Well, i added these two posts on topic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Republic_of_China_%E2%80%93_Pakistan_relations . I don't know how to license an image. Could you please guide me in this regard. Add these three images on that article. These images are present and drawn from Pakistan Post Official Website.... Also, I want to add some image on my college page Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore. Guide me how to add license codes on those images which i snapped by myself. Because whenever i add some image on page which i wrote mostly, some person add tag of speedy delete with it. I am doctor, and want to help in medical topics. I love to, but confusing policies of wikipedia forcing me to quite this channel ;( could you please please please guide me. I could give support from college authorities in all forms, because i heard that wikipedia support mailing services as well. So it would be nice of you if you guide me in at least these fronts of image licensing. It would be great full of you. i asked couple of guys before, but they are just authoritative not cooperative, killing purpose of wikipedia of "Sharing Portal" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr.faizanali (talkcontribs) 03:17, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted file[edit]

You deleted "File:The Signs of Jesus' Second Coming.jpg" because it was "Redundant copy of non-Commons file in the same file format: File:Jesus Second Coming Book.jpg". However the copyright permissions are not the same. File:Jesus Second Coming Book.jpg was uploaded as "Fair use" and was flagged for deletion. The "File:The Signs of Jesus' Second Coming.jpg" had received explicit permission from the publisher. Unfortunately you deleted the one with explicit permission and left the "Fair use" one. Can this be corrected? --Geoffry Thomas (talk) 08:12, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The one here (not commons) would be deleted any way becuase if was not used in the article space. All of the relevant information is included in the OTRS ticket, so there's really no need to have two identical images that have the same information. Skier Dude (talk) 04:02, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good, I see that the OTRS ticket information was copied to the older file. Thanks --Geoffry Thomas (talk) 09:08, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Trial Map Borovets.jpg[edit]

Regarding: 04:32, 29 December 2010 Skier Dude (talk | contribs) deleted "File:Trial Map Borovets.jpg" ‎ (F4: Lack of licensing information) Hi, please restore the image Trial Map Borovets.jpg. We have rights to use it as we have ordered it do be worked out and we also have the design company permission for that. Probably it must be tagged as cc-by-2.0-map-of|region but I wasn't sure as I'm new to Wikipedia and not quite familiar to image licenses. Thank you. Katinna (talk) 09:14, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors[edit]

Those changes aren't going to do what you desire. The errors are generated by the Cite extension and namespace is controlled through {{broken ref}}. For template namespace, it is all or none, and we do get any number of broken templates. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 14:33, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was led to believe from this Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Prevention of category inclusion that even though the cite.php was generating the error, the inclusion of the 'nocat' would prevent that error from being transcluded into the category if included within the template that's causing the error. If that's not the case, I presume that there's no way to "force" a non-inclusion of a page into a specific category...? Any thoughts on how to do that? Skier Dude (talk 03:57, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You stuck the nocategory inside Help:Cite errors/header, which is just a header. Nocategory suppresses categories only in a template that supports the feature. I can't think of any way to suppress the category on a cite error, as the error is generated by a software extension that we can't get into. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 04:45, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Files without a license[edit]

Hi!

I'm doing a cleanup of files without a license. You have uploaded a lot as you can see on this list. I suggest we choose one file (perhaps File:Please choose a more precise name.jpg and license that with {{PD-text}} and just make all the other files a redirect to that file. That way we should also get rid of a lot of duplicate files. That will be a great help.

What do you think of that? --MGA73 (talk) 12:47, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We have {{protected generic image name}} we can add instead. Redirects will not work at the moment. I tested with a redirect to File:Please use descriptive file names.jpg but at the moment files on Commons "win" if there is nothing but a redirect on Wikipedia. --MGA73 (talk) 23:09, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You've found the chronic issue with image redirects - they're quite wonky (to be less than technical :) - protected images even more so. That's why there's so many; they don't take up much space & are easy to track (via the way you've just done). Until the underlying software starts dealing with this issue, best leave as is, IMHO. Skier Dude (talk) 03:15, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. We need system to be changed before we can use redirects. --MGA73 (talk) 06:27, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Undeletion request[edit]

Hello,

On 7 April 2009, between 1:11 and 1:13, you deleted the files:

The reason was "F5: Unused non-free media".

This a request for undeletion of those files, for the following reason.

