Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!  nsaum75 !Dígame¡ 23:31, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photo request

[edit]

Hi! I'm not in Houston right now, but I'll be back in December. I'll keep your request in mind until then :)

If you want another person to take your photo, please go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Houston and request there.

Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 15:44, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also since St. Cecilia Catholic School (Houston, Texas) is an elementary-middle school, its notability might be challenged. I suggest looking through the Houston Chronicle archives and checking if there are any articles that discuss the school in detail. If so, it could help make a case for the preservation of the article. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:47, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I do prefer that messages posted on my talk page stay up. Thank you for your concern, though :) WhisperToMe (talk) 15:53, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I really hated to do this, but we can't have organizational accounts

[edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

This account name is not based on an organization- I named it after my youth sports teams (the Union and the Raiders).

Decline reason:

Having looked at your editing history, I believe you. However, the fact remains that your username is likely to give the impression that the account represents an organisation, which, as you will see if you read the block notice, is inconsistent with our username policy. I can understand that it is irritating to have to change your username although there are no problems with your editing, but that is what the policy requires. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You might want to read that policy on usernames that you linked to, Orange Mike. In particular, "Users who adopt such usernames, but who are not editing problematically in related articles, should not be blocked. Instead, they should be gently encouraged to change their username". Gentle encouragement indeed. Buddy431 (talk) 22:45, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
SC Rail Union, I encourage you to not give into these over-zeleous admins - there is nothing wrong with your name. Instead, open a request for comment on your username at wp:RFCN. If you wish, I will open one for you. I suspect (though can't promise) that the community will find your name acceptable. Buddy431 (talk) 22:48, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
