Welcome![edit]

Hello, SimoneNoble, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hi James, can someone please proofread the article I posted. It has indeed already been deleted from Wikipedia, so as you suggested can you save the content from it to use for my draft? This is so confusing for me and I hope this is where I need to write this message. Thank you. Simone {{Help me}}

Before the question, smh.

{{Help me}} Hi James, can someone please proofread the article I posted. It has indeed already been deleted from Wikipedia, so as you suggested can you save the content from it to use for my draft? This is so confusing for me and I hope this is where I need to write this message. Thank you. Simone

Hi guys. Thank you. I am Simon's assistant. Can you please send me the link to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation. I will have his bio re-done with reliable, independent secondary sources and citations. Best, Simone.

Hi - thanks for disclosing the nature of your relationship with the subject of this article. The relevant instructions that you need to read are at WP:COI, and also WP:PAID. Please note that you are very strongly discouraged from making any changes to the article yourself. You are requested to make requests for any changes on the article talk page, providing links to references, and allow other, disinterested editors to review and make the actual changes. Please do not attempt to redo his bio yourself. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 17:51, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Simon Chang (designer)[edit]

Hi - I was discussing these edits with James-the-Charizard just now, and I see you've asked for assistance with this, so I thought I'd drop you a line about the problems here. There are a couple of issues:

  • First, I am assuming from your edits and edit summary that you have some sort of a connection with the subject of this article? If so, our conflict of interest guidelines apply - you should read through the notes that James left you in his welcome template, and take the necessary steps towards disclosure.
  • Second, the content that was added seemed very promotional in nature. As an encyclopedia, we aim to present entirely neutral, factual assertions about the subjects of our articles. Phrases like 'Innovative television campaigns allowed the Canadian public to experience Chang’s creative drive, energy and passion for everything he undertakes' are totally unsuitable - we would be aiming more for something along the lines of 'Chang ran a series of television commercials in Canada', without any of the puffery.
  • Finally, the material was unsourced. Content should be sourced to reliable, independent secondary sources, with citations to show where the information has come from. Note that the subject's website or social media pages would be considered dependent, primary sources, and so would be unsuitable. We'd be looking for things like articles in newspapers with a reputation for fact checking.

I hope that all makes sense. If you have any questions, please PING me in your response (or reply on my talk page). Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 15:49, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Girth. Thank you. I am Simon's assistant. Can you please send me the link to disclose "your employer, client, and affiliation". I will have his bio re-done with reliable, independent secondary sources and citations. Best, Simone.

There is no "link to send"; please read WP:COI and WP:PAID for instructions on how to comply. Note that you shouldn't edit within the area of your COI directly, instead you may make edit requests and use WP:AFC to create new articles. 331dot (talk) 17:56, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi- I requested an edit on Simon Chang Designer's talk page and the request was denied because the editor used the 2018 edition of the reference and I used the 2017 edition. I asked if the decision could be revised. I haven't received a response. What should I do now?

Thank you

Hi SimoneNoble, the request appears to have been created by copying a "denied request" template in Special:Diff/901226789, basically denying your own request by accident. To avoid this, please follow the instructions at Template:Request_edit#How_to_use whenever you'd like to create a new request.
I have un-denied the request; it will likely be answered in the next few days. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:13, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
