Discussion about Invasion of Iraq article

Hi Smoth007 I only want to communicate with you about your deletions on some of my editions in this article. I have done it again trying to be as neutral as possible because the article seems to have some point of view problems. I have chosen to only edit some very small sentences that seems to me the more biased. Perhaps we can discuss it here before starting deleting each other postings.

1) US and UK attempts that the UN security council approve the use of force against Iraq: · The resolution has never been voted because US-UK were at minority after checking its supports in the council. The veto problem was not the real cause of the resolution withdrawal. It is true that some permanent members later announce that they would use the veto against the resolution.

2)Insurgents or resistance: · A lot of groups in Iraq opposes the foreign occupation, this is a fact. The term insurgents or resistance are used by coalition forces and Iraq government the former and the latter 'resistance' are used by these guerrilla groups. Terrorism groups are also a reality in Iraq today and ethnic fights as well.

3)Weapons of mass destruction · It is a fact too that Saddam regime does not have WMD and the only chemical warfares found in Iraq after the invasion were no useful chemical weapons that date from Iran-Iraq war in the 80's. These cannot be used as weapons. Mainly they are remains of ammunition that contained the chemical substances mentioned in your article.

First time editing in wikipedia maybe I do not use the correct page to discuss these issues but thanks for your understanding.

Nice article; thanks for creating it!

As far as the category names go, trying to do a split will probably lead to another fight over the naming of the main Iraq War article, and there aren't that many entries there in any case. I think the easier option would be to simply rename the category to Category:Battles and operations of the Iraq War but to keep it together, as that will follow the structure the articles themselves use. Halloween

Hey 007.

I didn't add anything to the Halloween article, but I did delete a very silly sentence that was both vulgar and offensive to anyone of the Irish race.

I think you may be mistaken, unless deleting such a sentence is vandalism...then I apologize.

Tiger Force

Hello: the image of the Tiger Force patch belongs to me according to my policy statement and notice of copyright on my web site, where that patch was first posted. It is a replica patch, and not contemporary with the VN era. It was made in about 2002 or so. About 50 where made, and distributed to VN vets who served with Tigers. The combination of the two (TF patch and 101 patch) is also my image since I modifird the 101 patch for use on my page. The 101 patch alone would be a device of the US government, and usable by anyone as public domain. Your good faith statement is acceptable to me, since most people do not really understand the issues of heraldry, and what is the difference between an authourized patch and an unauthourzed patch. Pine Gap

Hi,

re: Category:Date of birth missing

Good evening. Per the discussion about privacy concerns expressed at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Privacy of birthdays, date of birth should generally not be added to the biographies of living non-public or semi-public figures. So far, that policy has been interpreted fairly strictly with a pretty high bar being set for the definition of "public figures" who are assumed to have given up their rights to privacy.

By the same token, we should not be adding Category:Date of birth missing to articles unless we have made the case that the person meets the "public figures" threshold. Otherwise, we're just baiting new users into adding content even though the community has already said that we shouldn't include that particular data point. Category:Year of birth missing is okay but the exact date is often not. Thanks for your help. Rossami (talk) 00:07, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
