DYK nomination of To Live for the Masses[edit]

Hello! Your submission of To Live for the Masses at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 19:38, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sky Harbor, we're a week away from it being two months since this was posted, and a month since you last made any edits. I can't guarantee the nomination will remain open for a full week, but I don't see it remaining open longer than that unless you take an active interest in it. I hope you'll be able to find some time for it soon. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:06, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WikiStreets[edit]

Hi Josh, I'm quite interested in your WikiStreets project as I find it quite interesting. I think it has great potential on a global level. Do you think we could take this up on the Commons? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 20:15, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Rsrikanth05. I have been pursuing this project on and off, but i think it would be a good idea to pursue on a more global (and certainly more public) level. How do you think Commons will react to this? --Sky Harbor (talk) 00:47, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So long as we're able to convince Commons admins that we won't be spamming Wikimedia projects with saps of dustbins around the world, I think this is feasible. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 04:21, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps. The idea of the project basically is to take pictures of major thoroughfares in a city, and maybe include notable road infrastructure as well. We could make it like a Wiki Loves-type of event; let's try threshing this out. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 16:25, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 27[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Death and state funeral of Lee Kuan Yew, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Walt Disney Studios and Carlsberg. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

TWL HighBeam check-in[edit]

Hello Wikipedia Library Users,

You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you. Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) at 16:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Following up[edit]

Hi Josh,

I just wanted to follow up to say I really enjoyed our conversation at lunch today. Thanks for sharing your observations about global diversity in the Wikimedia movement. I'm interested in hearing any other ideas that come to mind so please feel free to contact me via my talk page or via email (mjohnson@wikimedia.org) if you have follow-up thoughts.

Specific to my own role, as I gear up to outreach for the Individual Engagement Grants committee, I would heartily welcome any suggestions you have about candidates who could offer their sensitivity and expertise about strengthening global diversity. That perspective is really valuable in the review of IEGrant proposals. IEG is focused on experimentation for online impact--which is outside the interest you expressed in event/conference organization, but again, if you have thoughts about others who might be good in this role, let me know.

Thanks again and warm regards,

--Mjohnson (WMF) (talk) 18:46, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

pro jewish hasbara vandalism by SKY HARBOR[edit]

I accuse you of vandalizing the JCPOA Article by removing crucial parts detailing Iran's rights under NPT asf..

STATE YOUR REASONS, and maybe tell us what you think about AIPAC! --91.60.142.211 (talk) 18:01, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, hi. My only edits to the article were adding the Philippine perspective to the deal, which was positive. So before you accuse me of doing something wrong, you might want to check the history first. Also, I support the deal, so your accusations are baseless. --Sky Harbor (talk) 21:51, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Research relevant to your talk[edit]

Hi, I meant to get this to you on Thursday after we spoke... hopefully it's still useful to your talk in any way. This is great research by Mark Graham from the Oxford Internet Institute, I wanted to point you to the nice visualizations of within-region compared to outbound edits, by country of origin and subject. See especially pages 60-66 (pp. 65-71 in the PDF).

Splitting Debate per WP:CONSPLIT to move content pertaining solely to competitive styles into a new article title Debate (competitive)[edit]

Hi, just letting you know that there is a discussion occurring on Talk:Debate about moving article content related solely, or mostly dealing with, competitive debating into a new article to allow Debate to be more about the form of discussion instead of styles of competitive debating. Re Nova_Founders_Capital[edit]

I just sent you an email in connection with image permissions for images in Nova_Founders_Capital

For future use please note the desired wording at: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Email_templates

I alluded to the possibility of uploading the logo to Wikipedia rather than commons and using the nonfree rationale approach. If they go that route is this something you know are to do if not I'd be happy to walk you through it. It is quite simple; because it is easier to do than to explain, when I get a request from a company associated with a logo, I normally just do it rather than explain it to them, but as you are an editor and may run into this in the future, I'll walk you through it if you do not know how to do it. Of course, they may opt to provide the free permission for the logo which would make this moot.--S Philbrick(Talk) 13:03, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Help decide the future of Wikimania[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).

After reviewing the consultation, we'd like to hear your feedback on on this survey.

In addition, feel free to share any personal experiences you have had at at a Wikimedia movement conference, including Wikimania. We plan to compile and share back outcomes from this consultation in February.

With thanks,
