Scripts

[edit]

There was an RfC where it was decided to use pronunciation IPAs instead of language scripts for actors pages. It is here: Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics/Archive_48#Native_languages_in_lead. Please do not add any new scripts. regards, DRAGON BOOSTER 09:52, 31 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

OK, I will not translate the titles again. But what "scripts" you're talking about? I haven't added any "scripts". Just translated names manually. ʂaɳɖaƙɘɭʉɱ ʈaɭƙ 13:03, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thats the thing i`m talking abt, as u r adding the native language "scripts" of the names. like here 1 and here 2, which was decided to use IPAs instead. regards, DRAGON BOOSTER 14:17, 31 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

"what did i screwed now"

[edit]

"what did i screwed now" putting "screwed" in the correct tense. The form is did...screw, not did...screwed. I know, it's a bit weird, but you'll get used to it. FlashingYoshi!

Changed. Thanks. :) ʂaɳɖaƙɘɭʉɱ ʈaɭƙ 01:58, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:4G LTE Logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:4G LTE Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:35, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK. As it's not used in any article, I requested speedy deletion on that in good faith. See CSD G7. ʂaɳɖaƙɘɭʉɱ ʈaɭƙ 12:51, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection requests

[edit]

Hi Sandalkelum. Thanks for reporting problematic pages to Requests for page protection. However, I've had to decline all of your recent requests, since protection was not warranted for any of them. Protection isn't applied pre-emtively, to prevent vandalism in the future, nor is it applied when reverting vandalism in the usual way would not be overly onerous. Have a quick look through the protection policy for more details.

Please don't take this as a refusal to consider your reports; your vigilance is appreciated. Nevertheless, it might be an idea for you to read up on the policy again before submitting further requests. Cheers, Yunshui  10:56, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, it's OK. I'm still new to Wikipedia. Sorry for any inconvenience. I just want to contribute and help Wikipedia. ʂaɳɖaƙɘɭʉɱ ʈaɭƙ 12:48, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem - better to file a report and be turned down than to let the vandalism continue unabated. By the way, if you haven't already considered it, maybe you'd find the Adopt-a-user program helpful? Yunshui  12:55, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

deletion reasons

[edit]

You are correct that the article RockBuster International must be deleted, but not for the reason you gave:

The speedy deletion tags have a strictly limited application, given in WP:CSD. You tagged with no context and no content. If you can tell what an article is about there is context. If it gives any information besides the name and contact information for the subject it has content.

The correct tags for this article are db-corp, for a company with no indication that it might possibly be important, and db-advert that it is just an advertisement without encyclopedic content. I shall soon delete it on those grounds.

Nor does it apply to Red Taylor swift song ; this is however a duplicate of material already in WP in the article on her album of the same title, and a redirect already exists. I will delete it by the correct criterion, duplicate.

There is also no point in applying tags for minor problems to articles with very serious problems--it detracts from the understanding of the real issue, for MiniBoss (Studio) , the problem is not that the lead is too short, nor insufficient context, nor lank of links, but the total absence of references and no indication of notability. I will mark it for deletion as a7. In general, you have been excessively tagging articles with "lead too short:" a very short article may require only a one sentence lead. it is, in any case, normally a very minor problem indeed.

For Bristol park hospital, you gave as the reasons no context, no content, test page, and transwikified.None apply. Another admin deleted it nonetheless, and correctly, because it was a pure advertisement, g-11.

On another topic, your request page protection for Sinhala language because "Indefinite semi-protection: It's an article about a native language of a country. Therefor, that should be protected and only allow trusted registered editors to edit it. " It was, correctly, denied. Your RPP for shirt was also denied, as there really wasn't enough recent vandalism . Also declined was one for which you gave the explanation "B-class very useful, well-written article."

You need to learn the rules a little more carefully before you tag additional articles. Start with WP:CSD and WP:Deletion policy DGG ( talk ) 23:20, 4 October 2012 (UTC) DGG ( talk ) 23:20, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I just got started to use Twinke. So, I've been tagging articles with the reasons I feel correct. I'll read more about it shortly. Thanks for the links. ʂaɳɖaƙɘɭʉɱ ʈaɭƙ 14:45, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sandakelum. I've noticed that you've been having a few issues in your first few edits here. Wikipedia can be a steep learning curve to start with. I wondered whether joining the Adopt-a-user program might make things easier for you? Adopt-a-user pairs new users with experienced editors to help them learn the ropes.

You can find a suitable mentor by asking anyone from the list of adopters, or you can place the code {{subst:dated adoptme}} anywhere on your user page.

I know I already mentioned this above, but I really wanted to test this new template... You seem to me to be an ideal adoption candidate, a keen, enthusiastic editor who just needs a bit of help with some of the more esoteric areas of Wikipedia. If you feel it's not for you, no problem; just ignore this message. Cheers, Yunshui  09:01, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but I'm kind of busy with my job and I'm not that much active on Wikipedia as you can see. So, I think that won't be neccasary. Anyway, thanks for the offer. I'm sure I'll consider it if I could have more minutes to spend on Wikipedia someday. ʂaɳɖaƙɘɭʉɱ ʈaɭƙ 14:39, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka

[edit]
Dear Sandakelum,

Thank you for your contributions to the Wikimedia Projects. As an editor from Sri Lanka, you are warmly invited to join the official Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka and to subscribe to its mailing list, Wikimedia-LK.

The user group currently includes volunteers from Wikipedia and other projects, from the English, Sinhala, and Tamil speaking communities. It is the Wikimedia-approved platform for editors from Sri Lanka to enable wider collaboration, for both online and offline projects.

With your support, we hope to organize cross-project content improvement drives as part of online projects, as well as organize in-person edit-a-thons, training sessions, photowalks, and other such activities, in the near future. The ultimate goal(s) of these initiatives is to improve the overall coverage and quality of topics relating to Sri Lanka, as well as encourage new editors to join the Wikimedia community, while simultaneously empowering and retaining our existing team of editors.

There are no mandatory obligations for members who choose join the community, other than the usual editing rules for online projects, and the friendly space policy for in-person projects. You may also (or instead) subscribe to the mailing list, where any member could initiate discussions with volunteers across projects, notify members of events and meetings, stay up to date with competitions, organize your own events, and so on.

See you on board, and Happy Editing!
