GA bot

Hi Shubinator. Viriditas suggested I ask your opinion on creating a way to track Good article reviews. I have already started a conersation at User talk:Scottywong#Tools for good articles. If you can help out that would be great. Regards AIRcorn (talk) 11:10, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately I don't have enough spare time at the moment to take on a new project. Shubinator (talk) 17:04, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Could DYK script add support for AfC?

Could your DYK check script be tweaked so that if an article was moved from a page starting with "Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/" within the last five days it would show as eligible for DYK (assuming it met the other requirements)? And the same thing for one being moved from the User: namespace (if it doesn't have this function already). David1217 What I've done 03:13, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

The script already checks for moves from userspace. It shouldn't be difficult to tweak it to encompass AfC as well; I'll try to get to it in the next few days. Shubinator (talk) 05:55, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! David1217 What I've done 06:00, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Done. The AfC move check shares the same limitations as the existing userspace move check; the script will delve into the history 100 revisions to hunt for a move. If, for example, the article has been edited 150 times after the move but is still eligible for DYK, the nominator should mention that. Shubinator (talk) 04:18, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! (I had also previously requested this above). MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 04:29, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
*facepalm* Sorry, with all the mayhem in the past few months it slipped my mind... Shubinator (talk) 04:31, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Absolutely no need to apologize. It was definitely not urgent. And you've done so much to help DYK! I can barely even imagine how DYK could work without your tools and bots. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 04:41, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks :) Shubinator (talk) 04:43, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Kiev Pechersk Lavra (General).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:40, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

The image was deleted on Commons [1], thus I deleted what remained of it here. Materialscientist (talk) 09:05, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Detecting DYK image protection

Have a look here. The claim is DYK bot doesn't properly detect image protection. I'm not 100% sure it is correct, as the images in question were cascade protected when I've got to them. Materialscientist (talk) 23:41, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Replied there. By this point the bot often (correctly) sees things I don't, so I'm inclined to trust it. Allowing unprotected images on the main page is a serious issue though, so if it is happening, hopefully I can get some more specifics and fix it. Shubinator (talk) 03:09, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

DYKUpdateBot looks to be confused

Earlier today there was an outage of the Wikimedia servers (#wikimedia-tech was reporting a fiber cut affecting the Tampa data center). Apparently the corrective actions involved some DNS updates to bypass the affected physical network links. DYKUpdateBot does not appear to be fully functional at the moment and probably needs to either be restarted or otherwise forced to perform another DNS looks to update its network connection to the servers in Tampa. --Allen3 talk 16:16, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Interesting. The bot log is showing connectivity issues for the 16:00 update, but the bot reset itself after your manual update. Looks like everything's back to normal. Shubinator (talk) 03:40, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

More bot trouble

Wikipedia:Did you know/DYK hook count has not been updated for several hours. Does ‎DYKHousekeepingBot need a swift kick in the backside? --Orlady (talk) 05:00, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Done. Sorry for the delay; I should've checked on DYKHousekeepingBot while I was looking into DYKUpdateBot... Shubinator (talk) 03:16, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Step 3 of the DYN nomination procedure

  •  Done I put {{Template:Did you know nominations/Gelindo Bordin}} under the date at the top of the section;
  •  Done And now, I put the same template in the article talk page.

What's still missing? --Kasper2006 (talk) 06:52, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Looks like there was a mix-up on the noms page where the August 11th Olympics section was accidentally deleted. Orlady fixed it. Shubinator (talk) 04:35, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

DYK for cognitive vulnerability

Hey! This nomination template has been looked over and since the reviewer suggested a hook, ONLY THE HOOK needs to be looked over by another new reviewer. The rest of the article has been surely taken care of. If you have the time to just check it out, please do so. Thanks. Khyati Gupta (talk) 19:47, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

DYKUpdateBot bug

DYKUpdateBot isn't recognising redirected pages; see [2]. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:16, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Looks like it became broken a while ago. I've fixed it and restarted the bot. Thanks! Shubinator (talk) 17:27, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
