Thank you.

The article Sting gym has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:49, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Sting gym requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Article placed in your user space[edit]

Hi. I see your attempt to create an article on "Sting Gym" keeps failing. I've resurrected the article but removed it from "mainspace" (where articles live) and placed it in your own user space at User:Romana2006/Sting Gym.

Why do people keep deleting it? Trouble is, it reads rather like straight advertising of the gym. You probably didn't mean to create it that way, but that's the way it reads. You need to understand the rules by which Wikipedia operates. One rule here is that subjects need to be notable. For example cats are notable, my cat isn't. Oasis is notable, the band I saw down the pub last Friday isn't. So you need to establish why "Sting Gym" is notable in those terms. You say (on the now-deleted talkpage) that SG is "the most dominant kickboxing gym on the Victorian fight scene, and Melbourne's most well known fight gym". These look as if it makes the gym notable, but you need to supply evidence of this. "Evidence" in this case means mention of the gym being "the most dominant..." and "Melbourne's most well known" in reliable publications (newspapers, TV, etc). Take a look at WP:CORP to see what's needed to establish that a company (which a gym is) should have an article. I've left the article as you created it in your userspace so you can work on it; if you have any questions please give me a shout on my talkpage, but don't forget that as I'm in the UK and I assume you're in Oz responses may not be immediate! Cheers and best of luck in working on the article, Tonywalton Talk 23:33, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ian Jacobs has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Pstanton (talk) 05:41, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
