 0.6 miles Market-Transbay from other projects

About an additional 0.7 miles (15th-24th, plus a few infill blocks 25th to 34th) is proposed to be added in 2022 as a quick build. That portion plus the 2021-added lanes would be painted red in 2024-25 when utility and roadway work is finished. That will complete the dedicated lanes originally proposed as "Geary BRT"; dedicated lanes have never been planned west of 34th due to limited congestion. Hopefully that clarifies a bit! That does, but Muni never planned to build “true” BRT with off-board fare payment, TVMs, faregates, ect. Those things you mention, especially beyond 2022, seem like just more permanent work. The rapid routes are running, there’s dedicated lanes in the most congested parts of the route. I guess I just reasoned it was okay to make the changes to say that it was more or less running, but not fully complete. RickyCourtney (talk) 05:47, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

New Orleans downtown

In New Orleans, the term "downtown" is not necessarily equivalent to "central business district." "Downtown" and "uptown" are directions, equivalent to "downriver" and "upriver." So in discussing New Orleans, it is best to use "central business district" rather than "downtown" when that is the intended meaning. Please don't change to "downtown".
