RRD, please don't ever attempt to have a DYK nomination page deleted once it has been reviewed as you did with this one. The proper thing to do is to say you're withdrawing the nomination, and we'll close it as such. That's what I did to the Ikram Qureshi nomination linked above.

In any event, it is inappropriate to request a G7 speedy deletion when a number of authors have contributed to a page, as will inevitably occur with a reviewed DYK nomination. G7 should only be requested if you are the only person to make a significant contribution to the page—see WP:G7 for the full details. For DYK, that would only apply to the originally submitted nomination template before it is reviewed. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:07, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Hi, I was looking at the concerns that you raised concerning the Shahid Khaqan Abbasi bio. I have request a fellow Wikipedian to address the issues, but incase if he do not, I am preparing myself to do it. But I will need your guidance to be able to fix the article. I have came up with following changes, please suggest if they sound reasonable? --Saqib (talk) 13:07, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

*"According to some reports" > there are at least three different Pakistani publications so I wonder do i need to name them all or just "According to three Pakistani dailies" would be enough?
*"received his early education" > "was educated".
*"The cabinet was criticised" > "(the name of organisation) criticised the cabinet".
* I do not understand what is the problem with this "gaining a master's degree", but in anycase, perhaps this should be replaced with "gained or received masters degree".
* "Later he became" > "he went on to become" OR "In (year), he became".

Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Balfour Declaration

Hi RRD, you kindly performed a GA review of Balfour Declaration last year. I just wanted to let you know that the article is now at WP:FAC in case you would like to comment further. Best regards, Onceinawhile (talk) 16:49, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

Just a quick update – not long after I posted this here, I was informed that the FAC had been archived and so the article wasn't promoted. I have however opened another peer review, so if you do have the time and inclination to review the article again, you can do so there. Many thanks, Onceinawhile (talk) 23:14, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
Hi RRD, just to let you know that the article has now been back at WP:FAC for three weeks. Over the same period there has been a flurry of press coverage on the upcoming centenary.
The FAC has had a few supportive reviews already, but in case you have the inclination and time to spare, I think it still needs a few more experienced editors to take a look. Onceinawhile (talk) 07:39, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Fawad Khan GA review

Tauqeer Raza Khan

Hello, Royroydeb – I have some questions for you but they will have to wait until tomorrow. I'll post them here.  – Corinne (talk) 03:40, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

O.K. Here they are:

1) The last sentence of the first paragraph in the lede of Tauqeer Raza Khan is the following:

  • He also heads the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (Jaded) after splitting from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board claiming discrimination by the Deobandi Muslims.

(a) The word "Jaded", which appears in parentheses after "All India Muslim Personal Law Board", will confuse some readers because "jaded" is a word in English meaning, according to the Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary,

1. fatigued by overwork; or
2. made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by having or seeing too much of something.

Readers may wonder whether "Jaded" is to be understood as a word (and, if so, why a law board would be jaded) or as a name, a place name, or a non-capitalized acronym. I wonder if you could either link this to an article that would explain "Jaded" or place a brief explanatory phrase in parentheses after it.

(b) The phrase "after splitting from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board" is ambiguous. It is not clear whether the "All India Muslim Personal Law Board (Jaded)" split off from the All India Personal Law Board or Raza Khan split from (i.e., cut ties with) the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. If it is the former, I suggest the following wording:

(i.) He also heads the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (Jaded) following its split from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board claiming discrimination by the Deobandi Muslims.

If it is the latter, then I suggest the following wording:

(ii.) He also heads the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (Jaded) after he cut ties with the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, claiming discrimination by the Deobandi Muslims.

2) In the second paragraph of the lede you have the following sentence:

  • In 2016 he visited Deoband, which is the home of a rival Deobandi sub sect, in an attempt to forge unity among Muslims.

I wonder if "sub" is necessary. Are these not both Muslim sects? Why "sub-sect" (should be hyphenated)? In fact, in the very next sentence you use the word "sect".

3) In the section Tauqeer Raza Khan#Personal life you have the following sentence:

  • His elder brother, Subhan Raza Khan, is the chairman of the Dargah-e-Ala Hazrat, the shrine of Ahmed Raza Khan.

