My concern with your edits to Robert Stein III and Trilobyte has to do with Wikipedia's guidelines on vanity articles. Hello, I did not find your comments rude. I fully understand your concerns. I will refrain from writing about myself.

However, I would hope that my edit to "Trilobyte" would remain. Not only did I list myself, I listed all contributors to "The 7th guest" that were not mentioned. These contributors (Mathew Costello, Gene Bodio and Alan Iglesias) were not just minor contributors. Mathew was an acomplished writer before Tbyte hired his services, and he should probably have his own listing here. And Gene, Alan and myself should be concidered pioneers with regard to bringing 3d to the Gaming world. (yes, there were many hundreds of 3d artists in film and video at the time, but in 90-91 you could count the 3d artist in gaming on one hand.)

I would like to express a concern I have about "Not" writing about myself. I have had a similar issue with MobyGames.

I wrote them years ago to add some of my game credits. There response was similar to yours.

Years later I find that most of the credits I tried to add have been added by others...but there are also credits listed on my page that I had nothing to do with....because thay are getting me mixed up with another Robert Stein (not the one on wiki) that worked at Microsoft as a game artist the same time I did.

So, while viewing wikipedia the other day, I noticed that people and companies that I would have normally concidered unimportant in the grand sceme of things were listed here. My adding myself has less to do with vanity and more to do with "Credit were credit is due" and "Accuracy".

Do you know how many times I have gotten an email from somebody saying they saw my listing (Robert Stein) at wikipedia and that they were totally surprised that I was the guy that started the Voyager Company.....well, its not me....but I think I'll start taking credit for it in the future. :-)

You know, I use to get phone calls for that guy, long before Wikipedia came along.

So...if somebody else writes about me, will I be able to edit out incorrect information?

Thank you for understanding my concerns, and thank you for contributing your expertise to Wikpedia on a topic you are familiar with. I was concerned about your edits to Trilobyte because they came at the same time that you wrote the article about yourself. People sometimes add information about themsleves (or a fictional person) to an article in order to make that person seem important. We deal with a lot of hoaxes and a lot of vanity. I was concerned that might have been the case here. From what you've told me, I wouldn't have a problem with it being restored.

I understand your concern about Wikipedia having articles about some people and companies, and lacking articles about others that are equally, if not more notable. That is one of the weaknesses with Wikipedia, but also, always a reason for people to create new articles.

You might conisder editing some other pages about topics you are familiar with, or creating articles about people such as Matthew Costello who you think are notable enough for an encyclopedia article. Generally people are discouraged from editing pages about themselves. If someone else does create an article about you, and it contains inaccurate information, it is usually better to leave a note on the discussion page, and let another user correct it. You might also leave a note on another user's talk page (such as the user who added the inaccurate information) and ask them to correct it for you.

Can I just echo TMS63112's comments, and of course extend another welcome to Wikipedia. The way to get stuff about you included is to take it to the Talk page of the relevant article. If the other editors on the article agree with you that it is significant, interesting, relevant and of course verifiable from reliable sources, they will add it. - Just zis Guy, you know? ^[T]/_[C]

Hi! Sorry if my comments above were unclear. I was trying to indicate that I would not have a problem if the information about you and the other contributors was restored to the Trilobyte article. I'm not sure if it's better for you to add the information back or leave a note on the talk page for that article suggesting it be added back. . .Of course all of our pages develop through consensus of the editors who contribute. . .so if somone else thinks it doesn't belong there, they may change it, or raise concerns on the talk page. Robert K Stein Jr.[edit]

Robert Kenneth Stein Jr. (born May 21, 1933) is an Air Force pilot who was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross during service in Vietnam as a AC-47 Pilot.

Early Life[edit]

Born on May 21, 1933 to Marian and Bob Stein, in Hackensack NJ. The family moved to Port Stanley, Ontario, Canada in 1940, when Bob Stein Sr. enlisted in the RCAF. As a Sea Scout in High School, Bob Jr. worked on boats during the summers of ‘50 & ‘51 near Long Island. He graduated from Hackensack High School in '51 and attended Hilder Preparatory School for one year before entering the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1952.

Military Career[edit]

After Graduating from West Point in 1956, he proceeded to Marana Air Base for Pilot Training, then to Craig Air Force Base for Flight Instructor School, then on to Webb Air Force Base as a T-33 and T-37 Flight Instructor.

Citation 1: The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Robert K. Stein, Jr., for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-47 Pilot near Can Tho, Republic of Vietnam on 9 and 10 April 1966. On that date, Captain Stein was flying a combat support mission against hostile forces attempting to overrun a friendly Special Forces outpost. Despite limited communications with the friendly forces, intense ground fire directed at the aircraft, the close proximity of the border of a neutral country and the illumination of their own aircraft as they provided airborne flares for the friendly forces, Captain Stein and his crew made repeated illumination and firing passes over the hostile positions. They directed their fire with such accuracy and determination that the hostile forces were forced to break off the attack. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Stein reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Citation 2: The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Robert K. Stein, Jr., for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-47 Pilot near VI Thanh, Republic of Vietnam on 23 April 1966 and 24 April 1966. On these dates, Captain Stein flew two sorties in support of the highly successful Dan Chi 219 operation. During the encounter, Captain Stein found hostile forces trapped against a river bank and despite formidable anti-aircraft defenses and poor visibility, he remained in the extremely dangerous environment for more than seven hours helping to route the hostile forces and causing them heavy losses. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Stein reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
