Re: Clyde Lewis

"Why do we need to distinguish from an individual without an article?" Uh, because he's notable, as evidenced by numerous reliable sources? Or are we content to push the fiction that notability is determined solely by what editors feel or don't feel like writing about, rather than how the real world views what is and isn't notable? Perhaps I have responsibilities in and to said real world, and therefore don't have the time to do all the necessary work all by myself to fill all these holes in coverage, which is what is boils down to. A shame, really, because coverage becomes skewed towards garbage hagiographies of people who happen to be "trending" right this moment or of folks who've hired a social media consultant to plaster their name all over the Internet. Don't try to deny that, as they exist on Wikipedia by the thousands. The very article which triggered this discussion is a good example of that. Hello, plz see WP:NOARTICLE: per Wikipedia guidelines, hatnotes are simply not intended to be used this way unless you are about to write the article, which you readily admit you are not. Secondly, I reject the implied premise that this fellow is inherently more notable or deserving of an article than Clyde Lewis, and feel that your claim that we propagate "the fiction that notability is determined solely by what editors feel or don't feel like writing about" is a strawman argument against the Wikipedia community as a whole. If this C.R. Lewis person were notable, the article on him may develop organically from the community as 5 million+ others have, or you can always take matters into your own hands (though at least from web based searching, all I could find is WP:ROUTINE coverage of one event, a 1974 congressional campaign). I won't "try to deny that... garbage hagiographies of people who happen to be "trending" right this moment or of folks who've hired a social media consultant to plaster their name all over the Internet... exist on Wikipedia by the thousands.", but that is neither here nor there. Lastly, all sourcing I could find on this guy refers to him as "C.R." not Clyde, so I don't really think it would be necessary to distinguish the two, but I'll admit I did react to it because it just looked really awkward with the "C(lyde)" and redlink, so sorry if I ruffled your feathers a bit...