Readers may be puzzled by "chairman of...the shrine". I think "shrine" is generally understood to be a holy building or site, so readers may wonder how a holy building could have a chairman. The word "chairman" usually goes with "board", "committee", "project", etc. I wonder if you could think of a way to make this clearer, perhaps either choosing a different word (other than "chairman") or adding a phrase such as "chairman of the directors of the....shrine". (You need to choose the best words. These are only suggestions.) Of course, if you feel it is all right the way it is, then just leave it.

More to follow later.  – Corinne (talk) 15:33, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

@Corinne:
Greetings.
I would like to thank you for taking up the task of copyediting the article.
1) Jaded is an Urdu word which roughly translates to new/modern. I have now added it in parenthesis. Also the second edit (b) has also been made.

2) No, Deobandi and Barelvi are two subsects of the Sunni sect of Islam. But Sunni Islam is often referred as a denomination of Islam.

Well, at least in the U.S., "denomination" makes sense for Sunni Islam, but then "sect" would work for "Deobandi" or "Barelvi". In my experience, the word "sect" is used for a relatively small group within a larger group, not a large group, so I would use "sect" rather than "sub-sect" for "Deobandi" and "Barelvi".

3) I have now added that he is the chairman of the governing body. Actually in Indian English, we often refer the head/secretary/chairman of the governing body of a mosque or temple or any other religious place as simply the "head of the religious place". RRD (talk) 08:33, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

"Chairman of the governing body" sounds all right. I thought of another word, but you didn't mention it: director. Would that work?  – Corinne (talk) 16:07, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
@Corinne: I would not prefer so because "Chairman" is the word used in the source. RRD (talk) 16:31, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Oh. O.K.  – Corinne (talk) 02:09, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
I put "Modern" (explanation for "Jaded") in curved parentheses instead of square brackets and in quotation marks to indicate that it is a translation of "Jaded".

4) I found a sentence that I wanted to ask you about. It is the last sentence in what appears to be the second paragraph in Tauqeer Raza Khan#Religious beliefs:

  • The Times of India wrote that even though the clerics from the rival sects met but it was a rare event for a cleric to visit the other's seminary.

I saw this before; it is ungrammatical – you need either "even though" or "but", but not both, but simply fixing that may not entirely fix the problem. Look at the two possibilities first:

  • The Times of India wrote that, even though the clerics from the rival sects had met, it was a rare event for a cleric to visit the other's seminary.
  • The Times of India wrote that the clerics from the rival sects had met, but it was a rare event for a cleric to visit the other's seminary.

These both mean pretty much the same, but there is something wrong conceptually with the sentences. Both sentence constructions indicate a contrast between the first clause and the second (the clauses start after "wrote that"). However, there really isn't much of a contrast. What would be more of a contrast would be:

(a) if the Times wrote that the meeting of clerics from rival sects was news in itself, but it was even more newsworthy that the two clerics visited each other's seminary/ that one cleric visited the other's seminary, or, to say it another way,

(b) if the Times wrote that it was worthy of note that clerics of rival sects had met, but it was a rare event when the two clerics visit each other's seminary/ when one of them visits the other's seminary (I don't know if both clerics visited the other's seminary or only one did). I think either of these explain the situation and the contrast a little better than the two possibilities above.

5) Is the quote in the section Tauqeer Raza Khan#views an exact quote from an English language source or a translation? If it is a translation, could it be edited? I see what I would call grammatical or usage errors in it. For example, "The history" should be just "History"; the preposition that usually follows "witness" is "to" ("is witness to..."); "rich" should be "the rich"; "rich" should be followed by a semi-colon (;); "its the first time" should be "it is the first time" or "it's the first time"; "Prime Minister" should be "the Prime Minister" or "a Prime Minister".  – Corinne (talk) 02:39, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

@Corinne:

4. Times of India stressed or highlighted Tauqeer Raza's visit to Deoband more as it was probably first time that cleric from one sect had visited the seminary of other sect.
5. That is what the source says. I believe the source has introduced grammatical errors while translating his Urdu speech. RRD (talk) 12:57, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

