Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Peter Ralston
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Peter Ralston, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of https://www.audible.com/author/Peter-Ralston/B001JRZFPS. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. – NJD-DE (talk) 18:38, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

I have made edits to the Peter Ralston wiki page draft in an attempt to resolve the issues presented.
What are my next steps?
Thank you in advance.
RinzaiRamana (talk) 01:12, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- The draft is already deleted.
- One way to avoid being considered promotional is to lead with the independent references that you think establish notability and summarize very briefly what they say. If that still looks promotional, you need to revise your idea of the kind of references that you should be looking for. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:26, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

The draft is gone, what next?

I am looking for some more clarity. The draft is now gone?
Does this mean I have to rewrite a new draft in a way that meets your standards?
Is there a way I can pre approve my drafts and make edits so that it has a chance of being accepted?
Regards.
RinzaiRamana (talk) 16:53, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, the draft is gone especially considering it was copyright infringement. You would definitely need to rewrite it should you wish to try to submit it again. (Also, I wouldn't call it rewriting if it seems you copied it in the first place.)
- As for the second part of your question, I'm not sure what you mean by "pre approve". Bsoyka (talk · contribs) 17:29, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, both your sandbox draft and the draftspace draft about Peter Ralston are deleted.
- There is no barrier to you creating a new draft. Just be sure that you've found some good sources that establish notability before you start. If you write by summarizing what those sources say, and keep the tone neutral, you will have a much better likelihood of getting the draft accepted.
- But creating a new article is one of the hardest things you could choose to do as a new Wikipedia editor. We often advise people to spend considerable time (2 months? 200 edits?) improving existing articles first. After that experience, creating a new article will still be difficult, but perhaps less frustrating.
- The draft process is already there so you can make a few mistakes and get corrections along the way.
- And, if you haven't looked at it already, I strongly suggest reading the advice at your first article. Good luck! — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 17:36, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

{{help me}} I have added code to my sandbox page for deletion since I no longer need it. Did I do it correctly?
