Hi, Snowolf! I just came here a minute ago to move a new comment to the bottom for you, and I had a bit of trouble on account of that huge position:absolute table you have at the top of your page. On edit pages, it covers the top half (about) of the edit box, which makes it really difficult to do anything that's not a section edit. I've added an element hiding rule in ABP, but it would be great if you could make it hideable with the collapse function, so as not to interfere on the edit page. Thanks! Relatedness of certain IRC channels to Wikipedia

On RFAR IRC Workshop you said, I think it's too open to interpretation: a broad view would include channels like #vandalproof, #cvn-wp-en or #npwatcher which are not strictly linked to the English Wikipedia, but are still related to it..

Agreed, and to clarify, the CVN channels have their own group contact and are a completely separate entity. I sincerely doubt that CVN staff will give a moment's thought to granting any external entity (in this case, Wikipedia and by extension ArbCom) control over its methods and policies. CVN's remit is to Wikis is general and hardly only to those controlled by the WMF.

re: NPWatcher application

Hi there - thanks for your reply to my application. Could you please explain how you established whether or not I have read and understood the criteria for speedy deletion? I'm not in a huff, I'm just interested as to your reasoning. Cheers, Pumpmeup 11:18, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem ;-) . - Rjd0060 (talk) 00:53, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Since you are around, I guess I'll ask you. A user created a couple user and user talk pages of other users, with random characters. I've tagged them for speedy as vandalism, but I am second guessing myself. Would that be correct? See User talk:80.229.144.223, User:80.229.144.223, and User:Enesco. I've removed the text that was added from the first two already. Rjd0060 (talk) 00:55, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Rudget!

Dear Snowolf, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 15:18, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

OK, he's now been blocked on my second report. Could have saved us some time there. But a good example of how useful rollback is for non-admins. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 17:55, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Snowolf. I wanted to request approval for using NPW. Now, the reason why I am writing this here on your talk page instead of just adding myself to the list on the approval page: I have already applied before once back in May 2007,[1] and been rejected[2] for a lack of understanding of policy (the reason can be seen on that diff of my talk page too, the paragraph right above). I feel I have since gained a much better understanding of policy, especially the CSD criteria, and would therefore like to apply again. I didn't know if I should/could just add these words next to my name in the approval list, so I thought I'd talk to you first. "Hasn't vandalised at all?" - does continued insertion of spam information about a non-notable company on their userpage (speedied) and user talk page not count, in your view? Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 15:28, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I tagged their userpage for speedy, and it was deleted. Their user talk page here contains the same information. History says it all, I think. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 15:30, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

My RfA

Hey there, I'm writing to inform you that I have withdrawn my request for adminship, which was currently standing at 11 supports, 22 opposes and 6 neutrals. This count could have been so much better if I had understood policy, although I believe that 17 questions is a lot to ask of a user's first RfA. I will take on all comments given at the RfA and will endeavour to meet the high expectations of the RfA voters. WEBURIEDOURSECRETSINTHEGARDENplay it cool. 21:41, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Re Link Reversions

Follow the full deletion discussion on the page with the copyrighted terms (I don't want to mention it here because the point is to end involvement with Wikipedia and remove all copyrighted terms and every time you mention the page google crawls and and you guys spawn like 50 more auto-pages ... it's totally ridiculous). The history is we added an article on a piece of software, got into an argument related to bias in the NMS list, and decided to end all involvement with wikipedia and you guys keep recreating web pages that use our trademarks without our permission as a result. The end decision is that the issues were not constructive and the related pages were permanently courtesy blanked, as these two pages should be as well. We will not be having any further involvement with Wikipedia once these pages don't show up on google indexes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Popperian (talkcontribs) 20:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Editing and citations

I am unaware due to relative newbieness how to do sources and stuff. Proof of the edit i made is only i witnessed it first hand when it happened and i suppose the Archimedes institute would also be proof and could therefore be qouted as citation. I chose this subject as my first contribution to wikipedia as it is something only a limited number of people would be as aware of as i am. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PJPIP (talkcontribs) 21:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Is this a bot or something? Your revert of my edit to Assortative mixing makes zero sense: I removed a dead link, you revert, edit my talk page with a vandalism warning, and then revert your own edit to my talk page. Guerrilla ontology reversion

