SY Nahlin
[edit]SY Nahlin
[edit]The Robertson and Sons wiki piece refers to the SY Nahlin as being built by the company. I have found this vessel from the correct period, but it is indicated to have been built by another firm.

SY Nahlin's TENDER
[edit]The entry indicates the TENDER was built at Robertson's Yard, not the S Y Nahlin (which was built at J Brown's on the Clyde)
Robertson's Yard specialised in building tenders (motor boats, lifeboats, owners motor launch, sailing dinghies etc) for larger yachts/ships (over 120 ft) which were usually constructed in the big shipyards further up the Clyde.
This luxurious 28ft LOA teak plank carvel motor launch was built to special order for the designer, at a cost of £246 7s 1d. This was logged as Robertson Boat 40 in the build ledger, and indicates that this was Mr G L Watson's last design. The company of Messrs G L Watson and Co went on to design many other boats.

SY Nahlin's TENDER Correction
[edit]Copied the info for the wrong tender
Robertson's Yard Boat No 186. 30', 6 ton, Owner's Motor Launch: double skin mahogany; 2 cabins; electric lighting; 35 bhp Thornecroft engine. Built for the Steam Yacht Nahlin, owned by Lady Yule of Glasgow. The 296' SY Nahlin was built in 1930 by John Brown & Co Clydebank and designed by G L Watson & Co. They also supplied a Crew's Tender, which was boat No 187.

File permission problem with File:Alexander Robertson.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Alexander Robertson.jpg, which you've sourced to Archibald Robertson. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. [edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Robertsons Yard 1936.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Robertsons Yard 1936.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi, I want to make sure that the copyright status of this item has been properly documented. Was this image ever published like in a book (or otherwise having copies distributed)? Or was it only kept with an original in a family photo album? Also, where was the photo taken? (Scotland?) And where was it published, if anywhere? Thanks, Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:48, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
This matter was discussed at length with a Permissions Editor before the photograph was restored on 27 March 2016, so I was under the impression the matter had been resolved. The date of the photograph is December 1895 and I believe it was taken in my great-grandfather's office in his boatyard at Sandbank, Argyll, Scotland. This photograph from the family album was published on page 42 of the June 2008 issue of Classic Boat Magazine. (Robertsonsyard (talk) 22:17, 26 May 2016 (UTC)).

[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of File:Jeano Rob Yard.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Jeano Rob Yard.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. [edit]Thanks for uploading File:Jeano abc.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Orphaned non-free image File:Tritonia Jeano.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Tritonia Jeano.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:53, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
Hello Robertsonsyard, since images should not be squeezed between the text, I extended the wikitable and added 1 image + description. What to you think? Lotje (talk) 12:29, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Hello Lotje,
It is extremely unlikely more boat photos will be added due to complicated copyright regulations in Wikipedia. The insertion of a photo in the table only makes the Wikipedia page untidy and highlights the fact that not many photos are available. ON BALANCE I WOULD DELET THE PHOTOS IN THE TABLE. Thanks for trying to help. David Robertsonsyard (talk) 12:36, 7 March 2021 (UTC).