O.K. Re the quote, I can understand leaving that alone, but we need help with the wording in item 4. Do you mind if I ping one or more other editors for their opinions? Joshua Jonathan and Kautilya3 can you help with the wording?  – Corinne (talk) 01:17, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
"The Times of India wrote that the clerics from the rival sects had met, though it was a rare event for a cleric to visit the other's seminary." Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 03:58, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
@Joshua Jonathan and Corinne: I think the suggestion is fine. RRD (talk) 04:20, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
I agree that it is an improvement. Thank you, Joshua Jonathan. To make it clearer that it was the Times, and not Wikipedia, that was saying it was a rare event, perhaps:
  • The Times of India wrote that the clerics from the rival sects had met, noting that it was a rare event for a cleric to visit the other's seminary.  – Corinne (talk) 12:57, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Football articles

Hello. Noticed your return to creating football articles. Just to point out a couple of things you may have forgotten, and some more recent stuff you probably never knew.

At Greg Cundle, you correctly undid an edit that added unsourced content, including the player's full name, but restored the (incorrect) full name that you yourself had added unsourced. There are no sources for dob, birthplace or height, either.

On stats sourcing, bear in mind that mainstream sources don't cover lower leagues in any depth. You may be OK with Soccerway for National League matches, but nothing lower than that, and they don't cover the FA Cup below QR4 at all, and not reliably even at that level. The point is that in stats tables, if you don't know that your source fully covers particular competitions, don't assume that their figures are correct. Especially don't expect Soccerway to cover "other" comps for lower-league teams, because they don't. If you don't know your figures are correct, leave the cell blank. E.g. the Billericay row at Greg Cundle seems completely random. Soccerway gives him 1 FA Cup appearance (in QR4, which they do cover): he actually played in all four qualifying rounds... And the Stortford league apps are correct, but he did make appearances in other competitions. The Aylesbury United database is quite useful for players from the lower leagues in the south of England.

In the stats table Season column, we're supposed to use the club season so long as it's notable, but if it isn't, which seems to be anything below EFL level these days, we're supposed to use the division season.

The {{soccerbase season}} template is probably new to you: the season parameter should contain the first year of the season, so for 2017/18, you should supply 2017.

Hope some of this helps, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:38, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

@Struway2:
Greetings.
The soccer base template is new for me and I probably misinterpret while copying the template from other article. And yes the infobox in Greg Cundle is unsourced, but there seems to be an unwritten convention about it being sourced from external links.[Anyway I will add] Also speaking about career stats, I was unaware of the source you mentioned, and I have seen Soccer way giving stats of lower league clubs 's players in national cups (Portuguese and German lower tiers at least). Anyway, I will make the suggested changes within one or two days. RRD (talk) 07:14, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
It's not so much that Soccerway etc don't cover cups: they do, to some extent, but they don't cover early rounds of those competitions. So their figure for apps in a certain comp will be correct as far as it goes, but won't necessarily be complete.
You'll find the "unwritten convention" about external link sourcing is nowhere near as conventional as it once was: some editors routinely remove unsourced full names on sight (personally, I tend to look for a source myself first, which is how I know Cundle's full name isn't Gregory Cundle :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:11, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018

So the 2017 WikiCup has come to an end. Congratulations to the winner, to the other finalists and to all those who took part. 177 contestants signed up, more than usual, but not all of them submitted entries in the first round. Were editors attracted by the cash prizes offered for the first time this year, or were these irrelevant? Do the rules and scoring need changing for the 2018 WikiCup? If you have a view on these or other matters, why not join in the WikiCup discussion about next year's contest? Carlos Rodríguez Molina

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Carlos Rodríguez Molina has been completed.

I'm afraid I could not improve on your literal translation of this article's title - "Carlos Rodríguez sentencia en el descuento". But the literal translation - "Carlos Rodríguez sentences in the discount" makes no sense in English. I would suggest that you just omit an English translation for this one.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Royroydeb. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Luis Miguel Ribeiro Teixeira, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Amarante (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Infobox dates

Hi, when updating infobox stats you should update the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats, by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 16:44, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Eric Lichaj