I recently removed a very long, not-really-relevant quote from the Guerrilla Ontology article, which you reverted on the grounds that the edit was unconstructive. The quote is about Discordianism, which is related to Guerrilla Ontology, but which is not the same thing. Though the two subjects are related, the quote does not actually explain how. The quote is not identified as a quote nor is it attributed to anyone nor has any effort been made to incorporate it into the larger article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.134.41.188 (talkcontribs) 23:25, 24 Jan 2008

Matt Gonzalez edit War

I write to you asking for assistance in a matter involving a User:Griot repeated edits to the Matt Gonzalez page. After you reverted the page 19 minutes later Griot changed it back removing referenced info many users have attempted to include. For the last three years I've watched this user edit-war with numerous users over the article making repeated edits the information fought over is usually the same with numerous users restoring it or adding it on there own with griot siding for exclusion dispite the fact the information in question is both factual and referenced. The page has been protected before but he just returns as soon as protection ends and "out edits" the other users. These edits are never discussed by Griot on the talk page and the referenced information he removes has been requested several times on the talk page. The Grounds for exclusion are often too much detail but some of this detail is needed to expalin things for people living outside the San Francisco bay area. unfortunatly I don't have an account but that in no way removes the factual nature of the dispute. I have no idea if you can help if not at least Thanks for your time. 139.102.16.185 (talk) 05:33, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi, could you please explain how my edits to Teen Wolf were unconstructive? I assure you they were made in good faith. Please check your bot settings. I tried to repair the NuBreaks page and your bot auto reverted my change. Please take a look at the current page! It is by far one of the worst pages out there. Israeli judicial system article

Hello,

I've recently read the said article, and was overwhelmed by its lack of professionalism.
The majority of the article is in fact rants about being a lawyer. It is entirely non-encyclopedic, and is based primarily on unsubstantiated anecdotes and personal opinions.
That said, the pieces about the Labor Court and Military Courts show severe bias. The Labor courts in Israel do have a well-specified jurisdiction (that is actually presented in the article). The writer's opinion about the "mistake" of turning to these court is, again, an opinion - not a fact. The personal criticism of Justice Adler (who is actually notable for brokering the end of several major strikes in Israel) is obviously bias. And about the Military Courts - they should be mentioned of course - and criticised, but that is also done unprofessionally in the article.
Any way, I usually don't edit wikipedia pages, but this one was just screaming "EDIT ME!".
Hope you'd reinstate my edits, and actually do some more deletions, so it won't look like some lawyer's personal blog.
 Respectfully,
 Annonimous from Israel.

Mistaken revert

Please take a look at your recent revert revert you made to Federal Employees Health Benefit Plan. The article was created using the wrong name for the federal program involved. I've created a new article under the correct name Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and copied _all_ of the text from the original article to the new one. The last step was to redirect the original, incorrectly titled article to the new one. That's what I tried to explain in shorthand form in my edit summary ("Redirect to article under the program's correct official name") That's also the step you just reverted. Please take a look. If you see anything inappropriate about this move, let's talk - but I think you'll agree that it was the correct move. If you have any question about the correct title, look at the website for the program ([7]). Thanks, EastTN (talk) 15:03, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

My apologies. Here is the URL for which I am reporting vandalism.

Our Dalhousie Peer Magazine URL has been changed to www.saveport.ca

www.saveport.ca is a site in direct conflict with our mandate. THAT change is the vandalism. The original Dalhousie Peer Magazine URL was set up with: www.peer2000.com

It is Dalhousie Peer Magazine's URL that has been vandalized!

Lupin's Tool

Probably a silly question with a simple answer. I'd like to try Lupin's Tool, but when I go to see my monobook.js file (which I have never touched before), I get the following message:

"If a message on your talk page led you here, please be wary of who left it. The code below could contain malicious content capable of compromising your account; if your account appears to be compromised, it will be blocked. If you are unsure whether the code is safe, you can ask at the appropriate village pump."

and no code to see or edit whatsoever.

This happens in both Firefox 2.0, IE 6 and IE 7. Any pointers as to what to do/how to edit and save a monobook.js file are appreciated. -- Alexf42 22:35, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

What's up! We have a new Burnout Paradise wiki at Wikia, and I wanted to invite you to share your knowledge with us on a whole wiki dedicated to the game. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Cheers. JoeLay (talk) 00:12, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm simply inviting people who have edited the Burnout Paradise article (thus showing interest in the game) to also edit the Burnout Paradise wiki at Wikia. I just got done reading every Wikipedia policy page I could find, and did not see anything that prohibits what I am doing. If there IS a pre-existing written policy that does prohibit it, point me to the page that it appears on, and I will no longer invite people to share their knowledge about specific games at another wiki. Until then, I intend to continue with the invitations. JoeLay (talk) 00:53, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

I don't know if you've noticed, but there's an extraordinarily large "lol" at the top of this page. You do say not to revert vandalism... Keep up the good work :-) Sam Korn (smoddy) 00:28, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I've removed it, thanks :) Snowolf How can I help? 12:34, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

What?

