Copyright and citations[edit]

Hi, Saolazzargorea. I think you may be confusing citations and copyright, and are getting a lot of warnings as a result. To summarise:

You absolutely do need to add citations to reliable sources to the information you add to articles here, so please start doing that again.
When you add material to Wikipedia, you must not copy it word for word from the sources. That's a copyright violation because the source (book, website or whatever) will have copyright over that form of words. What you need to do is summarise in your own words what the sources say. The facts themselves are not copyrighted, just the words used to describe them, if that makes sense.

Wikipedia takes copyright seriously and if you keep adding copyrighted material you'll end up being blocked from editing. That would be a shame because you seem to want to do the right thing but aren't sure what you're doing wrong! Neiltonks (talk) 16:23, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
