DYK
Hi, I was revieweiig your DYK and was wondering if you have nominated a hook to DYK before. Or is this your first ones? If you have created <s>less</s> more than five, you'd have to review one or two as well and link to that under QPQ.~~~ Paradise Chronicle (talk) 04:40, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Paradise Chronicle: My DYK count is at least 14 (per User:Slgrandson/Article accolades). (About time I made an update after this season's episode.) --Slgrandson (How's my egg-throwing coleslaw?) 08:48, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Ah great, so you are not a newby. Today one has to review a nomination for DYK and link to that review under QPQ. Except for the editors who have less than 5 DYK nominations, but you had already 14, so you are way passed that. But I have als seen that you have been away at times even for years, so maybe DYK has also changed since your last DYK nomination. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 20:23, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

On 2 June 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Two Hundred Rabbits, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Lonzo Anderson "grew up rather like a rabbit" while unsupervised outdoors, anticipating his work on Two Hundred Rabbits? Star Mississippi 13:17, 21 July 2023 (UTC)New page reviewer granted
{{safesubst:require subst|template=New Page Reviewer granted|1=
Hi Slgrandson. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
- Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
- Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. ~~

NPP reviewing
Hey Slgrandson. First off, thank you for doing NPP reviewing. You're popping up on the reports as doing a very high volume of reviewing (182 reviews per day), and I appreciate your time. Since you are a newer reviewer, I did want to check in though.
1) First off, you're reviewing at a high rate of speed, about one article per minute sometimes. I just want to double check that you're doing a thorough review, including things like WP:EARWIG copyvio check, duplicate article check, and clicking open the article's sources and evaluating them to ensure they pass WP:GNG? (unless it passes an WP:SNG)
2) I notice you've marked hundreds of articles as reviewed, but haven't nominated any for deletion yet. This isn't normal and has me a bit worried. Surely some of the articles you're running across have notability problems and the correct action is to send them to AFD?
Thanks a lot. Looking forward to your feedback. –Novem Linguae (talk) 22:49, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hello my friend. When you get a minute, would you mind addressing the two comments above? I am still curious. Thanks so much. –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:45, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- I also share the concern as @Novem Linguae. Investigating an UPE sock/meat ring, I came across Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Amansharma111 et al. I saw you marked Manik Marria (permalink, log 149887970) as reviewed. Following that @Kuru removed all the promo material and moved to draft. This usually would be done by NPP reviewers. Would you like to address these concerns? — DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 16:18, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Novem Linguae:/@DaxServer: During my test drive several weeks ago, I tended to concentrate on the best-looking pages along with highly passable ones, and skipping anything with a {{notability}} tag. As for the socks, I've hardly been well-versed in recognising nearly any of them (apart from one of late who submits AFC drafts on children's literature regardless of state or completion level), so Dax's notes on the matter came as a surprise.
- Much as I appreciate this arena, NPP is a bit tougher than anyone at my level even bargained for (thanks to Nov. Ling.'s tool suggestions)--and I'm a WP veteran of 18 years' experience (and counting). Still, looking forward to what happens in October. --Slgrandson (How's my egg-throwing coleslaw?) 02:18, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Slgrandson. Thank you for your work on Ajay Chowdhury. User:Novem Linguae, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, I had the following comments:
I have unreviewed an article you marked as CSD A7. We should not mark articles with CSD or PROD tags as reviewed. We can mark articles with AFD or RFD tags as reviewed though.

- @Novem Linguae: Admittedly, it was well-written and well-structured on the surface, but as I'm learning in this case, even that is sometimes not quite enough to warrant an article. Besides, I am concentrating on decent- and good-looking articles during my stints (since I'm new to the NPP process). Wondering why this BLP doesn't stand out? --Slgrandson (How's my egg-throwing coleslaw?) 07:01, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hey there. I was worried that you placed a CSD tag, then marked it as reviewed. However taking another look at the history, looks like someone else placed the CSD tag, making me 100% incorrect here. My mistake, I apologize. Please keep up the good work. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:21, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi. I just saw your ping from almost two weeks ago, and I wanted to say thanks. I read the novel last year and I was really impressed with it. I think it's worth trying to see if I can find enough reliable sources.
Hope you're well, and it's nice to see you're still around this place :) Guettarda (talk) 02:32, 31 July 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Ain't Burned All the Bright
On 23 August 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ain't Burned All the Bright, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Ain't Burned All the Bright (author pictured) consists of only three sentences across 384 mostly illustrated pages? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ain't Burned All the Bright. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Ain't Burned All the Bright), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Your GA nomination of Black Is King
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Black Is King you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of OlifanofmrTennant -- OlifanofmrTennant (talk) 00:23, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Black Is King
The article Black Is King you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Black Is King for comments about the article, and Talk:Black Is King/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Orphan tag on new article - Rebecca Sparling
Hello,
I saw you placed orphan tag on Rebecca Sparling article. I read the orphan page on Wiki.
The page Sparling now links to Rebecca Sparling article. Is this sufficient to remove tag?
If external websites link to the Rebecca Sparling's page, does that fix this problem? Or only internal Wiki sites? I can add her to other Wiki sites of contemporary women engineers under "See Also" but waiting for a collaborator's permission.
Thanks! Jdsmith33 (talk) 21:49, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- Deorphaned by request. --Slgrandson (How's my egg-throwing coleslaw?) 23:42, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter
Hello Slgrandson/Archive,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Hello Slgrandson:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