I've added a few {{cn}} tags to uncited text; other than that it looks good for a GAN. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 03:24, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
The article needs some updating if it is to succeed at GAN—it mentions Lichaj signing a contract extension through summer 2017 yet he's still in Nottingham this season (and after being Player of the Year, which probably meant the new contract was significantly better)—and the lead section needs some expansion, since it doesn't adequately cover all the sections in the body of the article. At a minimum, I'd add how long he played for Aston Villa and when he began playing for Nottingham, his Player of the Year designation, and perhaps a tad more info on his international play with the U.S. team. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:53, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
@BlueMoonset: Hi. I understand your concerns. I want to let you know that I am not currently nominating it for GA. I had an intention of working on this article, expanding it while I listed it at the Copy Edit section, but due to time constraint I could not continue. RRD (talk) 16:30, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 March newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. With 53 contestants qualifying, the groups for round 2 are slightly smaller than usual, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining users.

Our top scorers in round 1 were:

  • United States Aoba47 led the field with a featured article, 8 good articles and 42 GARs, giving a total of 666 points.
  • Germany FrB.TG , a WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points, gained from a featured article and masses of bonus points.
  • India Ssven2, another WikiCup newcomer, was in third place with 403 points, garnered from a featured article, a featured list, a good article and twelve GARs.
  • United States Ceranthor, India Numerounovedant, Minnesota Carbrera, Netherlands Farang Rak Tham and Romania Cartoon network freak all had over 200 points, but like all the other contestants, now have to start again from scratch. A good achievement was the 193 GARs performed by WikiCup contestants, comparing very favourably with the 54 GAs they achieved.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! WikiCup 2018 May newsletter

The second round of the 2018 WikiCup has now finished. Most contestants who advanced to the next round scored upwards of 100 points, but two with just 10 points managed to scrape through into round 3. Our top scorers in the last round were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with three featured articles
  • Republic of Texas Iazyges, with nine good articles and lots of bonus points
  • India Yashthepunisher, a first time contestant, with two featured lists
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with seventeen good topic articles
  • United States Usernameunique, a first time contestant, with fourteen DYKs
  • San Francisco Muboshgu, a seasoned competitor, with three ITNs and
  • South Carolina Courcelles, another first time contestant, with twenty-seven GARs

So far contestants have achieved twelve featured articles between them and a splendid 124 good articles. Commendably, 326 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2018 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met; most of the GARs are fine, but a few have been a bit skimpy.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). WikiCup 2018 July newsletter

The third round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round had at least 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • South Carolina Courcelles, a first time contestant, with 1756 points, a tally built largely on 27 GAs related to the Olympics
  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three GAs on natural history and astronomy topics
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with a variety of submissions related to transport in the state of Washington

Contestants managed 7 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 120 good articles, 1 good topic, 124 DYK entries, 15 ITN entries, and 132 good article reviews. Over the course of the competition, contestants have completed 458 GA reviews, in comparison to 244 good articles submitted for review and promoted. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process; several submissions, particularly in abstruse or technical areas, have needed additional work to make them completely verifiable.

Peer review newsletter #1

Introduction

Hello to all! I do not intend to write a regular peer review newsletter but there does occasionally come a time when those interested in contributing to peer review should be contacted, and now is one. I've mailed this out to everyone on the peer review volunteers list, and some editors that have contributed to past discussions. Apologies if I've left you off or contacted you and you didn't want it. Next time there is a newsletter / mass message it will be opt in (here), I'll talk about this below - but first:

  • THANK YOU! I want to thank you for your contributions and for volunteering on the list to help out at peer review. Thank you!
  • Peer review is useful! It's good to have an active peer review process. This is often the way that we help new or developing editors understand our ways, and improve the quality of their editing - so it fills an important and necessary gap between the teahouse (kindly introduction to our Wikiways) and GA and FA reviews (specific standards uphelp according to a set of quality criteria). And we should try and improve this process where possible (automate, simplify) so it can be used and maintained easily.

Updates

It can get quite lonely tinkering with peer review...
With a bit of effort we can renovate the place to look like this!

