April 2024[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:58, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I fully understand the reasons for this username being blocked, as we created an account under our company name in order to post an article about our Founder. No compensation is received for posting this page. We will re-write the article and ensure it meets your guidelines. I intend the re-write the article as per your guidelines, be sure to add further citations to prove the validity of the posting and to edit this as required based on any further follow up comments. Appreciate your attention to this and look forward to re-submitting this page. The page is being added, as Professor Russell is receiving increased attention due to his role and therefore it makes sense for there to be a Wikipedia page outlining who he is and what he does. Thank you

Decline reason:

This shows no understanding of WP:COI. Wikipedia isn't the place for you to write an article about your business or about your founder. Please use your own website to promote them. If this is your only goal, this is the end of the line. Yamla (talk) 11:49, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is not about promotion, this about sharing information with the general public. As per your guidelines, other people with no conflict of interest can write this. We will wait for someone else to submit an article on him, as that will suit your requirement RussellPartnershipCollection (talk) 12:03, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So long as that person is entirely unconnected with your organisation and not solicited in any way by you, that would be fine. --Yamla (talk) 13:06, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is fully understood. Regards RussellPartnershipCollection (talk) 13:38, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
...and demonstrates notability, while writing in a neutral, non-promotional manner and without trespassing on anyone's copyright (which were the reasons for declining this draft, and having it speedily deleted, respectively). -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:14, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
