Welcome to Wiki Wednesday[edit]

Hi there! Thanks for joining the Wiki Wednesday team. There are plenty of articles to work on, and you're welcome to suggest more. If you have comments or suggestions about the project, you can leave them on its Talk page where we can all see and reply to them. If you want to ask me questions, you can leave a note on my own Talk page, starting a new section if need be, and I'll reply on yours, which keeps the conversation public Or just email me. Just to let you know we're switching for a while to lunchtime meetings for Wiki Wednesday. This week's one is at the Big Orange Cafe, 12:00, Wed 4th. Also don't forget about the Edit-a-thon on November 15th. It would be good to have some experienced Wikipedia editors around to help the beginners. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Robert Martin (International advocate) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 02:22, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Given by Rana Waitai for his Wikipedia page.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Given by Rana Waitai for his Wikipedia page.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:06, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Our group meets on Wednesday next week, will attend to this at the mtg.Riverviewhouse (talk) 02:26, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, we're having a winter break. Maybe leave a note on my Talk page or email me with the problem? Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 22:03, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Riverviewhouse, I see you're having a bit of trouble getting the reference formatting right but don't worry about it, I will fix it. If you just give the web link I will take care of the rest of the details. There is however a problem with the tvnz reference, when I try to open it the site says the page doesn't exist, to I tagged it as a dead link. If you could find the correct link I will also format it properly.

I'd also like to invite you to join WikiProject Disability if you're interested, we have lots of challenging (as well as easy) and interesting work there. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:38, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your input for Robert Martin's page, I located vidcam and he was very pleased too. I have added Robert to disability rights activist page, do you want to add some more to that entry? Haven't checked TV reference yet. Riverviewhouse (talk) 01:04, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Martin (disability rights activist), which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

License tagging for File:Photo of Rana Waitai provided for Wikipedia.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Photo of Rana Waitai provided for Wikipedia.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

File permission problem with File:Photo of Rana Waitai provided for Wikipedia.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Photo of Rana Waitai provided for Wikipedia.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:58, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on a page for Donald Trott, founder of the NZ Opera School, former pupil of Whanganui Collegiate.[edit]

I've hesitated .... should I do a page for NZ Opera School first?

Updating a page name ... how?[edit]

The Royal Wanganui Opera House is about to have a name change. Next week the Whanganui District Council is poised to change the name of the Opera House to, likely, Royal Whanganui Opera House. I'm looking forward to making changes within the page but can someone please guide me with changing the page name. Thank you. Riverviewhouse (talk) 03:20, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Moving a page.-gadfium 04:25, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! The council is expected to approve the change nest Tuesday. I'll follow "Moving a page" and hope it is straight forward. Riverviewhouse (talk) 23:13, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello from Feilding[edit]

Hi! My friend John Gillespie is visiting and thought I would be interested in your page.

I was born in Wanganui. Maybe we can compare notes some time.

Robin Patterson (talk) 01:29, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Robin, thank you and hello! I have seen John Gillespie today and it's good to have a visit to wikipedia again. My hometown is Ohura but my great grandparents were here in Whanganui for a time. What brought your parents here? J
