Hello Smcagey. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.--Orange Mike | Talk 15:03, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Logo and issues with the article World Gastroenterology Organisation[edit]

The logo version you uploaded will be deleted as it can not be hosted in Wikimedia Commons. Only images which are licensed freely without constraints to commercial reusage can be uploaded there.

Ideally all images on Wikimedia projects must be freely available under licenses like CC-BY or GPL, you can not place restrictions on them as Wikipedia is routinely printed, copied, and reproduced in some other forms by many other people and websites (even commercial ones). But in accordance to the Fair Use laws of the United States (where the English Wikipedia servers are located), the English Wikipedia can use lesser quality versions of copyrighted images if and only if they satisfy certain criteria. Wikimedia Commons, however, services all Wikipedias (German, Russian, Chinese, etc.) and thus it can not accept fair use images.

I have resized the logo you uploaded and reuploaded it under a new file name with the correct attribution. So no need to worry about that.

However, the article it is for does have several major problems. One of which is that it reads very much like a catalogue or a company profile. This is not appropriate, even for an NGO. Please reword it to read more like an article. Neutral wording, text in paragraphs if possible, and remove anything that will not interest an outside reader (like organization goals or policies). Stick to a brief description, history/background, and current undertakings.

You also need to provide more independent coverage of the article in your references. It seems like virtually all the sources are from the organization's website itself. This does not help prove notability and can get your article challenged and deleted. In order to be impartial and prove sufficient notability, you need to include third party sources like newspapers, other websites, television coverage, academic journals, books, etc.

For more info, please refer to the following pages: Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations, and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Thank you.-- ObsidinSoul 16:05, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