Uh, what did I do wrong? I only thought that there was something that the user blanked on his page, and I got suspicious. I also made some filler on the page because it looked blank, and heck, it was. I wanted it to at least have an intro. Kimera Kat (talk) 00:50, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

NPWatcher

Hi Snowolf

I have just added my user name to NPW (self-approval as indicated). I downloaded the program and it requests userid/pwd. What is not clear to me at this point is how to set the initial password and the manual is no help on this issue. Thanks for your attention (you can respond here as I'll be watching the page for a while). Thanks! -- Alexf42 03:52, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Never mind. I figured it out. Silly me. That's what happens when you work before a first cup of coffee. :) -- Alexf42 04:02, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Editing!

Hi Snowwolf! I just wanted you to know that I edited the Fergie Page because somebody edited it before and added a text saying "I'm Fergie and I love you" and stuff like that, and he/she added a link to a porn site. Just deleted everything so someone could replace it with the original. Thanks for doing it! Sinnec (talk) 13:33, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

AMFV

Sorry about that, I thought it would make sense to mention all the year numbers that appear in the game, as all the other instances have both the number of years into the future and the C.E. year number. -- 85.183.214.12 (talk) 13:20, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Germanic peoples - Kind warning from you

Thank you for your warning, however you are too late. I already written to Snowballa68, that I wouldn't revert further vandalism, in order to avoid an edit war (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Snowballa68) - but none-the-less thank you :) Dylansmrjones (talk) 16:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for protecting Daniel Boone

Thanks for changing the protection level for Daniel Boone to semi-protection. It seems if an article becomes featured, it's vandalized. I wonder if Wikipedia ought to have a standard policy that featured articles are protected for a day or two? What do you think? Wakedream (talk) 18:30, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Don't mean to start a wheel-war, but are you aware of Wikipedia:Main Page featured article protection? -MBK004 19:00, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I won't remove the semi protection, but I will restore the full move protection which is applied to all main page FAs. -MBK004 19:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

My peer review request

I apologize, I did not mean to spam several users with improper requests, but I did want feedback. I'm thinking maybe you could suggest the proper place to look for 3rd party feedback? What are the proper channels? I support your contributions in anti-vandalism, which brings me to my next question. How did you know I sent several messages to different peer review users? That was cool. :)--Sparkygravity (talk) 19:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Hirsuties papillaris genitalis

You certainly seem attached to the three pictures of a penis on the Hirsuties papillaris genitalis page. Every time I get rid of these pictures FOR PERFECTLY LEGITIMATE REASONS you revert the page.

The page has some links at the the bottom for people who want to see images, but I don't think it's necessary for viewers to be bombarded with THREE graphic pictures when they read this article.

Please, I'm begging you, can you just explain your reasons before you revert this article?

Yngwie Malmsteen

Can you explain me, please, why my edit should be uncostructive? I've just optimized the section creating an apposite page for the lineups table, undoubtly too long if located in the page of the biography. What's the point? Should I leave an explanation on the edit summary every time I edit a page? Thanks --Blues 1911 (talk) 20:25, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I didn't mean to be a vandal

Here is my story.

I created a whole new article on classical hamiltonian quaternions.

The history of this article was that it grew and grew inside of quaternions, until it started to have more section headings under item 10.1 than the entire rest of the article.

Section five of the article is extreamly problematic.

It might be about a different topic.

So I cut it and paisted it into the talk page.

So I was cutting a section of an article that I myself had typed, because when we cut the history section in quaternions back down to a better older version and took the text from the current to long version and put it in another article.

Read the top of the article about what it is about.

See how section five does not belong there?

Or should it. I read it again, and I sort of like it. Maybe it does still belong but just needs a lot of work. What if it is the one part that can't be made to meet wiki standards?

What would have been the proper procedure for deleting it? Rather moving it to a different page and deleting it from classical quaternions?

