Hi there -
thanks for the reply.
I merely tried fixing an error with the current wikipedia entries regarding the Dragonlance comics publications
As it turns out, there were 3 different publications with that name, as my draft details:
1. Dragonlance Saga - a TSR Graphic Novel (1987) by Rot Thomas
2. Dragonlance Comics - by DC comics
3. Dragonlance chronicles - by DDP (Devil's Due Publication) ocmis
The only exiting wikipedia entry is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonlance_(comics) which leads not to the original publications form 1987 by TSR, but rather to a DC comics spin-off.
Moreover, in the wiki page for the writer of the 1987 publication, Roy Thomas here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Thomas - has an error. the link to the dragonlance comic in the references of that page, redirects the above Dragonlance_(comics) page - which wasn't written by him at all.
In addition, the Dragonlance comics publication from 2005 by DDP (Devil's Due Publications - when the property was no longer TSR but purchased by Wizards of The Coast / Hasbro) is not mentioned anywhere on wikipedia.
I'm not really a comics expert, I just happened to notice these errors and inaccuracies and wanted to create some simple page for the saga publication so i can fix the erroneous ref at the Roy Thomas page, and also create links to the DC publication existing page and to the non-existing page for the DDP publication, in hope someone else will come along and expand them in the future.
If I don't have enough knowledge to write a full article, is it better we do nothing and keep wikipedia erroneous like this?
please let me know what you think,
thanks again for the quick reply Robot55 (talk) 20:25, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi and thanks for seeing a possible issue and attempting to rectify. I see that you did fix the issue on Roy Thomas pointing to the wrong Dragonlance. This type of mistake happens a lot but gets fixed by people like you. I would note that using edit summaries to explain does help stop people reverting again if they don't understand. So as for you question "is it better we do nothing and keep wikipedia erroneous like this" with regard to fixing errors on existing articles as you have, no it is better to fix either by changing or removing incorrect info. As for Draft:Dragonlance Saga (graphic Novel) you don't have to be able to write a full-article just enough content for a stub article with enough sources to show notability. All new articles on Wikipedia have to show the subject is notable (See WP:N) which in most cases requires significant coverage (WP:SIGCOV) in multiple independent (WP:INDY) reliable sources (WP:RS). It's not an area I'm familiar with but you could try asking for help/advice at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics or in a more general help forum like Wikipedia:Teahouse.