Update #1: the peer review volunteers list is changing

The list is here in case you've forgotten: WP:PRV. Kadane has kindly offered to create a bot that will ping editors on the volunteers list with unanswered reviews in their chosen subject areas every so often. You can choose the time interval by changing the "contact" parameter. Options are "never", "monthly", "quarterly", "halfyearly", and "annually". For example:

  • {{PRV|JohnSmith|History of engineering|contact=monthly}} - if placed in the "History" section, JohnSmith will receive an automatic update every month about unanswered peer reviews relating to history.
  • {{PRV|JaneSmith|Mesopotamian geography, Norwegian fjords|contact=annually}} - if placed in the "Geography" section, JaneSmith will receive an automatic update every yearly about unanswered peer reviews in the geography area.

We can at this stage only use the broad peer review section titles to guide what reviews you'd like, but that's better than nothing! You can also set an interest in multiple separate subject areas that will be updated at different times.

Update #2: a (lean) WikiProject Peer review

I don't think we need a WikiProject with a giant bureaucracy nor all sorts of whiz-bang features. However over the last few years I've found there are times when it would have been useful to have a list of editors that would like to contribute to discussions about the peer review process (e.g. instructions, layout, automation, simplification etc.). Also, it can get kind of lonely on the talk page as I am (correct me if I'm wrong) the only regular contributor, with most editors moving on after 6 - 12 months.

So, I've decided to create "WikiProject Peer review". If you'd like to contribute to the WikiProject, or make yourself available for future newsletters or contact, please add yourself to the list of members.

Update #3: advertising

We plan to do some advertising of peer review, to let editors know about it and how to volunteer to help, at a couple of different venues (Signpost, Village pump, Teahouse etc.) - but have been waiting until we get this bot + WikiProject set up so we have a way to help interested editors make more enduring contributions. So consider yourself forewarned!

And... that's it!

I wish you all well on your Wikivoyages, Tom (LT) (talk) 00:31, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 September newsletter

The fourth round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The eight users who made it to the final round had to score a minimum of 422 points to qualify, with the top score in the round being 4869 points. The leaders in round 4 were:

  • South Carolina Courcelles scored a magnificent 4869 points, with 92 good articles on Olympics-related themes. Courcelles' bonus points alone exceeded the total score of any of the other contestants!
  • Hel, Poland Kees08 was second with 1155 points, including a high-scoring featured article for Neil Armstrong, two good topics and some Olympics-related good articles.
  • Scotland Cas Liber, with 1066 points, was in third place this round, with two featured articles and a good article, all on natural history topics.
  • Other contestants who qualified for the final round were Marshall Islands Nova Crystallis, Republic of Texas Iazyges, Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, Wales Kosack and United States Ceranthor.

During round four, 6 featured articles and 164 good articles were promoted by WikiCup contestants, 13 articles were included in good topics and 143 good article reviews were performed. There were also 10 "in the news" contributions on the main page and 53 "did you knows". Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best editor win! WP:CIR - again

Hi,

Can you please remind why you were blocked back in the day, and improve your creations? Creating Caíque da Silva Maria as just "Caíque" as the article name is a clear lack of competence. There are some players who have the same first name:

  1. Caique da Silva Santos
  2. Caíque Silva Rocha
  3. Caíque Venâncio Lemes Nascimento
  4. Caique Gomes
  5. Caíque Silva Sá
  6. Caique Ferreira da Silva Leite

Please, don't create pages with short names, especially when it is related to Brazilian footballers, with the very few exceptions like Romércio, Werley and some other names that aren't "normal". MYS77 18:26, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

@MYS77: All the sources mentioned refer to the player simply as Caíque and not by his full name. Therefore due to WP:COMMONNAME and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople), his common name - Caíque is the title of article. It doesn't matter whether there are other footballers with same name. All the other articles can be moved to Caíque (footballer, born 19xx). The full name can be easily redirected to the respected article. RRD (talk) 02:33, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

The guy is barely a professional yet, thus he doesn't deserve being created as just "Caíque", since there are some players more known under the same name. Correct approach would be his full name or "Caíque (footballer, born 19xx)". Still, there's a lack of competence when it comes to creating pages and you're not admitting it. MYS77 13:24, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
@MYS77: When I started the page, there were no other pages exactly titled "Caíque", so a parenthesis was redundant. Also Caique Ferreira da Silva Leite is commonly known as Valdivia, Caique Silva Sa is known as Caique Sa. Anyway, cheers! RRD (talk) 06:34, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