The files used to illustrate the article Vatican euro coins and the different articles on the respective euro values. As they are non-free images of "national" sides of euro coins (see Template:Non-free currency-EU coin national), their description pages also included a fair use rationale. At that point, all was well. However, the problem arose when those Wikipedia files were removed from the articles on 29 March 2009 by a user (see diff.), who also replaced them by links to copies that had been uploaded to Commons. Unfortunately, that user did so without regard for the fact that the images were not free and that, consequently, the copies that had been uploaded to Commons were there against the Commons policy and they would eventually get deleted from the Commons site (see for example Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Euro coins.jpg). So, at that point when, in April 2009, you deleted in good faith the Wikipedia files, they had indeed been temporarily "unused" for about a week, but normally they should have been in use, because they should never have been removed from the articles by the user. Ideally, that user's action would have been noticed and undone and the files put back into place in the articles. Unfortunately, apparently nobody noticed it quickly enough between March 29 (removal) and April 7 (deletion) and the anomaly continued to this day. Anyways, better late than never. Now, Commons is currently in a process of deleting the non-free copies (yes, it did take time) and it will become even more necessary that we restore the Wikipedia files, so that the images can be in place in the articles. I think the copies on Commons will probably be deleted soon and it would be nice to have our Wikipedia images already back in place by then.

Consequently, could you please undelete the files mentioned? I hope my explanation was clear. Thanks in advance for your help.

File:Jpsnes_fp.png and File:Jpsnes_shot.png images[edit]

According to the template you posted, the images File:Jpsnes_fp.png and File:Jpsnes_shot.png are fair-use images not used in any articles. They are indeed fair use images, but they are not orphaned. Both are still in use in the following article: Jurassic Park (SNES game) Please double-check to make sure that the templates for those images are what you intended. Thanks Bumm13 (talk) 07:22, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • (talk page stalker) Both images were removed from the article which seems to be when Skier Dude tagged them as orphaned, however, neither images has a fair-use rationale, so I tagged them with that reason. In my opinion they don't appear to be able to comply with the 10 non-free content criteria. ww2censor (talk) 17:22, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've rolled back the orphan tag, it doesn't appear to be an issue on this article, but if the same type of vandalism continues, let me or any admin know, or post it at WP:RFPP to take a look at protection options. THanks. Skier Dude (talk) 05:45, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sir I'm failing to understand where my error is.[edit]

If my sources aren't good enough then the sources for the subjects "Christianity", "New Testament" "Jesus Christ" even "God" as a whole are no more valid; the faith (which is not a denomination) for which I speak is a direct and pure product of these, and these ARE THE SOURCES. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wkdemers (talkcontribs) 07:12, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More detailed assistance needed and requested please...[edit]

On Wiki page "Jesus" what RELIABLE source is there showing that Jesus Christ was a real man other than the Holy Bible? Jesus has no record of birth or death other than the Holy Bible so what does His church need above the Holy Bible as proof of "NOTABILITY" as you call it to have a spot here with it's creator? I am not an educated man according to the world (but according to Jesus I am very educated in His Doctrine) but am no fool, please help me find simple instructions as the large words used on the Wiki instruction pages explaining the operation of this exercise are not settling well with my understanding. In other words, can you please break it down? I'm a small person seeking helpful assistance. -Respectfully W.K.DEMERS Wkdemers (talk) 06:34, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:IClaudius.JPG[edit]

On my talk page you wrote:

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:IClaudius.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:42, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I checked the file and the related article. It turns out that someone uploaded another image of the book and substituted it for my image -- this is of a first edition. Wik policy is to show the first edition of a book to illustrate an article whenever possible. As my uploaded image is not a first edition, I am now (I can't believe I'm doing this!) asking that my uploaded image be deleted. Jason Palpatine (talk) 06:58, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Skier Dude-

You recently deleted two pages I created on episodes by season of the web series "You've Got," citing that they duplicate another topic. I can't find any duplicative pages and was hoping you could help me locate them.

Re: separating the episodes by season on separate articles, I was merely following a template from the tv show "The Big Bang Theory." See:

Yes, actually I wonder if you could just restore the previous version. Pages regarding Mazovia, Mazovians and Mazovian language are very much in my interest. I change them bit by bit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rejedef (talkcontribs) 02:08, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing to restore - the images are gone and would simply give links that look like this File:Mazovian clothing.jpg. See Wikipedia:Red link for information regarding regarding redlinks. Please remember that any editor can redact any article, so if you're going to edit here you need to be willing to have all of your additions edited in the future. The axiom here is "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." So - there's nothing to revert here, as the redlinked image links will simply be removed by another editor or by a automated bot that does this. Skier Dude (talk) 02:23, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
