You can either discuss the issue on the article's talk page (use {{ping}} to "ping" them), or you can discuss the matter with them on their talk page (usually linked in their signature). The first option is a little bit better, because it means that any user who watches that page will be able to discuss the relevant changes. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 01:58, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

I thought the answer you received at the Teahouse was sufficient, but here's a bit more detail about how you should proceed.

• Open the page Talk:Death of Elijah McClain
• Read the discussions that are already there, just so you're up to date on some of the differing views that have been expressed.
• If you still think you want to propose that the page read differently, open up a 'New section' - there should be a tab with that label (but sometimes it is just a '+').
• In the box, write what you think the changes should be and what Wikipedia policies justify the changes, if reasons were given for the earlier reverts.
• Be sure to use the {{ping|username}} template to notify the editors that reverted you (you can find their usernames in the page history of the article) that you've begun a discussion.
• This is the first stage of attempting to arrive at a consensus on how the page should read. It's possible the discussion will go on for some time, but it's also possible that you will get no response whatsoever.
• Follow the steps of dispute resolution if you do not seem to be getting anywhere. The community is in charge, which means that you may need more members of the community to get involved for a consensus to emerge. There is no higher authority to appeal to at this stage.

Be sure to get involved in editing other areas of Wikipedia that are less contentious. Hammering away at a single issue is not the best editor experience, so you should mix in some other activities. — jmcgnh^{(talk) (contribs)} 02:02, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