Please don't get me in trouble for being a vandal

Hobojaks (talk) 03:16, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

I read a little bit more about what constitutes vandalism. By definition it constitutes a deliberate act. You also accused my of being "unconstructive". I admit that I have a lot to learn about the rules of wikipedia. But I hope my attempts to contribute to the history of quaternions by now dividing the subject it two parts will no longer be viewed as "vandalism".

Snowolf, if you would like to help us with the development of the history of quaternions you are more than Welcome. However your accusations of vandalism with out participation in the discussion seem unreasonable.

Editing "Muhammad" page

Hello,

I have just edited "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad" to remove the pictures of Muhammad, the messenger of ALLAH as displaying such images are offensive to Muslims.

May I know why did you report the change (removal of the images) as constituting vandalism?

Thanks in advance.

Report of vandalism

This revision of civilization was vandalism! http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Civilization&diff=186984743&oldid=186899011. It was fixed by User:VoABot_II. Since it was fixed by a bot rather than a person, I thought I'd report the vandalism, since this IP user may become more subtle and avoid detection in the future.--Sparkygravity (talk) 10:38, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Stratics revisited

the removal of the reference section was because that material was linked to a recent controversies section listed on the page. said "recent controversies" is the vandalism i have been attempting to remove and you've been reverting back to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Missed (talkcontribs) 18:31, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

vandal

hey snowolf,

how's it going?

about a week ago you suspended user 192.91.173.42, right now he/she is vandalizing the same article , but with a different ip , this time its 192.35.35.34....

snowolf if you check both IPs you 'll find out that it's the same person from Washington DC,

the user who keeps vandalizing my entry, does not cite any proof or any reference

the article is

"ya libnan"

and snowolf you could go to ya libna's website...and you'll find out that every article...says "according to a relaibe source...according to this reliable source...according to that reliable sources...

the sources are always not named...and this vandal claims they are sourced even htough he provides no reference to proove it...

New Page patrol

Howdy, my wife and I have been doing new page patrol and wanted to check out the NPWatcher tool. We left our names at User:Martinp23/NPWatcher/Checkpage a day or two ago, and thought we might as well poke you. Your User:Snowolf/Admin tools page is amazing, especially the warn templates and the "live" summaries. The backlog is either inspiring or frightening, but I guess there's plenty to do. Excuse me but your comment on my input onto the condom section was extremely offensive. I put a alot of effort into making a useful contribution adding real world angles to the information page. How valid is this internet site if people simply choose the information put forward, i realise it must be moderated but who has the right to decide what is acceptable. My information is just as valid as the next.

Thank you for your time and i leave deeply offended and in dispair of the state of this once great site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.207.227.119 (talkcontribs) 22:24, 25 Jan 2008

Also the rubber johny is used in many schools across the world as a balloon. One blows up the johny with the mouth like a balloon, or you can put it over your head and blow through your nose. This is often done to the obese person in the class as they look much like a pig when blowing through their nose.If a rubber john is used (blown up many times) it gets full of saliva, this looks much like gook (A.K.A Semen, cum, white magic, jizz, the fuzz, bernard o'donahan, john of arc, bum fun, sea-monkeys, spearinajar, etc) which can often be an unwanted sight when the john has been discarded as it looks as if sexual humpy dump has occured and the gook (A.K.A Hilary Clinton, white gold, wet dream, spokey dokies, spunk and all of the mentioned above) Many beleive the Johnny defines the man, the phrase manners maketh the man possibly originated from the idea of a Johnny being an important peice of human society. Some also beleive the phrase rubber johhny came from the Swedish architect (Yohof Lehnsjohn) who made his name selling fingers from a 'marigold' glove and in some cases elastic bands, as a condom when little were available. The buyers of the condom would simply call it a john or rubber johny after Yohof's second name. Although many disputes rage over the origin of the condom as examples of primitive contraception have been found as early as Egyptian periods.(HF)

I beleive this validates much un heard information. Is this not a info sharing site. I would be intersted in the amount of people who support this comment.

Respectful correction

Dear Snowolf,

thank you for your friendly guidance; in order to reciprocate, I feel I owe you an explanation: My recent alteration was in no way an attempt at vandalism or misguided sandplay, as it were; I felt that given the limited size of the "Ferrer (surname)" entry, it wold actually be more beneficial to users if it were reinstated to its original position, i.e. s.v. "Ferrer", whence it was transformed into a separate subpage in December, 2007. I still believe reinserting the information under "Ferrer" would be beneficial; naturally, however, I bow to your experience,if you continue to maintain that its present position is preferable.

Kind regards,
