BAGBot: Your bot request CensusBot

[edit]

Someone has marked Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/CensusBot as needing your input. Please visit that page to reply to the requests. Thanks! AnomieBOT 20:42, 7 June 2017 (UTC) To opt out of these notifications, place {{bots|optout=operatorassistanceneeded}} anywhere on this page.[reply]

I noticed you removed your bot request from the request page - do you no longer want to run this? — xaosflux Talk 22:21, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK I see you reverted, that page is updated by bot already - please wait for your edits to be reviewed. — xaosflux Talk 22:26, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that. I was reading over the guide and thought I needed to move it. Sasan-CDS (talk) 16:09, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Abbreviation

[edit]

Hi, per MOS:STOPS please change CensusBot to write "est." rather than "est" - thanks. 209.6.209.51 (talk) 16:13, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bot

[edit]

Hi there. Are you a Wikipedia bot operator? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:14, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I see the history of the bot now. I noticed your edits on a few articles and wanted to check. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:24, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Are We Sort of Duplicating Each Other's Work?

[edit]

I suppose I've written CenPop script as a semi-automated Javascript tool to focus on updating Census Bureau data for places and to a lesser extent counties, so they're at present more complementary than duplicatory, but I was told I ought to bring this up with you, so ... DemocraticLuntz (talk) 14:12, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DemocraticLuntz: Hi. The bot currently only does state population, but it will also do counties population, as well as any other metrics that the census bureau provides going forward. I took a stab at the state population and ranking first in order to use it to create a model in which the bot can operate. Let me know if you think we need to discuss further. Thanks. Sasan-CDS (talk) 14:37, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I see we're both Department of Commerce employees (although I began working on semi-automated edits of Wikipedia over a year before I got hired as a NIST cryptographer last summer and this is a side project ) ... DemocraticLuntz (talk) 16:45, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ha, small world. Yeah, I'm working on this as a work project though it may become a side project soon. Reach out to me if you ever want to discuss in greater detail in person. I also wrote a bot for Wikidata [CensusBot].

Hello Sasan-CDS. You need to correct the format of Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/CensusBot 2. It needs to follow the standard BRFA layout. You can copy the layout from here. — JJMC89(T·C) 20:47, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@JJMC89: Thanks. I updated the bot request and resubmitted the request as 'open'. -- Logan-Census (talk) 18:48, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should population be from decennial census, census estimate or both

[edit]

See discussion I started at Template talk:Infobox U.S. county regarding edits by CensusBot. The question is should population be from the decennial census, the census estimate or both. Alansohn (talk) 14:34, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
